Chord rotation demand for effective catenary action of RC beams under gravitational loadings

  • Many experimental and analytical studies have been conducted with beam-column subassemblages composed of a two-span beam to investigate the progressive collapse resistance of RC frames. Most study results reveal a strength-decreased transition phase in the nonlinear static load-deflection curve, which may induce dynamic snap-through response and increase the chord rotation demand for effective catenary action (ECA). In this study, the nonlinear static response is idealized as a piecewise linear curve and analytical pseudo-static response is derived for each linearized region to investigate the rotation demands for the ECA of the two-span RC beams. With analytical parameters determined from several published test results, numerical analysis results indicate that the rotation demand of 0.20 rad recommended in the design guidelines does not always guarantee the ECA. A higher rotation demand may be induced for the two-span beams designed with smaller span-to-depth ratios and it is better to use their peak arch resistance (PAR) as the collapse strength. A tensile reinforcement ratio not greater than 1.0% and a span-to-depth ratio not less than 7.0 are suggested for the two-span RC beams bridging the removed column if the ECA is expected for the collapse resistance. Also, complementary pseudo-static analysis is advised to verify the ECA under realistic dynamic column loss even though the static PAR is recovered in the nonlinear static response. A practical empirical formula is provided to estimate an approximate rotation demand for the ECA.

곡선부 주행 차량의 마모특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wear Characteristics of R/S Passing through Curves)

  • 곡선통과 새마을호 열차의 마모 특성을 평가하기 위하여 다량 편성 해석모델이 사용된다. 이 모델과 ADAMS/Rail를 사용하여 마모 특성과 관련된 변수의 변화에 따른 민감도 해석이 수행된다. 저속에서 우측 차륜의 마모도와 미끄럼도가 좌측 차륜보다 높으나, 고속의 경우는 좌측 차륜이 우측 차륜보다 높다. 곡선반경의 감소에 따라 마모도와 미끄럼도가 증가한다. 완화곡선의 길이가 증가하련 마모도와 미끄럼도가 증가한다. 또한 캔트가 증가하면 마모도와 미끄럼도가 증가한다.

  • The major objective of this study is to proposal of measuring method and design for the testing curved railway in which the tilting train runs. In order to the speed-up of conventional lines that have many curve lines, there needs a improvement construction of substructure such as the straight or double track work and so on. But in this case, it needs to have a plenty of the cost and the period. Therefore, the tilting train which provides the high-speed service effectively in curve tracks was developed. Besides, the efficiency prediction and the linear synthesis of the existing conventional line for a tiling train service were examined on the preceding studies. So, in this paper we propose the measuring plan and the design of the improvement sections in the testing curved track which was decided as a results of material analysis and field research concerning the extension possibility of transition curves and the bearing of track due to the new developed train traveling. And we look forward to playing a decisive role as reference data on the improvement construction project for the commercial service of the tilting train.

The S-Shaped Relationship Between Internationalization and Performance: Empirical Evidence from Laos

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of internationalization on the business performance of firms in Laos as a transition economy. Using a panel dataset collected by the World Bank for 285 firms during the period 2009, 2012, and 2016 in the service and manufacturing industries, the two-steps Heckman regression results found robust evidence for the fact that the S-curve tie exists between the degree of internationalization and business performance of firms in Laos while controlling other factors. Specifically, if firms have a degree of internationalization lower than 0.4374, they will suffer losses due to the high cost of preparing for phase 1 which is market penetration. Then, when the degree of internationalization continues to increase from 0.4374 to 0.9131, firms will gain benefits from internationalization (phase 2), however, these benefits will deteriorate when the degree of internationalization is greater than 0.9131 (phase 3), meaning that firms will no longer be able to exploit economies of scale or advantages in target markets, or product cycles will fall into a state of decline. Interestingly, we also found that firms with a high concentration level of ownership and internationalization activities may achieve better performance than those with a low concentration of ownership and one which carried out internationalization activities.

3호선 실제선로 조건에서의 레일경좌 변화에 따른 철도차량 주행안전성 해석 (Running Safety Analysis of Railway Vehicle depending on Rail Inclination Change on Actual Track of Subway Line No.3 in Seoul)

  • It is very hard to analyze the train derailment safety quantitatively at the curved section because of the diversified affect parameters including the complex interaction between wheel and rail, the train conditions such as the shape of wheel, suspension system, the track conditions such as the radius of curve, cant, transition curve, and the operation conditions, etc. Two major factors related to the running safety of railway vehicle are classified as the railway vehicle and the track condition. In this study, when the railway vehicle passing through curves of actual track condition of subway line NO.3 in seoul ($Yeonsinnae{\leftrightarrow}Gupabal$), the effect that has influence on running safety depending on rail inclination. The analysis result of 1/40 rail inclination condition is more favorable on running safety than other rail inclination conditions because derailment coefficient and wheel unloading ratio are the lowest.

$CaSO_4$ 열형광체의 조성과 선량측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Composition and Dosimetry of the $CaSO_4$ Phosphors)

  • [ $CaSO_4$ ] thermoluminescent phosphors was made by sintring the $CaSO_4$ after doping the transition elements Tm, Pd, Dy, V, Mo, Zr. The maximum Peaks are found in the measured $CaSO_4$(Tm, Pd, Dy, V, Mo, Zr) TL glow curve at $130^{\circ}C,\;110^{\circ}C,\;140^{\circ}C,\;100^{\circ}C$, and $120^{\circ}C$ when the heating rate is $5^{\circ}C/sec$. The activation energy of the main peak has been estimated by the peak shape method. The estimated activation energies are 1.02eV, 1.32eV, 1.12eV, 0.80eV, and 1.17eV, respectively. The thermoluminescence process in $CaSO_4$(Tm, Pd, Dy, V, Mo, Zr)are found to the 2nd order when the main peak of the glow curve is analyzed by peak shape method. The dose responses of $CaSO_4$(Tm, Pd, Dy, V, Mo, Zr) phosphors are linear within $4{\times}10^{-4}{\sim}1Gy$ of X-rays.

도시철도 차량의 동적거동을 고려한 차량한계 해석 (Analysis of Vehicle Limit Considering the Dynamic Behavior for an Urban Train)

  • A railway vehicle should be satisfied with the safety criteria and ride comfort of passengers. A bogie of railway vehicle Is composed of many suspension components, such as springs, dampers and etc.. that have an influence on the dynamic behavior of the train wish the wheel/rail profiles and track geometries. Therefore, it Is necessary for engineers to check the Interference between vehicle limit and construction limit with considering the vehicle's behavior, because when the vehicle is running on curved track, it should be have enough clearance from infrastructure for safely, spacially In a subway system. This paper explains the effective method of analysis for vehicle limit considering the vehicle dynamic behavior and reviews the problem of vehicle limit for the Korean Standard Urban Train. The results show that the vehicle limit is over the construction limit when the Korean Standard Urban Train runs on the curved track with 180 m radius of curve.

니켈-타이타늄 호선의 상전이 온도 범위와 상전이 행동 비교 (Comparison of transition temperature range and phase transformation behavior of nickel-titanium wires)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 martensitic (M-NiTi), austenitic (A-NiTi) 및 thermodynamic nickel-titanium wire (T-NiTi)의 물리적 특징과 상전이 정도를 평가하는 것이다. 재료는 $0.016\;{\times}\;0.022$ inch의 M-NiTi (Nitinol Classic, NC), A-NiTi (Optimalloy, OPTI)와 T-NiTi (Neo-Sentalloy, NEO)이었으며, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), 3점굽힘실험, X-ray diffraction (XRD), 미세구조 분석을 시행하였으며, ANOVA test로 통계처리하였다. DSC분석 결과 OPTI와 NEO는 heating curve에서 2개의 peak, cooling curve에서 1개의 peak를 보였고, NC는 heating과 cooling curve에서 1개의 넓고 약한 peak를 보였다. Austenite finishing ($A_f$) 온도는 OPTI $19.7^{\circ}C$, NEO $24.6^{\circ}C$, NC $52.4^{\circ}C$였다. 3점굽힘실험 결과 NC, OPTI, NEO 모두 residual deflection을 보였으며, NC와 OPTI의 load range가 NEO보다 컸다. XRD와 미세구조 분석결과 OPTI와 NEO는 Martensite finishing ($M_f$)에서 martensite와 austenite가 섞여 있음이 관찰되었다. NEO와 OPTI는 NC보다 개선된 물리적 특징과 상전이 행태를 보였다. NiTi 호선의 물리적, 온도에 따른 행태는 예상되었던 상전이 정도에 의해 완벽하게 설명되지 않았으며, 그 이유는 복잡한 martensite variants의 존재와 열과 stress에 의해 유도된 독립적인 상전이에 기인한다고 생각된다.

리튬-탄소층간화합물의 Deintercalation에 따른 구조변이와 전기적 성질과의 관계(I) : Li-GFDICs와 Li-PCDICs의 생성에 대하여 (The relation of structural transition and electrical property by deintercalation of Li-Carbon intercalation compounds (I) : For the formation of Li-GFDICs and Li-PCDICs)

  • 가온 가압법으로 합성한 리튬-흑연섬유간화합물(Li-Graphite Fiber Intercalation Compounds, Li-GFICs)과 리튬-석유코크스층간화합물(Li-Petroleum Cokes Intercalation Compounds, Li-PCICs)을 공기 순환에 의하여 자발적으로 deintercalation시키고, 이 deintercalation의 분해 과정으로 나타나는 Li-GFDICs와 Li-PCICs의 구조를 전기적 성질에 미치는 영향에 대하여 논의하였다. 이에 대한 분석은 X-선 회절과 전기 비저항 측정에 의해 수행되었다. X-선 회절 분석에 의하면 Li-GFDICs의 경우 주로 2 stage가 형성되었고 Li-PCICs의 경우에는 1 stage와 2 stage가 주된 회절선으로 나타났다. 또한 deintercalatlon 반응 결과에 의하면 Li-GFDICs의 경우 5주 이후에, Li-GFDICs의 경우 3주 후에 deintercalation 반응이 각각 멈췄다. 전기 비저항 측정 결과에 의하면 Li-GFDICs의 경우 3주까지는 거의 변화가 없었고 그 후 완만한 상승곡선을 나타내었으며, Li-PCDICs의 경우에는 3주를 정점으로 하향곡선을 나타내었다. 따라서 본 연구결과에 의하면 기질로 사용된 흑연섬유와 석유 코크스의 경우 리튬의 원활한 intercalation-deintercalation 작용이 잘 이루어지므로 두 물질 모두 전지의 양극재로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대되어진다.

Kinetic Study on Nucleophilic Substitution Reaction of 5-Nitro-8-quinolyl Benzoate, Picolinate, Nicotinate and Isonicotinate with Alkali Metal Ethoxide: Effect of Nonleaving Group on Reactivity and Transition State Structure

  • Pseudo-first-order rate constants ($k_{obsd}$) have been measured spectrophotometrically for the reactions of 5-nitro-8-quinolyl nicotinate (4) and 5-nitro-8-quinolyl isonicotinate (5) with alkali metal ethoxides (EtOM; M = K, Na and Li) in anhydrous ethanol at $25.0{\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$. The plots of $k_{obsd}$ vs. [EtOM] curve slightly upward for the reactions with EtOK and EtONa but are linear for the reactions with EtOLi and for those with EtOK in the presence of 18-crown-6-ether. Dissection of $k_{obsd}$ into $k_{EtO^-}$ and $k_{EtOM}$ (i.e., the second-order rate constants for the reactions with the dissociated $EtO^-$ and ion-paired EtOM, respectively) has revealed that the reactivity increases in the order $EtO^-{\approx}EtOLi$ < EtOK < EtONa for the reactions of 4 and EtOLi < $EtO^-$ < EtOK < EtONa for the reactions of 5. Comparison of the kinetic results for the reactions of 4 and 5 with those reported previously for the corresponding reactions of 5-nitro-8-quinolyl benzoate (2) and picolinate (3) has revealed that the esters possessing a pyridine ring (i.e., 3-5) are significantly more reactive than the benzoate ester 2 due to the presence of the electronegative N atom (e.g., 2 << 3 < 4 < 5). It has been concluded that $M^+$ ion catalyzes the reactions of 3-5 by increasing the electrophilicity of the reaction center through a five-membered cyclic transition state (TS) for the reaction of 3 and via a four-membered cyclic TS for the reactions of 4 and 5.
