Omni-directional Visual-LiDAR SLAM for Multi-Camera System (다중 카메라 시스템을 위한 전방위 Visual-LiDAR SLAM)

  • Due to the limited field of view of the pinhole camera, there is a lack of stability and accuracy in camera pose estimation applications such as visual SLAM. Nowadays, multiple-camera setups and large field of cameras are used to solve such issues. However, a multiple-camera system increases the computation complexity of the algorithm. Therefore, in multiple camera-assisted visual simultaneous localization and mapping (vSLAM) the multi-view tracking algorithm is proposed that can be used to balance the budget of the features in tracking and local mapping. The proposed algorithm is based on PanoSLAM architecture with a panoramic camera model. To avoid the scale issue 3D LiDAR is fused with omnidirectional camera setup. The depth is directly estimated from 3D LiDAR and the remaining features are triangulated from pose information. To validate the method, we collected a dataset from the outdoor environment and performed extensive experiments. The accuracy was measured by the absolute trajectory error which shows comparable robustness in various environments.

A real-time QRS complex detection algorithm using topological mapping in ECG signals (심전도 신호의 위상학적 팹핑을 이용한 실시간 QRS 검출 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm using characteristics of th ereconstructed phase trajectory by topological mapping developed for a real-tiem detection of the QRS complexes of ECG signals. Using fill-factor algorithm and mutual information algorithm which are in genral used to find out the chaotic characteristics of sampled signals, we inferred the proper mapping parameter, time delay, in ECG signals and investigated QRS detection rates with varying time delay in QRS complex detection. And we compared experimental time dealy with the theoretical one. As a result, it shows that the experimental time dealy which is proper in topological mapping from ECG signals is 20ms and theoretical time delays of fill-factor algorithm and mutual information algorithm are 20.+-.0.76ms and 28.+-.3.51ms, respectively. From these results, we could easily infer that the fill-factor algorithm in topological mapping from one-dimensional sampled ECG signals to two-dimensional vectors, is a useful algorithm for the detemination of the proper ECG signals to two-dimensional vectors, is a useful algorithm for the detemination of the proper time delay. Also with the proposed algorithm which is very simple and robust to low-frequency noise as like baseline wandering, we could detect QRS complex in real-time by simplifying preprocessing stages. For the evaluation, we implemented the proposed algorithm in C-language and applied the MIT/BIH arrhythmia database of 48 patients. The proposed algorithm provides a good performance, a 99.58% detection rate.

Big Data Processing and Performance Improvement for Ship Trajectory using MapReduce Technique

  • In recently, ship trajectory data consisting of ship position, speed, course, and so on can be obtained from the Automatic Identification System device with which all ships should be equipped. These data are gathered more than 2GB every day at a crowed sea port and used for analysis of ship traffic statistic and patterns. In this study, we propose a method to process ship trajectory data efficiently with distributed computing resources using MapReduce algorithm. In data preprocessing phase, ship dynamic and static data are integrated into target dataset and filtered out ship trajectory that is not of interest. In mapping phase, we convert ship's position to Geohash code, and assign Geohash and ship MMSI to key and value. In reducing phase, key-value pairs are sorted according to the same key value and counted the ship traffic number in a grid cell. To evaluate the proposed method, we implemented it and compared it with IALA waterway risk assessment program(IWRAP) in their performance. The data processing performance improve 1 to 4 times that of the existing ship trajectory analysis program.

  • The paper introduces dynamic generation technique of foot trajectories using CPG(Central Pattern Generator). In this approach, the generated foot trajectories can be changeable according to variable outputs of CPG in various environments, because they are given as mapping functions of the output signals of the CPG oscillators. It enables to provide an adaptable foot trajectory for environmental change. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, experiments on humanoid robot Nao is executed in the Webot simulation. The performance and motion features of CPG based approach is analyzed.

A Study on 3D Indoor mapping for as-built BIM creation by using Graph-based SLAM (준공 BIM 구축을 위한 Graph-based SLAM 기반의 실내공간 3차원 지도화 연구)

  • In Korea, the absence of BIM use in existing civil structures and buildings is driving a demand for as-built BIM. As-built BIMs are often created using laser scanners that provide dense 3D point cloud data. Conventional static laser scanning approaches often suffer from limitations in their operability due to the difficulties in moving the equipment, the selection of scanning location, and the requirement of placing targets or extracting tie points for registration of each scanned point cloud. This paper aims at reducing the manual effort using a kinematic 3D laser scanning system based on graph-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for continuous indoor mapping. The robotic platform carries three 2D laser scanners: the front scanner is mounted horizontally to compute the robot's trajectory and to build the SLAM graph; the other two scanners are mounted vertically to scan the profiles of surrounding environments. To reduce the accumulated error in the trajectory of the platform through loop closures, the graph-based SLAM system incorporates AdaBoost loop closure approach, which is particularly suitable for the developed multi-scanner system providing more features than the single-scanner system for training. We implemented the proposed method and evaluated it in two indoor test sites. Our experimental results show that the false positive rate was reduced by 13.6% and 7.9% for the two dataset. Finally, the 2D and 3D mapping results of the two test sites confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed graph-based SLAM.

  • This paper presents the development of system and program for a Parallel-Typed CNC Machine. The system consists of parallel manipulator, PC (Personal Computer), DMC (DSP Motion Controller), and machining tools. In order to control the manipulator, the program, which is implemented in "c/c++" language, involves inverse/direct kinematics, velocity mapping, Jacobian and etc. A controller computes the kinematic formulation in real-time and generates and motion by the DMC. A monitor, which has access to program and sensory information, displays the status of manipulator.nipulator.

  • For the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) problem, a different path results in different SLAM results. Usually, SLAM follows a trail of input data. Active SLAM, which determines where to sense for the next step, can suggest a better path for a better SLAM result during the data acquisition step. In this paper, we will use reinforcement learning to find where to perceive. By assigning entire target area coverage to a goal and uncertainty as a negative reward, the reinforcement learning network finds an optimal path to minimize trajectory uncertainty and maximize map coverage. However, most active SLAM researches are performed in indoor or aerial environments where robots can move in every direction. In the urban environment, vehicles only can move following road structure and traffic rules. Graph structure can efficiently express road environment, considering crossroads and streets as nodes and edges, respectively. In this paper, we propose a novel method to find optimal SLAM path using graph structure and reinforcement learning technique.

  • In this paper, we suggest a vision-based lane change control system, which can be applied on the straight road, without additional sensors such as a yaw rate sensor and a lateral accelerometer. In order to reduce the image processing time, we predict a reference line position during lane change using the lateral dynamics and the inverse perspective mapping. The sliding mode control algorithm with a boundary layer is adopted to overcome variations of parameters that significantly affects a vehicle`s lateral dynamics and to reduce chattering phenomenon. However, applying the sliding mode control to the system with a long sampling interval, the stability of a control system may seriously be affected by the sampling interval. Therefore, in this paper, a look ahead offset has been used instead of a lateral offset to reduce the effect of the long sampling interval due to the image processing time. The control algorithm is developed to follow the desired trajectory designed in advance. In the design of the desired trajectory, we take account of the constraints of lateral acceleration and lateral jerk for ride comfort. The performance of the suggested control system is evaluated in simulations as well as field tests.

  • A hybrid control scheme to regulate the force and position by dual arms is proposed, where two arms are treated as one arm in a kinematic viewpoint. Our approach is different from other hybrid control approaches which consider robot dynamics, in the sense that we employ a purely kinematic based approach for hybrid control, with regard to the nature of position-controlled industrial robots. The proposed scheme is applied to sawing task. In the sawing task, the trajectory of the saw grasped by dual arms is planned in an offline fashion. When the trajectory of the saw is planned to follow a line in a horizontal plane, 3 position parameters are to be controlled(i.e, two translational positions and one rotational position). And a certain level of contact force has to be controlled along the vertical direction(i.e., minus z-direction) not to loose the contact with the object to be sawn. Typical feature of sawing task is that the contact position where the force control is to be performed is continuously changing. Therefore, the kinematic mapping between the force controlled position and the joint actuators has to be updated continuously. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is experimentally demonstrated. The proposed hybrid control scheme can be applied to arbitrary dual arm systems, regardless of their kinematic structure and the number of actuated joints.
