An Application Study on the Actual Site for Using Waste Heat (폐열을 이용한 열공급 실증 연구)

  • Heat is wasted by unconcern in industrial complex. This paper presented for using waste heat, which investigated step by step from searching waste heat to starting construction before and directly applied for the using waste heat in the actual site. Especially, using heat is assessed by investigation of heat supply and demand. Design of heat transportation system was made base on analysis of heat balance between demand and supply, which was analyzed by economical efficiency and property. Payback-period on investment was 1,909 years that was comparatively a short period of time in assessment.

  • SCM(Supply Chain Management) is a new approach to satisfy customers via an integrated management for the whole business processes of the manufacturing from the raw material procurement to the product or service delivery to customers. Typically the semiconductor industry is the one whose supply chain network is distributed all over the world, and its manufacturing process has the particular characteristics which has to be considered in the modeling of supply chain. In this paper we suggest the push and pull type supply chain models based on the manufacturing characteristics and their mathematical formulation for the semiconductor industry. Push supply chain model pursuits the high throughput and the balance of the WIP flow, and pull supply chain model does to minimize the total cost of order-based manufacturing, distribution and transportation process in order to meet customer's request appropriately.

  • With the rapid development of oil and chemical industry in the late 20C, massive transportation of oil by oil tanker vessel has grown and it caused the big oil pollution accidents. When oil spill from the oil tanker, damages reach into the astronomical figures in economically and damages affect wide area and many people with break the balance of ecosystem. Recently in Korea, the oil pollution accidents has occurred frequently as growing of oil consumption and it caused large-scale damages to the victim. Oil pollution in Korea offshore takes not only Korean fisherman from their life ground and break the ecosystem but it takes too much time and money to recover. To minimize oil pollution damages, it is necessary to make pre-caution effort as a ship owner and relevant government bodies should endeavor to prevent from more damages. But once oil pollution accidents occurs in territorial sea, compensation for victim is very important. But it is true that compensation is not paid to victim smoothly. So this study aims at the problems of oil pollution compensation to the Korean victim and find the best way to get reasonable compensation.

  • The Railroad that is representative transportation of Low Coal and Green Growth is industry that meet and serve unspecificness many customer unexpensive price as industry doing against as social overhead capital. Present our country railroad achievement is real condition that is not coming out in eternal in the red management. Accordingly, In this research, analyze success factor of management black-ink balance of railroad advanced nation such as Japan, France and Compare with our country and grasps problem of present city railroad fare system. Finally, alleviate fare burden of customer through diversification of fare system service such as establishing point uniformly for railroad fare that introduce first in Japan JR Kyushu railroad and propose the improvement of management of railway operation organization through demand enlargement.

TRAFFIC-FLOW-PREDICTION SYSTEMS BASED ON UPSTREAM TRAFFIC (교통량예측모형의 개발과 평가)

  • Network-based model were developed to predict short term future traffic volume based on current traffic, historical average, and upstream traffic. It is presumed that upstream traffic volume can be used to predict the downstream traffic in a specific time period. Three models were developed for traffic flow prediction; a combination of historical average and upstream traffic, a combination of current traffic and upstream traffic, and a combination of all three variables. The three models were evaluated using regression analysis. The third model is found to provide the best prediction for the analyzed data. In order to balance the variables appropriately according to the present traffic condition, a heuristic adaptive weighting system is devised based on the relationships between the beginning period of prediction and the previous periods. The developed models were applied to 15-minute freeway data obtained by regular induction loop detectors. The prediction models were shown to be capable of producing reliable and accurate forecasts under congested traffic condition. The prediction systems perform better in the 15-minute range than in the ranges of 30-to 45-minute. It is also found that the combined models usually produce more consistent forecasts than the historical average.

  • Recently, with the policy balance development in the country, Ministries of the government as managers related each of regional projects have prepared pan-governmental support system to achieve Making Livable Area Policy. This study is analysis result of investigation in 2007 authorized cases of MLCP(Making Livable City Project) which Ministry of Construction & Transportation have propelling from city and rural-urban area of town, myeon and dong, to rural area of small village size. Areas chosen for MLCP have the active participation of inhabitants, and to promote successfully project, need to support system and originality for area. Such projects will finally increase the life quality, and make life-spaces wanting to live in the area.

  • The challenge to be faced in public transportation today is to satisfy human needs with the least delay, with the smallest number of accidents, and with the most economic use of energy, space, materials, man-power and money. One possible solution may lie in city train system, including AGT system. Specially, Passenger space in AGT is important to balance the budget of layout with passenger's satisfaction. This study focuses on lay-out and space, comfort which should be considered from the conceptual design stage of the interior layout work. Traditionally, the interior layout of the passenger room has emphasized ridequality and style. However, as the train becomes more prevalent and versatile, the focus also tends to shift toward layout and space to have comfortable circumstances. After all, the purpose of this research focused on arrangement a rational interior layout of the train through ergonomics research. Finally, the key was ensuring the comfortable environment based on cultural background of the passenger.

  • The 4th National Comprehensive Planning is a blueprint of national plan to be accomplished by the year 2020. This article indicates grounds of establishing the plan, characteristics and problems of the plan. Following is the principal contents which are treated in the article; 1st, strategy of constructing opened and combined land axis, 2nd, competency intensifying strategy by areas, 3rd, constructing health and pleasant national environment,4th, strategy for organizing express transportation and information network through the whole land, 5か, special features related building basis of cooperation interchange between North and South Korea. In the conclusion, although there were some problems through 3 times national comprehensive planning, this plan should be helpful to develop nation keeping balance for which construction and preservation would be harmonized appropriately.

Impacts of Local Land Use on Individual Modal Choice

  • In recent years, the planning of livable communities has emerged as a new paradigm. The concept of livable communities is related to both the spatial balance of working, playing, and living and the promotion of green modes of transportation, such as walking and biking. This study uses a disaggregate travel survey conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Area in 2006. I applied a multi-level random intercept logit model to estimate the effects of land-use characteristics on the choice of green modes, holding a traveler's socio-demographic characteristics constant. The empirical results show that higher density and more mixed land-use development encourages people to walk and bike even when individuals have the same socio-economic characteristics. This paper demonstrates that land-use planning by itself can play a role in the creation of livable cities and the decline of greenhouse gas production.

Five layers in turbulent pipe flow (난류 파이프 유동 내 다섯 개의 영역)

  • Five layers in mean flow are proposed by using the direct numerical simulation data of turbulent pipe flow up to Reτ = 3008. Viscous sublayer, buffer layer, mesolayer, log layer and core region are investigated. In the buffer layer, the viscous force is counterbalanced by the turbulent inertia from the streamwise mean momentum balance, and a log law occurs here. The overlap layer is composed of the mesolayer and the log layer. Above the buffer layer, the non-negligible viscous force causes the power law, and this region is the mesolayer, where it is the lower part of the overlap layer. At the upper part of the overlap layer, where the viscous force itself becomes naturally negligible, the log layer will appear due to that the acceleration force of the large-scale motions increases as the Reynolds number increases. In the core region, the velocity-defect form is satisfied with the power-law scaling.
