  • This paper reports a method to modify the gear tooth profile of a wind turbine gearbox to reduce the noise caused by the impact of the gear teeth. The major causes of tooth impact are the elastic deformation of the gear teeth, shafts, and case of the gearbox under loading, and the fabrication tolerances in gear manufacturing. In this study, the tooth profile was modified considering the elastic deformation of the gear tooth and the tooth lead modification to compensate for tooth interference in the lead direction as a result of shaft deformations. The method was applied to the gearbox of a 2.5MW wind turbine, and the transmission error was characterized before and after modifying the gear teeth. For the modified gear teeth, the transmission error (67.6%) was lower by 17.8%. Additionally, the gear contact stress was reduced by 6.3%, to 22.3%.

  • Hypoid gears are widely used in rear drive and 4WD vehicle axles. Investigation of their sensitivity to deflections is one of the most important aspects of their design and optimization procedures. The deflection test is performed in the actual gear mounting using completely processed gear. This test should cover the full operating range of gear loads from no load to peak load. Under peak load the contact pattern should extend to the tooth boundaries without showing a concentration of the contact pattern at any point on the tooth surface. Transmission error is tested on an axle assembly triaxial real car load condition.

  • In emergency telemedicine system based on wireless communication system with limited transmission capacity, it is necessary to transmit the biological data (ECG, BP, Respiration, $SpO_2$) of the patient continuously and reliably in real time. For this service, it is necessary to data compression and error control. In this study, we designed an protocol for error control in application layer and implemented it on the biological data transmission program for an emergency telemedicine system based on wireless data communication system.

  • This paper presents a comparison study between simulation and experiment for fault diagnostics of a spur gear. In simulation, fault diagnostics using transmission error (TE) was performed and concluded to be valid. In a real experiment, however, it is not as easy to detect faults of gears using TE as in simulation. In this paper, after seeding the various faults like tooth crack of different length, tooth breakage and spalling in test rig, TE was calculated. Then, several signal processing techniques were performed to overcome the limitations of an experiment in detecting the fault signals of TE. After signal processing, we could detect the various faults of spur gears and different amplitude of TE sparks from cracks of different length. Then we discussed the difference between simulation and experment.

  • In this paper, a transmission protocol including error recovery strategy on the data link layer for Ethernet using CSMA/CD media accessing method was proposed. So when considering the actual transmission error probability on the channel, it's performance was analyzed through a simulation. Performming the simmulation, the required parameters was taken as those given by Ethernet controller interface board.

  • An unexpected error is produced in calculating the transmission probability of a multipartite duct because of beam and shadow effects, if using a simple summation rule like the Oatley's equation. Particles moving in a tube are directed more or less towards the axis of the tube by the beam effect, and the length of a compound tube shortens virtually by the shadow effect originated from a reduction in the number of particles reaching the corner between two tubes of different cross-sections. Both effects make the transmission probability of the tube connected behind and consequently of the whole duct increase slightly. In this paper sources of the error in the calculation of the transmission probability are analyzed quantitatively and variations in the error depending on the dimensions of cylindrical tubes are calculated.

  • Optimum design of the tooth surface for the reduction of transmission error is very difficult to determine analytically due to nonlinearity of transmission error under the several load condition. The design of tooth surface that can give a low noise under the various load condition is very important. Therefore, this study proposes the method to determine the optimal lead curve and robust design of the tooth surface by using the response surface method. To do so, the design variables are selected by a screening experiment. Then the fitted regression model Is built with the check of the usefulness of the model. The model with constraints is solved to obtain the optimum values for the lead curve and the robust design fur the tooth surface.

  • In this study, a robust controller to control pressure in a pneumatic pressure vessel with a long transmission line is proposed. Frequency response of transmission line using compressible fluid is changed by the flowing state of the fluid. So, it a fixed gain controller designed based on a model supposed the flowing state to a specific state, the performance of the control system could be degraded because of the modelling error. The controller designed in this study is composed of two parts. One is a feedback controller to improve a feedback characteristics and to compensate the influence of the variation of transfer characteristics of a transmission line owing to the change of flowing state and the other is a feedforward controller to regulate command fallowing performance. The experimental results with the designed controller show that the robustness of the control system is achieved regardless of the change of the model or the transmission line. Therefore, the designed controller can be utilized for the Performance improvement of a Pressure control system with a long transmission line using compressible fluid.

  • Error concealment plays an important role in combating transmission errors. Methods of error concealment which produce better quality are generally of higher complexity, thus making some of the more sophisticated algorithms is not suitable for real-time applications. In this paper, we develop temporal and spatial error resilient video encoding and data hiding approach to facilitate the error concealment at the decoder. Block interleaving scheme is introduced to isolate erroneous blocks caused by packet losses for spatial area of error resilience. For temporal area of error resilience, data hiding is applied to the transmission of parity bits to protect motion vectors. To do error concealment quickly, a set of edge features extracted from a block is embedded imperceptibly using data hiding into the host media and transmitted to decoder. If some part of the media data is damaged during transmission, the embedded features are used for concealment of lost data at decoder. This method decreases a complexity of error concealment by reducing the estimation process of lost data from neighbor blocks. The proposed data hiding method of parity bits and block features is not influence much to the complexity of standard encoder. Experimental results show that proposed method conceals properly and effectively burst errors occurred on transmission channel like Internet.
