The purpose of this study is to investigate what owners think of their housing and their community by scrutinizing households, thereby leading to a conclusion of how these communities have developed and the advantages they provide to their owners. This study was conducted by thoroughly interviewing one member from each of a total of 10 households living in apartments and villas in the Gangnamgu area of Seoul between August 5, 2008, and September 25, 2008. The results can be summarized as follows: First, all interviewees were female, within the range of 40 years to 50 years of age, and with high educational backgrounds. They were living in mid-level income or higher households but were characterized by frugal attitudes. Second, their households held a personal and familial meaning to them, one of providing replenishment, rest, and a place to share diverse feelings with their family. Certain factors such as being a convenient place for education, rising housing prices, a large area of greenery made possible by Yangjae Cheon, and so forth contributed to giving a special significance to their housings. The interviewees all thought the convenience of education and the rising housing prices in the Gangnam area were the most important factors. Third, the interviewees indicated the following sociocultural perspectives of Gangnam housings: They provide a good environment for education due to the densely clustered academies in the Daechi-dong area. There are many opportunities to meet neighbors with similar educational and economic backgrounds. There are vast areas of greenery such as Yangjae Cheon. There is access to highly advanced cultural and shopping facilities such as COEX, Seoul Arts Center, etc. There are no amusement centers located near the housing districts. There are convenient transportation methods and facilities. They are subject to jealous looks from people living outside the Gangnam area. Lastly, it seems that no significant community spirit exists among the dwellers of each apartment or villa. However, matters of self-interest such as construction problems, which contribute greatly to creating personal wealth, were exceptions when the dwellers united as a single household.
Investigation for industrial revolution has been recognized as an important issue of historical science, since industrial revolution itself was a historical moment in modern economic society and in the forming of modern capitalistic culture. If clothing culture had been developed in close relation to social culture. industrial revolution which gave a base for modern capitalistic culture, would be a birth of modern clothing as well as a moment for modernization of western clothing. As it takes for granted that industrial revolution, historical phenomenon is a developmental base of modern clothing culture. This study tried to enlighten the origin of modern clothing culture phenomenon with investigation of industrial revolution as a historical moment in modern clothing culture through documental study. Historian's point of view and method of studying are important when we investigate the clothing phenomenon. Although culture phenomenon of industrial revolution has been evaluated usually through socialogical aspect, studying for clothing culture phenomenon must be carried out on aethetical as well as well as sociological aspect, on account of dualism of clothing, as it is social and artistic nature. In 19th century, there were technical improvement, changing patterns of production, changing social relation and beginning of mass culture. At the same time clothing culture phenomenon was changed in relation to modern capitalistic society. The findings of the study could be summarized as follows. 1. Technical improvement in textile industry and fitting process brought about mechanization of clothing industry. 2. Appearance of popular clothing culture made it easy to spread to various classes of society. 3. Development of transportation system and communication channel made it internationalization of western clothing. 4. Recognition of importance in functional style of clothing. 5. The pursuit of modern aesthetics made rapid changing mode of clothing. Above distinctive features of modern clothing culture were derived from by-product of machinary culture, mass culture, internationalism, rapidly changing mode of various culture during industrial revolution. Industrial revolution was a change of the material world as well as in industry owing to machine advent, then the culture part that displayed directly these changes was the plastic arts of living that mould the material. The problem of clothing construction caused by industrial revolution was solved by pursuing the functional aesthetics. Clothing phenomenon as a process of value transfer participates mass culture in closs relation to general change of various culture caused by industrial revolution. Therefore western clothing gained the qualities of modern culture, condensed as function, and popularity in the process of modernization.

In general, transportation sources include both on-road vehicles and off-road equipment. Off-road vehicles have usually used diesel engines, which have the disadvantage of high NOx emission. Common rail direct injection (CRDI) and after-treatment systems have been applied to meet the exhaust gas emission regulations for diesel vehicles. In the present, agricultural machinery has satisfied the Tier 3 emission regulations by using waste gate turbocharger (WGT) and internal exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). In this paper, the combustion and emission characteristics of an EGR system applied to a 56kW off-road vehicle in non-road transient cycle (NRTC) mode have been investigated. The EGR map was made from foundation experiments determining the EGR duty for all engine operating conditions, and then this map was applied to the NRTC mode. Consequently, the NOx emission was reduced by the EGR system, and the Tier 4 interim emission regulations were satisfied by using both the EGR system and an after-treatment system.

Cold stretching(CS) pressure vessels from ASS304 (austenitic stainless steel 304) are used for the transportation and storage of liquefied natural gas(LNG). CS pressure vessels are manufactured by pressurizing the finished vessels to a specific pressure to produce the required stress ${\sigma}_k$. After CS, there is some degree of plastic deformation. Therefore, CS vessels have a higher strength and lighter weight compared to conventional vessels. In this study, we investigate the tensile and fatigue behavior of ASS304 sampled by CS pressure vessels in accordance with the ASME code at cryogenic temperature. From the fatigue test results, we show S-N curves using a statistical method recommended by JSEM-S002. We carried out the fractography of fractured specimens using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Sheet aluminum alloys used in manufacturing of machine structures for transportation show the difference of crack growth speed depending on thickness under the constant fatigue stress condition. The referred thickness effect is a major fatigue failure property of sheet aluminum alloys. In this work, we identified the thickness effect in fatigue test of thick plate and thin plate of Al 2024-T3 alloy under the constant fatigue stress condition, and presented the thickness effect to a correlative equation, $U_{i}^{equ}=f(R_t)$ which is determined by the shape factor, thickness ratio, $R_t$ and the loading factor, equivalent effective stress intensity ratio depending on thickness, $U_{i}^{equ}$. And we analyzed quantitatively the crack growth retardation behavior in thin plate compared to thick plate by the thickness effect using ${\Delta}K$ conversion method. We obtained such values as decrement of thickness(DoT), decrement of stress intensity factor range, ${\Delta}K$ (DoS) and identified the relation between them to present the nature of thickness effect in this work.
Logistic system and methods of the transportation have been changed rapidly by the variety of the logistics environment. It is necessary to analyze the efficiency of Korean trucking companies for enhancing the competitive power and operating. This paper will describe the analysis of the efficiency of the trucking companies with DEA models. By the CCR and the BCC models, which are in parts of DEA model, the efficiency and RTS(Return To Scale) of forty two selected trucking companies were studied. It was also analyzed how the study the input-output variables were effected. And then, some of the forty two trucking companies were shown as the benchmark. As the result of analysis on the two models, seven companies won the score '1' on CCR model and seventeen companies on BCC model. Moreover, this study showed that reducing the total asset out of input variables, and raising the sales profit out of the output variables played a main role to increase the efficiency of the trucking companies highly.
Log normalized volume size distribution (dV/dlog$D_p$) with 52 size ranges from 0.5 to $20.0{\mu}m$ was measured for the cases of high $PM_{10}$ mass concentration (> $200{\mu}gm^{-3}$) using the Aerodynamic Particle Sizer (APS) at the Korea Global Atmosphere Watch Center (KGAWC) from 6 April, 2006 to 5 April, 2007. Black Carbon (BC), gaseous pollutants of $NO_X$ and $SO_2$ and ${\AA}ngstr\ddot{o}m$ exponent were also measured to examine the properties of the volume size distribution. From distinct difference of the high volume concentration (> $100{\mu}m^3cm^{-3}$), the volume size distribution for each event day was clasified into four types: (1) Type 1 had the high volume concentration for supermicron particles from 2.3 to $6.0{\mu}m$ and maximum average volume concentration was $160.7{\mu}m^3cm^{-3}$ at $3.5{\mu}m$. (2) Type 2 represented the high volume concentration in the both size range of submicron ($0.7-1.0{\mu}m$) and supermicron particles ($2.1-4.1{\mu}m^3cm^{-3}$ and $136.2{\mu}m^3cm^{-3}$ were found at 0.8 and $3.3{\mu}m$ respectively. (3) Type 3 showed the high volume concentration in the size range of $0.5-3.5{\mu}m$ and highest volume concentration of $201.1{\mu}m^3cm^{-3}$ at the particle size bin of $0.8{\mu}m$. (4) Type 4 was characterized by the high volume concentration for the fine particles less than $1.2{\mu}m$ and very high concentration of $446.8{\mu}m^3cm^{-3}$. ${\AA}ngstr\ddot{o}m$ exponent, concentration of gaseous ($NO_X$ and $SO_2$), and particle (BC) pollutants suggested that Type 1 was a typical volume size distribution for the Asian dust and Type 3 provided transportation of air pollutants. The distribution in Type 2 found to have both characteristics of the Asian dust and air pollutants, and Type 4 was took place during the foggy atmosphere containing high density of local pollutants. Based on the properties of volume size distribution, we can identify the three major events contributing the increase of $PM_{10}$ mass concentration, and hope to provide a guideline for discriminating the Asian dust from high $PM_{10}$ events. More case studies and longeto advance this determination method.

Purpose : This study aims to estimate the financial cost of rotavirus infection in Korea in the year of 2005. Methods : The incidence rates used were from the epidemiological profile at Jeoungeub District (5.8 cases/1,000 children <5 years old for inpatients, and 22.65 cases/1,000 children <5 years old for outpatients, per year). The health care cost per capita of rotavirus infection (ICD code: A08.0) was extracted from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service database in Korea. The patient survey was conducted to capture information about non-medical costs and associated productivity loss incurred by adult caregivers. Results : The number of annual national cases among children <5 years old with rotavirus infection was estimated to be 69,122 (i.e., 55,030 outpatients and 14,092 inpatients). The total cost of rotavirus infection was estimated at 13.3 billion Korean won, comprising 11 billion Korean won (82.7%) of direct medical costs, 1.6 billion Korean won (12.0%) of direct non-medical costs (e.g., transportation and supplies), and 0.68 billion Korean won (5.1%) of productivity lost by adult caregivers. Conclusion : Rotavirus infection carries not only medical costs but also non-medical and indirect costs; together, these costs incur a significant burden on South Korean society. The impact of rotavirus on quality of life and health among patient caregivers was not considered in this study, but it does merit further research.

Wire bonding process in making semiconductor needs the most precise control and Critical To Quality(CTQ). Thus, it is regarded to be the most essential step in packaging process. In this process, pure gold wire is used to connect the chip and PCB(substrate or lead frame). However, the price of gold has been skyrocketing continuously for a long period of time and is expected to further increase in the near future. This phenomenon situates us in an unfavorable condition amidst the competitive environment. To avoid this situation, many semiconductor material making companies developed new types of wires: Au.Ag wire is one material followed by many others. This study is aimed to optimize the parameter in wire bonding with the use of 6sigma and QFD(Quality Function Deployment). 6sigma process is a good means to not only solve the problem, but to increase productivity. In order to find the key factor, we focused on VOB(Voice of Business) and VOC(Voice of Customer). The main factors from VOB, VOC are called CTQ. However, there were times when these main factors were far from offering us the correct answer, thus making the situation more difficult to handle. This study shows that QFD aids in deciding which of the accurate factors to undertake. Normally QFD is used in designing and developing products. 6sigma process is held more effective when it used with QFD.

In this study, the equations of torsional and warping constants of a I-shaped plate girder with sine corrugated web are suggested. Because of geometric characteristics of the section, a I-shaped plate girder with corrugated web shows high out-of-plane stiffness, shear strength, and torsional stiffness. Torsional constant and warping constant definitely affect lateral-torsional buckling loads. Therefore, exact estimation of the sectional properties is quite important. But, it is difficult to estimate these properties by former methods. So, this study was focused on suggestion of the rational equations to calculate torsional and warping constants. In order to investigate the effects of geometric characteristics of sine-corrugated webs on torsional stiffness and warping torsional constant, finite element analyses for pure torsional behavior and warping torsional behavior of I-shaped plate girders were performed. By regression analyses of the analytical results, rational equations of the torsional constant and warping constant were suggested. Suggested equations for the properties were validated based on the analytical results of lateral-torsional buckling of simply supported I-shaped plate girder. By suggested equations, torsional and warping constants of I-shaped plate girders with a sine-corrugated web can be rationally estimated and more exact lateral-torsional buckling load can be simply calculated.
