  • The glass transition behavior of OLED materials is very important for both processing and lifetime. We report about the correlation between the structure of selected small molecule Hole Transport Materials (HTM's) and their glass transition temperature. The thermal stability of devices manufactured with them was investigated. The results give researchers and engineers some information which are helpful for designing new molecules and processing them in device making.

  • Both hypoxia and insulin induce same target genes including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), glycolitic enzymes and glucose transporters. However these two signals eventually trigger quite different metabolic pathways. Hypoxia induces glycolysis for anaerobic ATP production, while insulin increase glycolysis for lipogenesis and energy storage. Hypoxia-induced gene expression is mediated by Hypoxia-inducible Factorl (HIF-1) that consists of HIF-1 $\alpha$ and $\beta$ subunit.(omitted)

  • The mechanism of how cholelithiasis increases the risk of acute pancreatitis remains obscure. When gallstones obstruct the lower biliary tract, bile acids can enter the pancreas either by luminal diffusion or by interstitial leakage. Here we provide the first evidence that bile acids can be transported into pancreatic acinar cells through the membrane transporters and induce cell death by impairing intracellular Ca$\^$2+/ signals.(omitted)

  • This paper introduces several decision-making problems that need to be solved in order to facilitate the efficient operation of container terminals. These decision-making problems include the berth planning problem, the quay crane scheduling problem, the unload/load sequencing problem, the yard allocation problem, and the short-term scheduling of transporters and yard cranes. These problems can be classified into strategic decision problems, tactical decision problems, and real time operational decision problems. This paper proposes definitions of the problems that can be used to develop mathematical models for the problems.
