Development of a Durability Test System for ATPS Used for Automatic Transmission (자동 변속기용 ATPS의 내구성 검사 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, a system of durability test for ATPS(Automatic Transmission Position Switch), which is used for automatic transmission, has been developed. ATPS is the position sensor for an automatic transmission which transforms the gear changes into the electrical signals and transmits them to TCU(Transmission Control Unit). This system can detect the output signals of the sensor, and also it has been designed to control the position and velocity of a motor to realize the sensor's movement under the running state of a car. And a database system and a GUI system have been developed for the systematic output data management and the convenient interface for users. Also, the operation data and the inspection reference data of a motor can be easily changed in this system, and with some modification the system is also able to used for the durability test of the similar products.

  • The terrestrial ATSC 3.0 broadcasting system, which is capable of converging broadcast and communication services, uses IP based technology for data transmission between broadcasting equipment. In addition, data transmission between broadcasting equipment uses IP-based technology like existing wired communication network, which has advantageous in terms of equipment construction and maintenance In case IP based data transmission technology is used, however, it may inevitably cause an error that a packet is lost during transmission depending on the network environments. In order to cope with a broadcasting accident caused by such a transmission error or a malfunction of a broadcasting apparatus, a broadcasting system is generally configured as a duplication, which can transmit a normal packet when various types of error may occur. By this reason, correction method of error packets and intelligent switching technology are essential. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a design and implementation of intelligent IP switch for Ensuring Reliability of ATSC 3.0 Broadcast Streams. The proposed intelligent IP consists of IP Stream Analysis Module, ALP Stream Analysis Module, STL Stream Analysis Module and SMPTE 2022-1 based FEC Encoding/Decoding Module.

  • The equipment noise of machine room that generates at the building where human-being is living, is becoming to an object of strong civil appeal, and because it influences to the residential space through the floor or wall, its damage is very serious level. Accordingly, while an efficient forming of the sound insulating measures is earnest, as most of the transmission loss data was the material measured in laboratory, in case when it was applied to the job site, due to the precision difference of constructing work and the influence of detoured transmitting sound, the case of disaccord is the most. Therefore, this thesis has intended to present a fundamental data for an efficient establishment of sound insulation measure, by means of comparison analysis with the existing transmission loss data, after measurement of the transmission loss on the object of various walls, at the construction equipment machinery room.

Compressed Sensing Based Low Power Data Transmission Systems in Mobile Sensor Networks (모바일 센서 네트워크에서 압축 센싱을 이용한 저전력 데이터 전송 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose a system in a large-scale environment, such as desert and ocean, that can reduce the overall transmission power consumption in mobile sensor network. It is known that the transmission power consumption in wireless sensor network is proportional to the square of transmission distance. Therefore, if the locations of mobile sensors are far from the sink node, the power consumption required for data transmission increases, leading to shortened operating time of the sensors. Hence, in this paper, we propose a system that can reduce the power consumption by allowing to transmit data only if the transmission range of the sensors is within a predetermined distance. Moreover, the energy efficiency of the overall sensor network can even be improved by reducing the number of data transmissions at the sink node to gateway based on compressed sensing. The proposed system is actually implemented using Arduino and Raspberry Pi and it is confirmed that source data can be approximately decoded even when the gateway received encoded data fewer than the required number of data from the sink node. The performance of the proposed system is analyzed in theory.

  • opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) allows unlicensed users to share licensed spectrum in space and time with no or little interference to primary users, with bring new research challenges in MAC design. We propose a cognitive MAC protocol using statistical channel information and selecting appropriate idle channel for transmission. The protocol based on the CSMA/CA, exploits statistics of spectrum usage for decision making on channel access. Idle channel availability, spectrum hole sufficiency and available channel condition will be included in algorithm statistical information. The model include the control channel and data channel, the transmitter negotiates with receiver on transmission parameters through control channel, statistical decision results (successful rate of transmission) from exchanged transmission parameters of control channel should pass the threshold and decide the data transmission with spectrum hole on data channel. A dynamical sensing range as a important parameter introduced to maintain the our protocol performance. The proposed protocol's simulation will show that proposed protocol does improve the throughput performance via traditional opportunistic spectrum access MAC protocol.

  • Currently, the industry uses MODBUS communication method using RS485 as a communication method used when constructing distributed equipment and networks. However, this method has a rather good transmission and reception distance, but has a disadvantage of being a half-duplex communication method. Therefore, there is a great need for a full-duplex communication method that can simultaneously transmit and receive two-wire communications. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new communication hardware equipment that can implement full-duplex communication method by communication signal level to overcome the disadvantage of communication speed. The proposed communication hardware is a structure that can transmit and receive at the same time on the same communication line in two equipments communicating in a two-wire system. The characteristic of this communication hardware is that the transmitter generates two-level signal for data transmission, but the receiver generates three-level electric signal according to the status of the transmission data generated by the receiver. The data transmission signal information of the receiver is present at the same time. Therefore, the receiving side can analyze the received signal based on the information on the current transmission signal and can analyze the signal only in the two communicating devices, so it can be seen that the communication security is very excellent.

A remote long-term and high-frequency wind measurement system: design, comparison and field testing

  • The wind field measurement of severe winds such as hurricanes (or typhoons), thunderstorm downbursts and other gales is important issue in wind engineering community, both for the construction and health monitoring of the wind-sensitive structures. Although several wireless data transmission systems have been available for the wind field measurement, most of them are not specially designed for the wind data measurement in structural wind engineering. Therefore, the field collection is still dominant in the field of structural wind engineering at present, especially for the measurement of the long-term and high-frequency wind speed data. In this study, for remote wind field measurement, a novel wireless long-term and high-frequency wind data acquisition system with the functions such as remote control and data compression is developed. The system structure and the collector are firstly presented. Subsequently, main functions of the collector are introduced. Also novel functions of the system and the comparison with existing systems are presented. Furthermore, the performance of this system is evaluated. In addition to as the wireless transmission for wind data and hardware integration for the collector, the developed system possesses a few novel features, such as the modification of wind data collection parameters by the remote control, the remarkable data compression before the data wireless transmission and monitoring the data collection by the cell phone application. It can be expected that this system would have wide applications in wind, meteorological and other communities.

Energy Efficiency Analysis of Cellular Downlink Transmission with Network Coding over Rayleigh Fading Channels

  • Recently, energy-efficient cellular transmission has received considerable research attention to improve the energy efficiency of wireless communication. In this paper, we consider a cellular network consisting of one base station (BS) and multiple user terminals and explore the network coding for enhancing the energy efficiency of cellular downlink transmission from BS to users. We propose the network coded cellular transmission scheme and conduct its energy consumption analysis with target outage probability and data rate requirements in Rayleigh fading environments. Then, the energy efficiency in Bits-per-Joule is further defined and analyzed to evaluate the number of bits delivered per Joule of energy cost. Numerical results show that the network coded cellular transmission significantly outperforms the traditional cellular transmission in terms of energy efficiency, implying that given a Joule of energy cost, the network coded cellular transmission scheme can deliver more bits than the traditional cellular transmission.

  • Sensor network is used to obtain sensing data in various area. The interval to sense the events depends on the type of target application and the amounts of data generated by sensor nodes are not constant. Many applications exploit long sensing interval to enhance the life time of network but there are specific applications that requires very short interval to obtain fine-grained, high-precision sensing data. If the number of nodes in the network is increased and the interval to sense data is shortened, the amounts of generated data are greatly increased and this leads to increased amount of packets to transfer to the network. To transfer large amount of packets fast, it is necessary that the delay between successive packet transmissions should be minimized as possible. In this paper, we propose SET(SendDoneEventbasedTransmission Technique)which reduces the delay between successive packet transmissions by using SendDone Event which informs that a packet transmission has been completed. In SET, the delay between successive packet transmissions is shortened very much since the transmission of next packet starts at the time when the transmission of previous packet has completed, irrespective of the transmission time. Therefore SET could provide high packet transmission rate given large amount of packets.

Phase Noise Spectrum of LNB for PSK Multi-mode satellite transmission signal (PSK 고차모드 위성전송을 위한 저잡음 증폭 주파수 변환기의 위상 잡음 해석)

  • The LNB phase noise of user terminal for high data rate satellite transmission was analyzed in this paper. The phase noise severely affects the service performance in low data rate transmission as well as multi-mode signal for high data rate. As the satellite link frequency is increased, the effects of phase noise for multi-mode signal is increased. The phase noise of LNB, which is operated in high frequency band, is about equal to the transmission system phase noise and have an major effects on service performance degradation. The available transmission mode was analyzed in presence of phase noise of LNB and analysis method for LNB phase noise spectrum distribution was proposed in multi-mode signal.
