  • The object of ATM network is to the guarantee quality of service(QoS). Therefore, various of traffic management schemes have been proposed. Among these schemes, call admission control(CAC) is very important to provide real-time services and ON-OFF model, which is single source traffic model, has been used. But ON-OFF model differ from GCRA(Generic Cell Rate Algorithm) controlled traffic in ATM network. In this paper, we analyze the traffic, which is controlled as dual GCRA, and propose TWM(Three-state Worst-case Model), which is new single source traffic model. We also proposed CAC to guarantee peak-to-peak CDV(Cell Delay Variation) based on the TWM. In experiments, ON-OFF model and TWM are compared to show that TWM is superior to ON-Off model in terms of QoS guaranteeing.

  • The advanced traffic management system of intelligent transport systems automates the related traffic tasks such as vehicle speed, traffic volume and traffic incidents through the improved infrastructures like high definition cameras, high-performance radar sensors. For the safety of road users, especially, the automated incident detection and secondary accident prevention system is required. Normally, CCTV based image object detection and radar based object detection is used in this system. In this paper, we proposed the algorithm for real time highway incident detection system using multi surveillance cameras to mosaic video and track accurately the moving object that taken from different angles by background modeling. We confirmed through experiments that the video detection can supplement the short-range shaded area and the long-range detection limit of radar. In addition, the video detection has better classification features in daytime detection excluding the bad weather condition.

  • In order to test and evaluate the various functions and services of NGN would be promised, a specified methodology is needed and a development for the identification of testing object, configuration and test traffic are required. Simulation and analytical modeling methodshave used for IP performance testing, but further study issue still remains. This paper proposes new evaluation methodology to achieve an objective approach rather than a subjective and isolated, based on the real-field environment, for NGN network. For this purpose, background traffic pattern to interfere test traffic was specified and it was tested in actual NGN testbed with systems having NGN technology, such as per bandwidth and packet size. The results shows the suggested methodology is appropriate, comparing with parameters which are Delay, Jitter and Loss the current approach for the end-to-end performance evaluation on NGN.

  • More people prefer using rail traffic for travel or for commuting owing to its convenience and flexibility. The railway scenario has become an important communication scenario in the fifth generation era. The communication system should be designed to support high-data-rate demands with seamless connectivity at a high mobility. In this paper, the channel characteristics are studied and modeled for the railway tunnel scenario with straight and curved route shapes. On the basis of measurements using the "Mobile Hotspot Network" system, a three-dimensional ray tracer (RT) is calibrated and validated for the target scenarios. More channel characteristics are explored via RT simulations at 25.25 GHz with a 500-MHz bandwidth. The key channel parameters are extracted, provided, and incorporated into a 3rd-Generation-Partnership-Project-like stochastic channel generator. The necessary channel information can be practically realized, which can support the link-level and system-level design of the communication system in similar scenarios.

  • Road traffic accidents (RTAs) are the leading cause of accidental death among children. RTA reduction is becoming an increasingly important social issue among children. Municipalities aim to resolve this issue by introducing "Smart Pedestrian Crosswalks" that help prevent traffic accidents near children's facilities. Nonetheless such facilities tend to be installed in relatively limited number of areas, such as the school zone. In order for budget allocation to be efficient and policy effects maximized, optimal location selection based on machine learning is needed. In this paper, we employ machine learning models to select the optimal locations for smart pedestrian crosswalks to reduce the RTAs of children. This study develops an optimal location index using variable importance measures. By using k-means clustering method, the authors classified the crosswalks into three types after the optimal location selection. This study has broadened the scope of research in relation to smart crosswalks and traffic safety. Also, the study serves as a unique contribution by integrating policy design decisions based on public and open data.

  • We tried to show the course of UTIS vitalization, promoting to introduce as part of the advanced traveler information system through analysis using traffic information gap model of service and structural equation modeling being used by drivers. The summary of the research is as follows. 1. We could find out the service matters needed to improve and what should be prior that make drivers' use increase through establishing the gap model of service. 2. We could establish the structural equation modeling through using traffic information use satisfaction rate, entire traffic information satisfaction rate as the observation variables. You can say it is the fruit of this research that it was confirmed the entire satisfaction rate of traffic information influenced extension, convenience, accuracy, economical efficiency in order. We could also arrange the base to determine the order of services for vitalization of UTIS in the future through grasping the priority of each service functions classified by factors. 3. It is confirmed that many drivers want multimedia function, driving support function and various functions for the personal convenience in situations except driving, which enable the drivers to enjoy leisures and interests rather than economical functions during driving due to the recent social and economic changes.

  • Throughput response characteristics depending on the network bandwidth allocation is needed to be modeled to devise adaptive control mechanism to support QoS of the local network. In this study, we propose a dynamic system model that reveals the response characteristics of network. The adaptive traffic feedback control is applied to this model. And we simulate this system for optimization of adaptive control mechanism.

  • Trajectory modeling is foundational for 4D-Route modeling, conflict detection and air traffic flow management. This paper proposes a novel algorithm based Vincenty's fomulas for trajectory calculation, combined with the Dijkstra algorithm and Vincenty's formulas. Using flight plan simulations our experimental results show that our method of En-route trajectory calculation exhibits much improved performance in accuracy.

  • The elasticity of a model is considered most important. Without showing the proper elasticity any model cannot provide useful information for decision making. This paper demonstrates a macro model which can generate dynamic transport informations every 15 minutes. Without the Wardrop principles and the monotonicity assumptions for the link travel time and link volume relationship, the basic elements of this new modeling approache are composed of link density simulation, stochastic incremental route choice, departure time choice, destination choice and mode choice. The elasticity of the proposed model is examined based on elasticity equations and simulation results. Also the transferability from a mega city like Seoul to a big city like Daejon is demonstrated for the choice model. The issues centering around the dynamic relations among density(k), speed(u), and flow rate(v) are also discussed for the modeling of highly congested situations.

  • Fixed lighting of public ways for both vehicles and pedestrians can create a nighttime environment in which people see comfortably and can quickly and accurately identify objects on the roadway being travelled roadway lighting can improve traffic safety, achieve efficient traffic movement and promote the general use of the facility during darkness. The design of a roadway lighting system involves consideration of visibility, economics, esthetics, safety and environmental conditions. This paper describe estimation of horizontal illuminance by actual measurement at main streets in Jejusi. We try to evaluate Jejusi Roadway Lighting Conditions for modeling by computer simulation.
