This paper focuses on optimal tuning of nonlinear parameters of a dual-input power system stabilizer(dual-input PSS), which can improve the system damping performance immediately following a large disturbance. Until recently, various PSS models have developed to bring stability and reliability to power systems, and some of these models are used in industry applications. However, due to non-smooth nonlinearities from the interaction between linear parameters(gains and time constants of linear controllers) and nonlinear parameters(saturation output limits), the output limit parameters cannot be determined by the conventional tuning methods based on linear analysis. Only ad hoc tuning procedures('trial and error' approach) have been used. Therefore, the steepest descent method is applied to implement the optimal tuning of the nonlinear parameters of the dual-input PSS. The gradient required in this optimization technique can be computed from trajectory sensitivities in hybrid system modeling with the differential-algebraic-impulsive-switched(DAIS) structure. The optimal output limits of the dual-input PSS are evaluated by time-domain simulation in both a single machine infinite bus(SMIB) system and a multi-machine power system in comparison with those of a single-input PSS.

This study presents the feasibility of CFD(computational fluid dynamic) analysis using the flow angularity wind tunnel test technique. The CFD analyzed data by the flow angularity technique has been constructed as the database to get store trajectories by 6-DOF simulation. The database has been checked out store aerodynamic coefficients by the analyses at each position under wing. After that process, the simulated trajectories by database have been compared with the store trajectories by CTS(Captive Trajectory Simulation) of CFD. The trajectories provided by the database of flow angularity have a good agreement with the store trajectories by CFD.

The type of pedestrian accident can be characterized by vehicular frontal shape and the height of pedestrian. The trajectory of pedestrian after collision by passenger car is different from that by bus due to vehicular frontal shape. The frontal shape of SUV vehicles is dissimilar to passenger car and bus. So, the trajectory and throw distance of pedestrian by SUV vehicles is not the same of passenger car and bus. In this paper, a series of pedestrian kinetic simulation were conducted to inspect the difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car and bus by PC-CRASH that is the program for kinetic analysis of articulated body. From the results, if the height of pedestrian is taller than 1.70m, there is no difference in throw distance between SUV vehicle and passenger car, but if the height of pedestrian is about 1.55m throw distance of SUV vehicle is about 4m longer than that of passenger car at each impact speed. The throw distance of pedestrian by Bus is shorter than that of passenger car and SUV at each impact speed.

In this paper, we propose an optimal design for starfish capturing manipulator module with four-bar linkage mechanism. A tool link with compliance is attached on the four-bar linkage, and the tool repeats detaching starfish from the ground and putting it into the storage box. Since the tool is not rigid and the manipulator is operating underwater, the trajectory of the tool tip is determined by its dynamics as well as kinematics. We analyzed the trajectory of the manipulator tool tip by quasi-static analysis considering both kinematics and dynamics. In optimization, the lengths of each link and the tool stiffness are considered as control variables. To maximize the capturing ability, capturing stroke of the four-bar manipulator trajectory is maximized. Reaction force and reaction moment, and other kinematic constraints were considered as inequality constraints.
This paper analyzes organizational behavior of an established firm when disruptive innovation, a change in product architecture, occurs on a previous product. For the analysis, the paper analyzes and compares the behavior of an established fm through product trajectories between NEC (an established firm) and Toshiba (a new entrance) in the Japanese laptop computers industry. An established firm that has developed and produced a previous product is difficult in adapting to a disruptive innovation due to accumulated immense knowledge through a previous product. By using regression model in the product trajectory analysis, the paper analyzes the behavior of established firms. Product trajectory means a pattern of product strategy shown in a series of products. Two facts found in the paper are as follows. First, though NEC was able to develop a laptop computer at the same time with Toshiba, it was restricted by the resources of a previous product in the early stage. Second, possibility of teaming trap in the adapting process was found. The paper found the risk that too much commitment in one evolution stage would prohibit the adapting behavior in the next evolution stage.

A new technique, namely the combination of satellite and trajectory analysis (CSTA), for exploring the spatio-temporal distribution information of volcanic ash plume (VAP) from volcanic eruption. CSTA uses the satellite derived ash property data and a matching forward-trajectories, which can generate airmass history pattern for specific VAP. In detail, VAP properties such as ash mask, aerosol optical thickness at 11 ${\mu}m$ ($AOT_{11}$), ash layer height, and effective radius from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectro-radiometer (MODIS) satellite were retrieved, and used to estimate the possibility of the ash forecasting in local atmosphere near volcano. The use of CSTA for Iceland's Eyjafjallaj$\ddot{o}$kull volcano erupted in May 2010 reveals remarkable spatial coherence for some VAP source-transport pattern. The CSTA forecasted points of VAP are consistent with the area of MODIS retrieved VAP. The success rate of the 24 hour VAP forecast result was about 77.8% in this study. Finally, the use of CSTA could provide promising results for VAP monitoring and forecasting by satellite observation data and verification with long term measurement dataset.

In this study, a numerical analysis for the piston secondary dynamics of small refrigeration reciprocating compressors is performed. In general, the length of cylinder in this class of compressors is shortened to diminish the frictional losses of the piston-cylinder system. So, the contacting length between piston and cylinder wall is in variable with the rotating crank angle around the BDC of the reciprocating piston. In the problem formulation of the piston dynamics, the change in bearing length of the piston and all corresponding forces and moments are considered in order to determine the piston trajectory, velocity and acceleration at each step. A Newton-Raphson procedure was employed in solving the secondary dynamic equations of the piston. The developed computer program can be used to calculate the entire piston trajectory and the hydrodynamic force and moment as functions of crank angle under compressor running conditions. The results explored the effects of the radial clearance, lubricant viscosity, length of the cylinder wall, and pin location on the stability of the piston.

In this study, aerodynamic coefficients obtained from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using wind tunnel test-like method is compared with coefficients obtained by actual wind tunnel test. Unsteady analysis has performed with using harmonic equation for motion of the external store. Aerodynamic database is generated based on CFD results to simulate 6 degree-of-freedom store separation analysis. Trajectory is obtained from simulation using both CFD-based and test-based database, and results are compared with trajectory from flight test result. It is concluded that generation of database based on CFD with wind tunnel test technique is valid from good agreement of the trajectory.

In this study, the horizontal and vertical structure of wind speed and wind direction were analyzed at the origin of migratory insect pests in China. Wind rose analysis was carried out using the Land-Atmosphere Modeling Package (LAMP) - WRF data, which has the spatiotemporal resolution of about 20 km and 1 hour intervals. Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) was employed for backward trajectory analysis between South Korea and Southeastern China with Global Data Assimilation System (GDAS). The research interest date is July 16, when rice planthopper and leafhopper were observed at the same time. In order to examine where a jet stream occurs in the vertical in source regions and South Korea during the period (July 8 to July 17 in 2021), three-dimensional wind information was extracted and analyzed using the east-west, north-south, and vertical component wind data of the LAM P. The vertical distribution of wind showed that the wind changed in favor of the inflow of migratory insect pests during the period. As a result of analyzing the wind rose, about 30% or more of the wind at a point close to South Korea was classified into the low-level jet stream. In addition, majority of the wind directions for the low-level jet streams (rather than high-level jet streams) at the five origin sites were heading toward South Korea and even Japan, and this was supported by the HYSPLIT-based backward trajectory analysis.

Vehicles experience changes in driving behavior due to the various facilities on the freeway. These sections may cause repetitive traffic congestion when the traffic volume increases, so safety issues may be raised. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to perform microscopic traffic analysis on these sections using drone images and to identify the causes of traffic problems. In the case of drone image, since trajectory data of individual vehicles can be obtained, empirical analysis of driving behavior is possible. The analysis section of this study was selected as the weaving section of Pangyo IC and the sag section of Seohae Bridge. First, the trajectory data was extracted through the drone image. And the microscopic traffic analysis performed on the speed, density, acceleration, and lane change through cell-unit analysis using Generalized definition method. This analysis results can be used as a basic study to identify the cause of the problem section in the freeway. Through this, we aim to improve the efficiency and convenience of traffic analysis.
