  • A computer simulation was carried out to determinate the optimum capacity of bulk type trailer which is used as a tractor attachment. Soil physical properties. such as soil moisture content. bulk density, soil hardness and soil texture were measured in the 10 major rice production area for computer simulation. Mathematical model which include soil physical properties and vehicle factor was used for computer simulation. Most of the soil texture of the investigated area was silty loam. Soil moisture content ranged between 30 and 40% mostly. Soil bulk density was in the range of 1.500 to 1.700 kg/㎥. Soil hardness ranged between 1 to 18 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. Soil hardness incorporate the effects of many soil physical properties such as moisture content texture and bulk density, and so the range of soil hardness was greater than any other physical properties. The capacity of bulk type trailer was above 3000 kg$_{f}$ fer the most of the investigated area. and mostly in the range of 4000 to 6000 kg$_{f}$ depending upon the slip. But for the soft soil area such as Andong and Namyang. tractor itself had mobility problem and showed minus trailer capacity for some places. For this area. the capacity of bulk type trailer ranged between 1000 and 2000 kg$_{f}$ mostly so bulk type trailer should be designed as a small capacity compared to the other area.ared to the other area. area.

  • An attempt was made to mechanize the infield transportation system in a cocoa plantation. A small trailer was designed and fabricated and used with a commercial 2-wheeled walking tractor modified into a 4-wheeled tractor-trailer unit to suit the plantation conditions. The transporter had a capacity of 800 kg and could be loaded with about 1000 cocoa pods at a time and was well within the towing capability of a 10 hp tractor. Time and motion studies were conducted on a 30 acre, 6 year old cocoa plantation intercropped with coconut to compare manual and the tractor-trailer combination in relation to infield transportation. The total time taken to harvest 80 trees manually was computed to be 24 manuhours per hectare whilst the tractor-trailer combination required 18manhours.

  • For achieving economical fuel consumption, an increase in the load bearing capacity, and for environmental conservation, there is a constant demand for lightweight frames of commercial vehicles used in the transportation industry. In this study, a structural analysis of the frame of a heavy flat-bed trailer was performed to determine the optimal design of a new lightweight frame made of high-strength steel. To identify the key design parameters of the trailer frame, Taguchi's orthogonal array was used in the experiments. Using ANSYS, a commercial FEA program, the frame structure was optimized with respect to stress, deflection, and torsional stiffness by performing stress and vibration analyses. A physical model of the trailer was also built to verify the validity of the numerical analyses. Finally, an on-road fatigue test of the new lightweight frame made of the high-strength steel, ATOS80, was performed to confirm the durability of the new design.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the labor requirements and transportation cost of paddy for the different harvest and transportation systems for obtaining a basic reference to the improvement of present harvest-transportation systems. One hundred and eighty five farm households with sack type combine harvester and thirty farm households with bulk type combine harvester were surveyed for thirty counties from eight provinces except jeju and also eleven Rice Processing Complex were covered for this survey. This survey was carried from 8th. October 1997 to 5th. November 1997. For the labor requirements, bulk trailer system require 6.8th/ha, 10.3/ha for sack harvest-tractor trailer, and 8.8h/ha for bulk harvest-container bag. The machinery utilization cost for the different paddy harvest-transportation systems, combine sack harvest-tractor trailer system is 282 thousand won/ha, and most economical compared with other systems. Combine bulk harvest with tractor system was 416 thousands won/ha and combine bulk harvest with container bag system was 446 thousands won/ha. In order to propagate bulk harvest-transportation system, a proper bulk transportation means with considering road condition in the paddy field and paddy size should be developed, and considering cycle time it appeared that the proper capacity of bulk container was 3.5ton at the present.

  • The major subject of this paper is to develop the concept fur a Korea high speed train system and recommend to train configuration. High speed train configurations are basically concerned traction power(train configurations with concentrated; CPT or distributed Power system: DPT) and train design(single car as compared with articulated bogies). The result of configuration, a advantages and disadvantaged were necessitated by different train configurations; -distributed underfloor power have an increased length for the seats by 15% as compared with the concentrated power trait - articulated trainsets are characterised by less of number of bogies and reduced values of mass, train resistance, noise and vibration. from the result, the optimized train concept combining high seat capacity per train length with low weight and train resistance is 400m long, single -floor train composed of two symmetrically arranged half trainsets. Therefore, at this work recommended distributed train system However, the final decision of Korea high speed train configuration was concentrated power train and articulated bogie system. The configuration of trainset was 20cars included 2 power cars, 4 motorized cars and 14 trailer cars.

  • Shale shaker which is one of the mud circulation systems is composed of a basket, a vibrator and a screen. Its purpose of a shale shaker is to induce drilling fluid to flow through a screen, transport solids across a screen surface, and discharge solids off the end of the screen. The new shale shaker for the on-shore drilling system is designed to be smaller than the original shale shaker which has the same capacity with the new on to enable to transport and to operate on the trailer. In this study, structural and vibrational analysis of shale shaker was carried out to evaluate the appropriateness of the design in terms of the structural stability.

  • Off-Site Construction is being widely adopted as an alternative to solve endemic problems in construction industry such as low productivity and efficiency. However, it is strongly recommended to examine the transportation process to be optimized because it determines the size of a modular and influences the cost of the construction. Therefore, in this study simulation model for optimization of modular construction transportation plan was developed using AnyLogic. As a result of the study, the influence of trailer transport capacity and transport time increases as the number of modular which should be transported from factory to site increases.
