Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films show a low sheet resistance and high transmittance in the visible range of the spectrum. Therefore, they play an important role as transparent electrodes for flat panel displays. However, their resistivity is rather high for use as a transparent electrode in large displays. One way to improve electrical and optical properties in large displays is to use ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer films. ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer films have lower sheet resistance than single layer ITO films with the same thickness. Prior to the ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer experiments, optimal condition for thickness change are necessary. Their thicknesses were deposited differently in order to analyze electrical and optical properties. However, when optimal single film characteristics are applied to ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer films, other phenomena appeared. After analyzing the electrical and optical properties by changing ITO and Ag film thickness, ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer films were optimized. By combining ITO film at $586\;{\AA}$ and Ag film at 10 nm, the ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer films showed optimized high optical transmittance of 87.65%, and the low sheet resistance of $5.5{\Omega}/sq$.

The WO3/Ag/WO3 transparent thin films are fabricated by the RF magnetron sputtering. This has a transmittance of front and rear about 90% in the visible light range and surface resistance of 6.41Ω/□. In this paper, we analyzed the surface characteristics caused by the working pressure and O2 plasma surface treatment to apply a transparent electrode that was prepared to the laminated structure with other materials. The working pressure was changed in the WO3 film to 10mTorr, 7mTorr, and 5mTorr, it showed a lower than roughness of conventional ITO. In addition, by 55.5774 J/m2 at 5mTorr, it shows the hydrophobic property with lower process pressure. O2 plasma surface treatment was changed at the condisions of the RF power to 150W, 100W, and 50W and the process time to 240s, 180s, 120s, and 60s. The surface roughness are the maximum roughness(Rmax) 6.437nm and the average roughness(Rq) 0.827nm at RF power 150W, and the maximum roughness (Rmax) 6.880nm and the average roughness (Rq) 0.839nm at process time 240sec. It showed a lower value than the surface treatment. also about working pressure and process time is increased, it showed the hydrophobic.

Flexible transparent conductive electrodes (TCEs) have recently attracted a great deal of attention owing to rapid advances in flexible electronic devices, such as flexible displays, flexible photovoltanics, and e-papers. As the performance and reliability of flexible electronics are critically affected by the quality of TCE films, it is imperative to develop TCE films with low resistivity and high transparency as well as high flexibility. Indium tin oxide (ITO) has been the most dominant transparent conducting material due to its high optical transparency and electrical conductivity. However, ITO is susceptible to cracking and delamination when it is bent or deformed. Therefore, various types of flexible TCEs, such as carbon nanotube, conducting polymers, graphene, metal mesh, Ag nanowires (NWs), and metal mesh have been extensively investigated. Among several options to replace ITO film, Ag NWs and metal mesh have been suggested as the promising candidate for flexible TCEs. In this paper, we focused on Ag NWs and metal mesh, and summarized the current development status of Ag NWs and metal mesh. The several critical issues such as high contact resistance and haze are discussed, and newly developed technologies to resolve these issues are also presented. In particular, the flexibility and durability of Ag NWs and metal mesh was compared with ITO electrode.

Transparent and conductive multilayer thin films consisting of three alternating layers FZTO/Ag/$WO_3$ have been fabricated by radio-frequency (RF) sputtering for the applications as transparent conducting oxides and the structural and optical properties of the resulting films were carefully studied. The single layer fluorine doped zinc tin oxide (FZTO) and tungsten oxide ($WO_3$) films grown at room temperature are found to have an amorphous structure. Multilayer structured electrode with a few nm Ag layer embedded in FZTO/Ag/$WO_3$ (FAW) was fabricated and showed the optical transmittance of 87.60 % in the visible range (${\lambda}=380{\sim}770nm$), quite low electrical resistivity of ${\sim}10^{-5}{\Omega}cm$ and the corresponding figure of merit ($T^{10}/R_s$) is equivalent to $3.0{\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}^{-1}$. The resultant power conversion efficiency of 2.50% of the multilayer based OPV is lower than that of the reference commercial ITO. Asymmetric D/M/D multilayer is a promising transparent conducting electrode material due to its low resistivity, high transmittance, low temperature deposition and low cost components.

Indium tin oxide (ITO) used a transparent electrode of a photoelectric device has a low sheet resistance and a high transmittance. However, ITO is disadvantageous in that the process cost is expensive, and the process time is long. Silver nanowires (AgNWs) transparent electrodes are based on a low cost solution process. In addition, it has attracted attention as a next-generation transparent electrode material that replaces ITO because it has similar electrical and optical characteristic to ITO, it is noted as a. AgNW thin films are mainly produced by spin-coating. However, the spin-coating process has a disadvantage of high material loss. In this study, the material loss was reduced by using about 2~10 ㎕ of AgNW solution on a (25 × 25) ㎟ substrate using the shear-coating method. It was also possible to align AgNWs in the drag direction by dragging the meniscus of the solution. The electro-optical properties of the AgNW thin film were adjusted by changing the experimental parameters that the amount of AgNWs suspension, the gap between the substrate and the blade, and the coating speed. As a result, AgNW thin films with a transmittance of 90.7 % at a wavelength of 550 nm and a sheet resistance of 15 Ω/□ was deposited and exhibited similar properties to similar AgNW transparent electrodes studied by other researchers.

The ionic polymer-metal composite (IPMC), a type of electro-active polymer material, has received enormous interest in various fields such as robotics, medical sensors, artificial muscles because it has many advantages of flexibility, light weight, high displacement, and low voltage activation, compare to traditional mechanical actuators. Mostly noble metal materials such as gold or platinum were used to form the electrode of an IPMC by using electroless plating process. Furthermore, carbon-based materials, which are carbon nanotube (CNT) and reduced graphene-CNT composite, were used to alter the electrode of IPMC. To form the electrode of IPMC, we employ the synthesized graphene on copper foil by chemical vapor deposition method and use the transfer process by using a support of PET/silicone film. The properties of graphene were evaluated by Raman spectroscopy, UV/Vis spectroscopy, and 4-point probe. The structure and surface of IPMC were analyzed via field emission scanning electron microscope. The fabricated IPMC performance such as displacement and operating frequency was measured in underwater.

Optically transparent, highly conductive coating have been major theme of thin film science efforts for some years. In this work, t-MWNT(thin Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes) are acid treated, then the stable dispersion of t-MWNTs in polar solvent such as alcohols, was achieved by sonication. The transparent conducting films are prepared using the one component solution of t-MWNT/epoxy binder via spray coating on glass substrate. The characterization of acid treated t-MWNTs was performed by Raman spectrometer. The opto-electrical properties of conducting films are analyzed by the binder concentration, and the effect of co-solvent on the compatibility and dispersibility of one component t-MWNT/epoxy binder solutions are discussed.

The thin film that is electrically conductive and optically transparent is called conductive transparent thin film. ITO(Indium-Tin Oxide) which is a kind of conductive transparent thin film has been widely used in solar cell, transparent electrical heater, selective optical filter, FDP(Flat Display Panel) such as LCD(Liquid Crystal Display), PDP(Plasma Display Panel) and so on. Especially in PDP, ITO films is used as a transparent electrode in order to maintain discharge and decrease consumption power through the improvement of cell structure. In this study, we prepared ITO by reactive r.f. sputtering with indium-tin(Sn 10wt%) alloy target instead of indium-tin oxide target. The ITO films deposited at low temperature 15$0^{\circ}C$ and 8% $O_2$. Partial pressure showed about 3.6 Ω/$\square$. At the end of firing, the resistance of ITO was decreased, the optical transparence was improved above 90%.
In this study, we report on the characteristics of Aldoped ZnO (AZO) co-sputtered indium tin oxide (ITO) films prepared by dual target direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering at room temperature for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). The electrical and optical properties of co-sputtered IAZTO electrode were critically dependent on the DC power of AZO. Furthermore, the characteristics of co-sputtered IAZTO electrode were influenced by rapid thermal annealing temperature.
