Postural balance of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) reflects the neuromuscular balance. TMJ posture treatment for meridian yinyang balance has been asserted to have an impact upon cervical spine alignment with an episodic good clinical result for refractory torticollis cases. A retrospective study with one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted to review cervical spine imaging data and clinical symptom changes in cervical dystonia cases to explore the effect of TMJ balance treatment. Review of clinical symptoms and cervical spine imaging data including computed tomography and simple x-ray of 9 cervical dystonia cases revealed significant improvement of cervical spine alignment and clinical symptoms. Improvement of cervical spine alignment may be an underlying mechanism of TMJ balance treatment, as a way of balancing the whole-body meridian system.

Objective : This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis on pelvic parameter related research over the last 30 years, analyzing trends, hotspots, and influential works within this field. Methods : A comprehensive Web of Science database search was performed. The search yielded 3249 results, focusing on articles and reviews published from 1992 to 2022 in English. Data was analyzed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer for keyword, authorship, and citation burst analysis, co-citation analysis, and clustering. Results : The number of publications and citations related to pelvic parameters has increased exponentially over the last 30 years. The USA leads in publication count with 1003 articles. Top publishing journals include the European Spine Journal, Spine, and Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine, with significant contributions by Schwab, Lafage V, and Protoptaltis. The most influential articles were identified using centrality and sigma values, indicating their role as key articles within the field. Research hotspots included spinal deformity, total hip arthroplasty, and sagittal alignment. Conclusion : Interest in pelvic parameter related research has grown significantly over the last three decades, indicating its relevance in modern orthopedics. The most influential works within this field have contributed to our understanding of spinal deformity, pelvic incidence, and their relation to total hip arthroplasty. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the trends and influential research in the field of pelvic parameters.
Purpose: Surgery for thyroid gland requires skin incisions that can result in postsurgical neck scar. To overcome this, many surgeons performed a endoscopic thyroidectomy. But, this approach had a some problems. One of postoperative problems, iatrogenic cervical dystonia (CD) may occur. At common, CD is defined as a syndrome characterized by prolonged muscle contraction causing twisting, repetitive movements or abnormal posture. Botulinum toxin A (BTA, Botox$^{(R)}$, Allergan, Irvine, CA, USA) is well known treatment agent in the treatment of CD. So, the authors applied BTA injection in rare case with iatrogenic CD resulting in endoscopic thyroidectomy. Methods: A 43-year-old female had endoscopic subtotal thyroidectomy operation 3 years ago. She had symptoms such as progressive cervical pain, abnormal neck posture, depression, and sleep difficulty. About 1 year later, the patient who had previous myomectomy of the clavicular head of sternocleidomastoid muscle, however, symptoms were not improved. And then the patient received BTA therapy in our department. The 2 units per 0.1 mL solution was administered in a 1 mL tuberculin syringe. Results: The dose of BTA used in the patient was 36 units for vertical platysmal bands, superficially, and 10 units for ipsilateral sternocleidomastoid muscle, intramuscularly. After 2 weeks, additional the dose of BTA used in the patient was 5 points for remained scar bands, superficially. Complications related to injection such as significant swallowing difficulties, neck muscle weakness, or sensory change were not observed. In 9 months follow-up, the patient maintained a good result from the method of BTA injection alone. Conclusion: The basic concept is selective denervation for the hyperactive individual muscles and scar bands. We conclude that BTA is an effective and safe treatment for CD despite the iatrogenic and complex presentation of this complication.
Objective: Congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) is a disease with abnormal head and neck posture in infants. It affects the child's movement and development and can lead to complications. Therefore, this study aims to find out what factors influence the rehabilitation treatment duration of infants with CMT. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The subjects were 63 infants under 90 days of age who were diagnosed with CMT. Age, thickness of the sternocleidomastoid muscle (SCM) on the affected and non-affected side, head tilt angle, and head rotation angle of the affected head in infants were collected. The ratio of muscle thickness was calculated from the thickness of the affected SCM and the thickness of the non-affected SCM (A/N ratio). All subjects underwent conservative physical therapy twice a week for 30 minutes, and the end of the treatment was when the angle of head tilt was normal or less than 5 degrees, and the treatment duration was calculated. Results: Age, thickness of affected SCM, and head tilt were significantly correlated with treatment duration (p<0.05). The thickness of the non-affected SCM, A/N ratio, and head rotation angle did not show any correlation with treatment duration. The factors affecting the treatment duration were head tilt and age, showing 21% explanatory power of adjusted R2. Conclusions: The main factors affecting the treatment duration of infants with CMT are head tilt and age. Therefore, more attention should be directed to the infant's head tilt and age for effective physical therapy of infants with CMT.

Traction is the treatment of choice for a small nuclear protrusion. The nucleus is soft and can be influenced by suction. Traction provides a method of improving on recumbency-the only effective treatment before traction was devised. The intention is to achieve rapid reduction by distraction the joint surfaces mechanically-a positive purpose-instead of merely avoiding the compression of the upright posture by putting the patient to bed and leaving him there. Recumbency, usually successful in the end, wastes an endless amount of the patient's time and money. Traction carries the further advantage of enabling the patient to be up and about, attending to his bussiness, during treatment. Traction brings the joint surfaces much farther apart than just lying in bed, a greater centripetal force acts on the protruded part of the nucleus. Traction has three beneficial effects; 1. Suction : a sub-atmospheric pressure induces a centripetal effect on the contents. 2. Distraction : increases the distance between the articular edges. X -rays have shown an increase in width of the joint of 2.5 mm. 3. Ligamentous tightening : the posterior longitudinal ligament tightens which then exerts centipetal force on a central protrusion.
Parkinson's Disease is a well known degenerative disease which result's in the depletion of dopamin-producing neurons in the pars compacta of the substantia nigra. This is a chronic, progressive disorder characterized by progressive muscular rigidity, pill-rolling tremor, flexed posture, shuffling gate and akinesia. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of an oxygen therapy with various scales on symptoms of Parkinson's disease. We treated his disease with Oxygen treatment , including herbal medicine acupuncture, and trigger point therapy, and we evaluated the clinical progress of the patient using UPDRS and H- Y stage. After treatment for about 1-month, the chief complaints and tremor symptoms were improved. This study suggests that oxygen therapy is significantly effective in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
In evaluation of some area within the craniofacial complex posteroanterior cephalogram together with lateral cephalogram is used for assessment of the exact existence and posture by grasping 3-dimensional concept. The usages of posteroanterior cephalogram in orthodontics are following; 1. The use during diagnosis and treatment planning 1) Assessment of the area and amount of facial asymmetry. 2) Assessment of therapeutic position for diagnosis and treatment 2. The Assessment of success in orthodontic mechanics If we use posteroanterior cephalogram together with lateral cephalogram adequately and simultaneously we can establish the exact diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning.
Radiation therapy is an effective modality to alleviate cancer-related symptoms. To deliver radiation accurately, it is essential to secure stability of the treatment position in patients during each treatment time. However, some patients could be less cooperative due to their psychoemotional issues. We present two cases of terminal-stage cancer patients who were initially unable to lie still on the treatment table before simulation. A relaxation technique was taught to them on the bed, and they could relax and undergo radiation therapy with effective symptom relief.

Hallervorden-Spatz disease (HSD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder associated with excessive iron deposition in the basal ganglia. In general, HSD is characterized by onset in first two decade of life and by the presence of extra-pyramidal dysfunction including dystonia, rigidity, choreoathetosis. Other associated features include gait and posture disturbance, intellectual decline, seizure, tremor, dysarthria. These signs and symptoms are progressive. MRI is often demonstrated hypodensity in the basal ganglia which is probably suggestive of accumulation of iron. There is no specific treatment for HSD and 45% of patients die before reaching the age of 20 years. The managements directed at specific symptoms are often helpful. Especially, some surgical procedures like pallidotomy and gastrostomy are performed under general anesthesia. There is special need for careful management because of numerous anesthetic challenges like difficulty in cooperation, life-threatening airway obstruction and possibility of aspiration. We report a successful anesthetic management in a patient with HSD for dental procedures.
This study was carried out by using questionnaires with 230 lumbago patients who visited the general hospitals, orthopedic clinics, neurosurgery clinics and physical treatment centers in Taequ. Korea for one month from December 20, 1991 to January 20, 1992. The result of this study is summarized as follows. 1. 203 patients consisted of 113 males and 90 females, while 65 patients were was which was the highest percentage. 2. The relation between their occupational properties and lumbago indicated that there was significant relation in their total employed period, job hours, monthly average incomes(P<0.01), job satisfaction, working posture, mental stress(P<0.01), excessive usage of bark during working, lifting of heavy thing and serious noises. 3. The relation between social properties and lunbago showed that there was a remarkable relation in their introspective character(P<0.05). daily average riding hour(P<0.05), smoking(P<0.01), drinking(P<0.01) and insufficient physical exercise. 4. The relation between the clinical properties and lunbago indicated that the lumbago was mainly caused by lifting the heavy thing, which was continued fur three months or longer. And, it was shown that they consider the lumbago as one of serious diseases. In addition. they positively evaluated their physical treatment. Therefore, it is required to accomplish the comprehensive treatment of this lumbago on the basis of the educational contents centering around its prevention by performing more suitable health education.
