Pathogenicity and Polyhedra Morphology of Spilarctia obliqua Nucleopolyhedrosis Virus

  • Spilarctia obliqua(Wlk.) is a serious pest of mulberry which is naturally affected by its nucleopolyhedrosis virus (SoNPV) in field conditions. The polyhedral occlusion bodies (POB's) were hexahedron under scanning and transmission electron microscope and measured 0.42${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 0.67 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in diameter. The symptoms of NPV infected S. obliqua larvae resembled with that of other NPVs' infected lepidopterous larvae. The pathogenicity and potentiality of this virus against S. obliqua was tested in the laboratory conditions and the results showed 100% mortality in larvae inoculated with SoNPV at 6.23${\times}10^5$ POBs/ml. Therefore, SoNPV appears to have a high potential as a microbial biocontrol agent against S. obliqua larvae.

외국인 농업연수생의 근로조건과 직무만족도 (A Study on Working Conditions and Job Satisfaction of Foreigner Agricultural Trainee)

  • This study was carried out to analyze the working conditions and Job Satisfaction of foreigner agricultural trainees. Foreigner training program is governmental project to decrease the shortage of labor resources in farm household and increase of income for trainees, to transfer the agricultural technology to sending country. For this purpose, data were gathered from 110 foreigner agricultural trainees consisted of 91 Uzbekistanian and 19 Mongolian by interview with questionnaire. The results are as follows: 1) the trainee answered to increase the income and technical training regardless of nationality, age, wedding, and types of agriculture. 2) the trainee felt crucial difficulties in language usage and homesick during the training program, 3) Training program should be concretized in working schedule.

Ex-situ Stabilization and Utility Prospects of 'Jata' Ecorace of Tropical Tasar Silkworm Antheraea mylitta Drury

  • Indian tropical tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta D is reported to have forty four ecoraces by way of their adoption to different topographical and vegetational conditions. Of late, another ecorace 'JATA' - univoltine under in-situ condition has been explored which is localized in Thakurmunda area of the foot hills of Simlipal biosphere (Mayurbhanj district) of Orissa, India. The ecorace 'Jata' exhibits superior economic characters over widely commercialized ecoraces of Daba and Sukinda. The cocoon production of localized 'Jata' ecorace is depleting day by day in in-situ condition. In the present study, efforts were made to stabilize the ecorace 'Jata' under ex-situ condition at Ranchi (Jharkhand), where the 'Jata' ecorace silkworms were reared on Terminalia tomentosa for four successive generations during 2006 and 2007 and the cocoons were preserved in grainage house under prevailing climatic conditions. The results indicated change in voltinism behaviour of the 'Jata' ecorace from univoltine to bivoltine. The rearing performance and grainage efficiencies indicate the tendency of 'Jata' ecorace towards acclimatization and stabilization under Ranchi climatic conditions. The 'Jata' ecorace manifests the prospects for acclimatization, stabilization and commercial exploitation.

Effect of Acute Aquatic Plyometric Training on Muscle Strength, Edema and Pain

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the pre- and post-exercise performance, edema, and pain of plyometrics in water and land environments. Twelve males in their 20s were selected as subjects and performed 10 sets of squat jumps 10 times in 2 environmental conditions (water and ground). There was no significant difference in iEMG of vastus medilais according to exercise conditions and time. In MPV of CMJ, there was no significant difference according to exercise conditions and time. The thigh circumference showed a significant difference according to the exercise condition and time, and was higher in the ground condition after exercise. There was a significant difference in pain according to the exercise condition and time, and it was found to be high after exercise, 48 hours, and 72 hours in the ground condition. We believe that plyometric training in an aquatic environment will have less swelling and pain compared to plyometric training conducted in a land environment, and the pain will improve quickly, so we think that training can be conducted in a relatively shorter period than in the land environment.

전공의법 시행에 따른 전공의 수련환경 변화 (Changes in the Training Conditions of Residents by Enforcement of Medical Residents Act)

  • 전공의법은 2015년 12월 전공의의 권리보호, 환자안전, 우수한 의료 인력을 양성하기 위해 제정되었다. 본 연구는 전공의를 대상으로 2015년(1,793명)과 2017년(1,768명) 두 차례 실시한 설문조사 결과를 비교하여 전공의법 시행에 따른 수련환경 변화를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 전공의들은 주당 평균 80시간을 초과하여 근무하고 있었으며('15=92.4h, '17=87.3h), 36시간의 두 배에 달하는 시간을 연속해서 근무하고 있었다('15=89.4h, '17=70.1h). 이 외출산휴가('15=78.5day, '17=82.2day), 표준근로계약서 작성('15=19.3%, '17=40.8%) 및 계약서 교부('15=12.4%, '17=36.1%)도 규정을 준수하지 않고 있었다. 전공의 수련환경은 환자안전 및 국민 건강과 직결되는 문제로 대체인력에 대한 지원, 공정한 수련환경평가와 평가결과에 따른 인센티브 부여, 전공의 및 지도전문의 인건비, 전문과목별 수련 프로그램 개발 비용 등 국가의 지원이 필요하다.

Line${\times}$Tester Analysis of Certain Quantitative Traits in Silkworm Bombyx mori L. under Optimum and Stress Rearing Conditions

  • The combining abilities in the 5 newly evolved thermo tolerant breeds viz., SR6, SR7, SR8 SR9 and SR10 of silkworm Bombyx mori L. and their 15 hybrids were made in a line${\times}$tester crossing programme. Data were analysed for seven quantitative traits i.e., pupation rate, cocoon yield, cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio, filament length and raw silk percentage under optimum room temperature $(25{\pm}{1^{\circ}C})$ conditions (In case of high temperature $(36{\pm}{1^{\circ}C})$ stress conditions five economic traits except filament length and raw silk percentage) with 3 widely adapted testers i.e., KA, CSR2 and CC1 as lines (females) and testers (males) respectively. The performance at high temperature and low humidity conditions aye only taken into consideration for selecting the best lines/hybrids. Among the lines SR6 exhibited positive General combining ability (GCA) effects for pupation rate, cocoon yield, cocoon weight and cocoon shell ratio traits, followed by SR7 for pupation rate, cocoon yield and cocoon shell weight and cocoon shell ratio. Among testers, KA exhibited positive GCA effects for two quantitative traits cocoon yield, cocoon weight and CSR2 for cocoon shell weight and cocoon shell ratio under adverse temperature conditions. The hybrid SR6${\times}$CC1 and SR7${\times}$CSR2 exhibited significant positive Specific combining ability (SCA) effects for majority of the traits in high temperature stress conditions of rearing. The better parent value of heterosis(Heterobeltiosis) was exhibited by the hybrid SR6${\times}$CC1 for pupation rate, cocoon yield, cocoon weight and cocoon shell weight and SR7${\times}$CSR2 for all the trails evaluated under high temperature conditions. Based on the results, the lines SR6 and SR7 was judged as best combiners and the hybrids SR6${\times}$CC1 and SR7${\times}$CSR2 can be selected for commercial exploitation in tropical climate.

A Seasonal Indoor Thermal Conditions of a Newly-launched Training Ship

  • The living performances of crews and passengers in cabins have been less received attention, while Korea is a top leading country in ship building industry. To develop a high value added ships like 5-star cruisers, researches on the comfort and productivity in cabins should be carried out with urgent. The purpose of this study is to measure and analyze of the ship's indoor thermal conditions in spring, summer and winter, and also to compare the seasonal differences, of which conditions are supplied from and controlled by marine HVAC The temperature, humidity and air supply volume of 5 different needs of cabins on a training ship were measured through a year, which was launched at Dec. 2005 and totally 246 crews can go on board for education. The following results were obtained: (1)In the spring, the temperature in cabins was measured as $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$ and humidity was below 30%. (2)In the summer, the temperatures was controlled at $21{\sim}27^{\circ}C$ in almost cabins and humidity was between $40{\sim}60%$ which is known as comfort conditions. (3)In the winter, temperature and humidity was maintained between $19{\sim}26^{\circ}C$, and humidity was between $10{\sim}50%$. (4)It is clear that the humidity conditions in cabins are not properly controlled at all through a year to satisfy the Comfort Standards provided by ASHRAE and/or ISO, In conclusion, humidification and dehumidification of cabins must be treated with importance for more comfort living and working environments for crews and passengers.

인공신경망을 활용한 최적 사출성형조건 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Optimized Injection Molding Condition using Artificial Neural Network (ANN))

  • The prediction of final mass and optimized process conditions of injection molded products using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were demonstrated. The ANN was modeled with 10 input parameters and one output parameter (mass). The input parameters, i.e.; melt temperature, mold temperature, injection speed, packing pressure, packing time, cooling time, back pressure, plastification speed, V/P switchover, and suck back were selected. To generate training data for the ANN model, 77 experiments based on the combination of orthogonal sampling and random sampling were performed. The collected training data were normalized to eliminate scale differences between factors to improve the prediction performance of the ANN model. Grid search and random search method were used to find the optimized hyper-parameter of the ANN model. After the training of ANN model, optimized process conditions that satisfied the target mass of 41.14 g were predicted. The predicted process conditions were verified through actual injection molding experiments. Through the verification, it was found that the average deviation in the optimized conditions was 0.15±0.07 g. This value confirms that our proposed procedure can successfully predict the optimized process conditions for the target mass of injection molded products.

A Noble Equalizer Structure with the Variable Length of Training Sequence for Increasing the Throughput in DS-UWB

  • The training sequence with the appropriate length for equalization and initial synchronization is necessary before sending the pure data in the burst transmission type DS-UWB system. The length of the training sequence is one of the factors which make throughput decreased. The noble structure with the variable length of the training sequence whose length can be adaptively tailored according to the channel conditions (CM1,CM2,CM3,CM4) in the DS-USB systems is proposed. This structure can increase the throughput without sacrificing the performance than the method with fixed length of training sequence considering the worst case channel conditions. Simulation results under IEEE 802.15.3a channel model show that the proposed scheme can achieve higher throughput than a conventional one with the slight loss of BER performance. And this structure can reduce the computation complexity and power consumption with selecting the short length of the training sequence.
