Recently the subject of "wavelet analysis" has be drawn by both mathematical and engineering application fields such as Signal Processing, Compression/Decomposition, Wavelet-Neural Network, Statistics and etc. Even though its similar to Fourier analysis, wavelet is a versatile tool with much mathematical content and great potential for applications. Especially, wavelet transform uses localizable various mother wavelet functions in time-frequency domain. Therefore, wavelet transform has good time-analysis ability for high frequency component, and has good frequency-analysis ability for low frequency component. Using the discriminative ability is more easy method than other conventional techniques. In this paper, Morlet wavelet transform was applied to discriminate the kind of line fault by acquired data from real power transformation network. The experimental result presented that Morlet wavelet transform is easier, and more useful method than the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform).

There is much redundancy in image data such as TV signals and many techniques to redice it have been studied. In this paper, Hadamard transform is studied through computer simulation and experimental model. Each element of hadamard matrix is either +1 or -1, and the row vectors are orthogonal to another. Its hardware implementation is the simplest of the usual orthogonal transforms because addition and sulbraction are necessary to calculate transformed signals, while not only addition but multiplication are necessary in digital Fourier transform, etc. Linclon data (64$ imes$64) are simulated using 8th-order and 16th-order Hadamard transform, and 8th-order is implemented to hardware. Theoretical calculation and experimental result of 8th-order show that 2.0 bits/sample are required for good quality.
A novel concept of transmissibility based on a wavelet transform for structural damage detection is presented in this paper. The main objective of the research was the development of a method for detecting slight damage at the incipient stage. As a vibration-based approach, the concept of transmissibility has attracted considerable interest because of its advantages and effectiveness in damage detection. However, like other vibration-based methods, transmissibility-based approaches suffer from insensitivity to slight local damage because of the regularity of the traditional Fourier transform. Therefore, the powerful signal processing techniques must be found to solve this problem. Wavelet transform that is able to capture subtle information in measured signals has received extensive attention in the field of damage detection in recent decades. In this paper, we first propose a novel transmissibility concept based on the wavelet transform. Outlier analysis was adopted to construct a damage detection algorithm with wavelet-based transmissibility. The feasibility of the proposed method was numerically investigated with a typical six-degrees-of-freedom spring-mass system, and comparative investigations were performed with a conventional transmissibility approach. The results demonstrate that the proposed transmissibility is more sensitive than conventional transmissibility, and the former is a promising tool for structural damage detection at the incipient stage.

Partial discharge (PD) measurements have emerged as a dominant investigative tool for condition monitoring of insulation in high voltage equipment. But the major problem behind them the PD signal is severely polluted by several noises like White noise, Random noise, Discrete Spectral Interferences (DSI) and the challenge lies with removing these noise from the onsite PD data effectively which leads to preserving the signal for feature extraction. Accordingly the paper is mainly classified into two parts. In first part the PD signal is artificially simulated and mixed with white noise. In second part the PD is measured then it is subjected to the proposed denoising techniques namely Translation Invariant Wavelet Transform (TIWT). The proposed TIWT method remains the edge of the original signal efficiently. Additionally TIWT based denoising is used to suppress Pseudo Gibbs phenomenon. In this paper an attempt has been made to review the methodology of denoising the PD signals and shows that the proposed denoising method results are better when compared to other wavelet-based approaches like Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), by evaluating five different parameters like, Signal to noise ratio, Cross-correlation coefficient, Pulse amplitude distortion, Mean square error, Reduction in noise level.

The wavelet transform is the most recent technique for processing signals with time-varying spectra. In this paper, the wavelet transform is utilized to improved the assessment and multi-resolution analysis of acoustic emission signals generating in partial discharge. This paper especially deals with the assessment of process statistical parameter using the features extracted from the wavelet coefficients of measured acoustic emission signals in case of applied voltage 20[kv]. Since the parameter assessment using all wavelet coefficients will often turn out leads to inefficient or inaccurate results, we selected that level-3 stage of multi decomposition in discrete wavelet transform. We applied FIR(Finite Impulse Response)digital filter algorithm in discrete to suppression for random noise. The white noise be included high frequency component denoised as decomposition of discrete wavelet transform level-3. We make use of the feature extraction parameter namely, maximum value of acoustic emission signal, average value, dispersion, skewness, kurtosis, etc. The effectiveness of this new method has been verified on ability a diagnosis transformer go through feature extraction in stage of acting(the early period, the last period) .

The denoising for image restoration based on the Wavelet Packet Transform with AA(Absolute Average) making-threshold is presented. The wavelet packet transform leads to be better in the part of high frequency than wavelet transform to eliminate noise. And the existing threshold determination is used standard deviation estimated results in increasing the noise and threshold, and damaging an image quality. In addition that is decreased image restoration PSNR by using the same threshold in spite of changing image because of installing a threshold in proportion of noise size. In contrast the AA thresholding method with wavelet packet is adapted by changing image to set up threshold by statistic quantity of resolved image and is avoided an extreme impact. The results on the experiment has improved 10% and 5% over than the denoising based on simple wavelet transform and wavelet packet respectively.

In the next generation mobile multimedia communications, the broad band shot-burst transmissions are used to reduce end-to-end transmission delay, and to limit the time variation of wireless channels over a burst. However, training overhead is very significant for such short burst formats. So, the availability of the short training sequence and the fast converging adaptive algorithm is essential in the system adopting the symbol-by-symbol adaptive equalizer. In this paper, we propose an adaptive equalizer using the DWMT (discrete multi-wavelet transform) and LMS (least mean square) adaptation. The proposed equalizer has a faster convergence rate than that of the existing transform-domain equalizers, while the increase of computational complexity is very small.
This paper proposed a structural time-varying damage detection method by using synchrosqueezing wavelet transform. The instantaneous frequencies of a structure with time-varying damage are first extracted using the synchrosqueezing wavelet transform. Since the proposed synchrosqueezing wavelet transform is invertible, thus each individual component can be reconstructed and the modal participation factor ratio can be extracted based on the amplitude of the analytical signals of the reconstructed individual components. Then, the new time-varying damage index is defined based on the extracted instantaneous frequencies and modal participation factor ratio. Both free and forced vibrations of a classical Duffing nonlinear system and a simply supported beam structure with abrupt and linear time-varying damage are simulated. The proposed synchrosqueezing wavelet transform method can successfully extract the instantaneous frequencies of the damaged structures under free vibration or vibration due to earthquake excitation. The results also show that the defined time-varying damage index can effectively track structural time-varying damage.
For several decades, productivity in construction industry has been regressed and it is inevitable to improve productivity for major EPC players. One of challenges to achieve this goal is automatically extracting information from imaged drawings. Although computer vision technique has been advanced rapidly, it is still a problem to detect pipe lines in a drawing. Earlier works for line detection have problems that detected line elements be broken into small pieces and accuracy of detection is not enough for engineers. Thus, we adopted Contour and Hough Transform algorithm and reinforced these to improve detection results. First, Contour algorithm is used with Ramer Douglas Peucker algorithm(RDP). Weakness of contour algorithm is that some blank spaces are occasionally found in the middle of lines and RDP covers them around 17%. Second, HEC Hough Transform algorithm, we propose on this paper, is improved version of Hough Transform. It adopted iteration of Hough Transform and merged detected lines by conventional Hough Transform based on Euclidean Distance. As a result, performance of Our proposed method improved by 30% than previous.
The cover song refers to live recordings or reproduced albums. This paper studies two-dimensional Fourier transform as a feature-dimension reduction method to search cover song fast. The two-dimensional Fourier transform is conducive in feature-dimension reduction for cover song search due to musical-key invariance. This paper extends the previous work, which only utilize the magnitude of the Fourier transform, by introducing an invariant from phase based on the assumption that adjacent frames have the same musical-key change. We compare the cover song retrieval accuracy of the Fourier-transform based methods over two datasets. The experimental results show that the addition of the invariant from phase improves the cover song retrieval accuracy over the previous magnitude-only method.
