증숙가공공정을 통한 더덕의 항산화 활성 증진 (Enhancement of Antioxidative Activity of Codonopsis lanceolata by Stepwise Steaming Process)

  • In general, stepwise hot steaming process is known to be effective in improving its biological activities; however, not much employed in processing Codonopsis lanceolata due to its hardness. In this study, C. lanceolata was first pretreated with warm water at $50^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$ for two hours, then steamed for 3 hours. Antioxidant activities of 70% ethanol extracts were compared with the extract from the water solvent: 41.58% vs 8.98% of DPPH radical scavenging activity in adding $1.25mg/m{\ell}$ of steamed extract and water extract, respectively. Reducing power of steamed and fresh C. lanceolata were also measured as 1.39 and 0.71. Total poly phenolic of the steamed extract was estimated as 12.11mg/g, compared to 3.98mg/g fresh C. lanceolata. Total flavonoid contents were also obtained as 11.48mg/g, compared to 7.11mg/g of fresh C. lanceolata. In comparing phenolic acids profiles in the extract, in general higher amounts of gallic acid, trans-ferulic acid, vanillic acid were obtained possibly by easy release of active components during thermal processing, which results in better antioxidant activities than that of water extract. This findings can also be supported by result that the ethanol extract showed better activities than the water extract.

Hand Language Translation Using Kinect

  • Since hand gesture recognition was realized thanks to improved image processing algorithms, sign language translation has been a critical issue for the hearing-impaired. In this paper, we extract human hand figures from a real time image stream and detect gestures in order to figure out which kind of hand language it means. We used depth-color calibrated image from the Kinect to extract human hands and made a decision tree in order to recognize the hand gesture. The decision tree contains information such as number of fingers, contours, and the hand's position inside a uniform sized image. We succeeded in recognizing 'Hangul', the Korean alphabet, with a recognizing rate of 98.16%. The average execution time per letter of the system was about 76.5msec, a reasonable speed considering hand language translation is based on almost still images. We expect that this research will help communication between the hearing-impaired and other people who don't know hand language.

MST를 이용한 문자 영역 분할 방법 (A Method for Character Segmentation using MST(Minimum Spanning Tree))

  • 기존의 문자 영역 추출 방법은 전체 영상으로부터 컬러 영역 분할이나 프레임 차 방법을 이용하였다. 이들 방법은 휴리스틱에 많이 의존하므로 추출하려는 문자의 사전 정보를 가지고 있어야한다는 점과 구현에 많은 어려움이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 휴리스틱한 부분을 줄이고 알고리즘을 단순화한 방법을 제안하고자 한다 문자의 지형학적 특징점을 추출하고 이 점들을 MST(Minimum Spanning Tree)를 형성하여 문자의 후보 영역을 추출한다. 문자 영역을 후보 영역의 검증을 통하여 추출한다. 실험 결과 문자의 후보 영역 추출율은 100%이었으며 최종 문자 영역 추출율은 98.2%이었다. 또한 복잡한 영상에서 존재하는 문자 영역도 잘 추출됨을 볼 수 있다.

갈근과 옻 혼합추출물의 성분변화 및 항알러지 효과 (Constituent Alterations of Pueraiae Radix and Lacquer Tree Mixture Extract and their Anti-allergic Effects)

  • 옻나무는 옻오름 같은 알러지 반응으로 인해 식품으로의 활용이 제한되므로 이러한 알러지 반응을 완화시키기 위하여 갈근 추출물과 혼합하여 알러지 억제효과를 평가하였으며, 알러지를 유발시키는 성분의 변화를 측정하여 화학적 구조변화 및 생물학적 알러지 반응 억제 양상을 관찰하였다. 이에 갈근 추출물에 대한 옻나무 추출물의 알러지 반응 완화효과를 RBL-2H3 세포에서 ${\beta}$-hexosaminidase의 양을 측정하여 평가하였으며, 갈근 추출물에서 매우 우수한 억제효능을 나타내었다. 또한, 갈근 추출물을 혼합한 결과 양성대조군 ketotifen보다 다소 우수한 효능이 나타났다. 옻나무 추출물의 알러지 유발물질 확인하고, 갈근과 혼합 추출 하였을 때의 알러지 유발물질 함량변화를 평가하기 위하여 GC/MS 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 4종의 알러지 유발물질을 확인할 수 있었으며, 갈근 추출물과 혼합시 알러지 유발물질은 그 함량이 적어지거나 소멸되었다. 따라서, 갈근과 혼합하여 추출하였을 때 함량이 낮아지거나 소멸되는 알러지 유발물질 4종에 대하여 탈과립 억제 효능을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 옻의 알러지 유발물질 4종으로부터 알러지를 유도한 RBL-2H3 세포에서 탈과립화 억제효능 양상이 유사하였으며, 이를 통해 갈근 추출물은 항알러지 효과를 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 효능을 통하여 옻과 갈근을 혼합하여 추출한 복합추출물의 경우 옻의 문제점인 알러지 반응을 효과적으로 억제할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • In order to development of culture goods I made works with various color's silk fabrics dyed with water extract or methanol extract of plants. The Plants used for dyeing as dyeing material were indigo, safflower, amur cock tree, onion's Peel, citrus peel, mugwort, gromwell, sappan wood. Each of Plants were extracted by each of temperature and time. The mordants used for various color chanties are aluminium sulfate, cupric acetate mono hydrate, ferrous chloride. With fabrics of various color dyed like this I made works which give expression to an easy and natural image of the Korean nation of fabrics.

A Method for Caption Segmentation using Minimum Spanning Tree

  • Conventional caption extraction methods use the difference between frames or color segmentation methods from the whole image. Because these methods depend heavily on heuristics, we should have a priori knowledge of the captions to be extracted. Also they are difficult to implement. In this paper, we propose a method that uses little heuristics and simplified algorithm. We use topographical features of characters to extract the character points and use KMST(Kruskal minimum spanning tree) to extract the candidate regions for captions. Character regions are determined by testing several conditions and verifying those candidate regions. Experimental results show that the candidate region extraction rate is 100%, and the character region extraction rate is 98.2%. And then we can see the results that caption area in complex images is well extracted.

  • Mounted in aircraft, LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) technology uses pulses of light to collect data about the terrain below. The main objective of this study was to extract reliable the individual tree and analysis techniques to facilitate the used LiDAR data for estimating tree crown diameter by measuring individual trees identifiable on the three dimensional LiDAR surface. In addition, this study can be quantitative analysis of individual tree through the canopy parameter.

Best-First decision tree 기법을 적용한 심전도 데이터 분류기의 정확도 향상에 관한 연구 (Research on improving correctness of cardiac disorder data classifier by applying Best-First decision tree method)

  • 심전도 질환 데이터는 일반적으로 분류기를 사용한 실험이 많다. 심전도 신호는 QRS-Complex와 R-R interval을 추출하는 경우가 많은데 본 실험에서는 R-R interval을 추출하여 실험하였다. 심전도 데이터의 분류기 실험은 일반적으로 SVM(Support Vector Machine)과 MLP(Multilayer Perceptron) 분류기로 수행되지만 본 실험은 정확도 향상을 위해 Random Forest 분류기 알고리즘 중 Decision Tree를 Best-First Decision Tree(B-F Tree)로 수정하여 실험하였다. 그리고 정확도 비교분석을 위해 SVM, MLP, RBF(Radial Basic Function) Network와 Decision Tree 분류기 실험을 같이 수행하였고, 동일한 데이터와 간격으로 실험한 타 논문의 결과와 비교해보았다. 수정한 Random Forest 분류기의 정확도를 다른 네 개의 분류기와 타 논문의 실험과 비교해보니 정확도 부분에서는 Random Forest가 가장 우수하였다. 본 실험의 전처리 과정은 대역통과 필터(Band-pass filter)를 사용하여 R-R interval을 추출하였는데 향후에는 정확한 간격을 추출하기 위한 필터의 연구가 사려된다.

Antioxidant and antidiabetic activities of extracts from Cirsium japonicum roots

  • This study investigated the antioxidant activity of methanol (MeOH) and water extracts from roots of Cirsium japonicum in vitro, MeOH extract showed a stronger tree radical scavenging activity than water extract. However, both of extracts showed a concentration dependent hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, reducing power and metal chelating ability, MeOH extract had greater phenolic and flavonoid contents than water extract. The antidiabetic activity of these two extracts was evaluated by the a-glucosidase inhibition assay, The water extract showed a considerable a-glucosidase inhibitory activity. To our knowledge, this may be the first time to report the antioxidant and antidiabetic activities in Cirsium japonicum roots.

한국산 생약제들의 혈압강하작용에 대한 연구(III) -박달수피의 혈압에 대한 작용- (Effect of Betula schmidtii Regel on Blood Pressure)

  • This study was undertaken to search for a new antihypertensive or hypotensive agents in natural crude products in Korea. Betula schmidtii Regel, a tree belonging to the Betulaceae family, is cultivated for the most part of our country, and their cortecies or tree milk has been used as folk remedy, which exerted good antiinflammatory effect on rheumatic fever, arthritis or rheumatism. The rats were treated with several extracts from Betula schmidtii Regel, that is, extracts of water, methanol from inner cortecies, extracts of ether, methanol, hexane, chloroform or butanol from outer and total cortecies. In this experiment, we measured the blood pressure and heart rate in anesthetized rats, and atropine, diphenhydramine, phentolamine, propranolol, epinephrine, hexamethonium and hydralazine were pretreated prior to Betula extracts to clarify the mechanism of the hypotensive action. The results of the experiment were as follows; 1. BOIE(Betula outer cortex water-insoluble extract) and BICE(Betula inner cortex chloroform extract) elevated the blood pressure and heart rate. 2. BIME(Betula inner cortex methanol extract), BIBE(Betula inner cortex butanol extract) and BIWE (Betula inner cortex water extract) significantly lowered the blood pressure and heart rate. 3. With the pretreatment of hydralazine, the hypotensive effect of Betula schmidtii Regel was significantly blocked. From the above results, it is suggested that the hypotensive effect of Betula schmidtii Regel is due to the direct vasodilation of blood vessel.
