Measurement of RTT for TCP Congestion Control (TCP 혼잡제어를 위한 RTT(Round trip time) 측정)

  • TCP congestion control algorithm prevents network congestion through the control of outgoing traffic size. The network, therefore, should monitor the incoming traffic size of a TCP to determine whether or not a TCP follows standard congestion control algorithms. Some TCP friendly test algorithms are proposed, But, these algorithms cannot be used in real environments because a router in a network does not know the RTT of a TCP flow. In this study, we propose a new RTT determination algorithm that can be used in a router. Our proposed algorithms is validated through the simulation studies.

Segmentation and Recognition of Korean Vehicle License Plate Characters Based on the Global Threshold Method and the Cross-Correlation Matching Algorithm

  • The vehicle license plate recognition (VLPR) system analyzes and monitors the speed of vehicles, theft of vehicles, the violation of traffic rules, illegal parking, etc., on the motorway. The VLPR consists of three major parts: license plate detection (LPD), license plate character segmentation (LPCS), and license plate character recognition (LPCR). This paper presents an efficient method for the LPCS and LPCR of Korean vehicle license plates (LPs). LP tilt adjustment is a very important process in LPCS. Radon transformation is used to correct the tilt adjustment of LP. The global threshold segmentation method is used for segmented LP characters from two different types of Korean LPs, which are a single row LP (SRLP) and double row LP (DRLP). The cross-correlation matching method is used for LPCR. Our experimental results show that the proposed methods for LPCS and LPCR can be easily implemented, and they achieved 99.35% and 99.85% segmentation and recognition accuracy rates, respectively for Korean LPs.

  • 현재 Network 의 취약점인 Node 들의 빠른 이동성을 지원하기 위하여 MANET 이라는 이동단말로만 이루어진 Network model 이 현재 연구 중에 있다. 그러나 MANET 은 별도의 Router 없이 이동 노드로만 이루어져있으므로 각 노드는 자신의 목적지에 대한 경로를 각자 알아내야 한다. 따라서 각 노드는 목적지까지의 경로를 알아내기 위한 RREQ 메시지를 모든 Network 노드로 Broadcasting 하는데 Network 이 커질 경우 각 노드들이 전체 Network으로 Broadcasting하는 RREQ 메시지로 인하여 커다란 Network 부하를 만들어 낸다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 RREQ 메시지에 의한 Network 부하를 줄이고자 MANET의 Routing Protocol의 한 종류인 ZRP를 개선하여 각 Zone들을 그룹으로 묶어 그룹내의 노드 목록을 캐쉬에 저장함으로써 전체 network 으로 RREQ 를 Broadcasting 하지 않고 Group내에서 1차적으로 전송하여 Network의 부하를 줄이고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 이더넷(Ehternet)의 네트워크 진단과 분석을 위해 필수적인 트래픽 발생기(traffic generator)를 설계하고 구현한다. 이더넷 트래픽은 패킷의 양과 프로토콜의 종류 그리고 패킷의 길이 등에 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서 구현하고자 하는 트래픽 발생기는 이 세가지 항목을 편리한 사용자 인터페이스를 통해 선택하여 다양한 네트워크 트래픽을 발생하는 것을 목표로 한다. 구현된 트래픽 발생기 VTG 는 허브, 라우터 등 네트워크 장비의 성능 평가와 패킷을 모니터링하는 소프트웨어들인 네트워크 진단 시스템과 침입탐지 시스템 등의 성능 평가 및 검증을 위해 사용될 수 있다.

Medium Access Control with Dynamic Frame Length in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Wireless sensor networks consist of sensor nodes which are expected to be battery-powered and are hard to replace or recharge. Thus, reducing the energy consumption of sensor nodes is an important design consideration in wireless sensor networks. For the implementation of an energy-efficient MAC protocol, a Sensor-MAC based on the IEEE 802.11 protocol, which has energy efficient scheduling, has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a Dynamic S-MAC that adapts dynamically to the network-traffic state. The dynamic S-MAC protocol improves the energy consumption of the S-MAC by changing the frame length according to the network-traffic state. Using an NS-2 Simulator, we compare the performance of the Dynamic S-MAC with that of the S-MAC protocol.

  • It was already proved that ATM stability and flexibility of service application, but because of the various characteristics of traffics and the QoS on user demand caused by them, there are a lot of researches for traffic management method. However, there are a few of researches for ATM routing method acting on traffic management practically. In this paper, we focus on multi-path routing method transporting cells with multiple paths and compare this method with existing single path routing method and analyze multi-path routing method into three elements with simple formula and propose anew methods improving the performance of ATM routing and simulate these methods.

  • As the Distributed Denial of Service attack technique is getting smarter, defense method have been developed by various means. Existing defense method baseds on detection technique is not effective to DDoS attack. Because it depend on rule set that is used to detect attack and DDoS attack pattern has become very similar to real traffic pattern. So the rule set is not efficient method to find DDoS attack. To solve this problem, DDoS defense mechanism based on QoS technique has been suggested. In this paper, we summarize existing DDoS defense mechanism and focus on method based on QoS, and introduce a new DDoS defense framework.

Effective Mobile Data Offloading using DBSCAN (DBSCAN을 사용한 효과적인 모바일 데이터 오프로딩)

  • Recently, many researchers claim that mobile data offloading is a key solution to alleviating overloaded cellular traffic by dividing the overloaded traffic with femtocells, WiFi networks or users. In this paper, we propose an idea to select a group of users, known as VIPs, that is able to effectively transfer the data to others using Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Application with Noise, also known as DBSCAN algorithm. We conducted our experiments using NCCU real trace dataset. The results show that our proposed idea offload about 70~77% of the network with VIP set size of four, which is better than the compared methods.

A Fuzzy Traffic Light Controller Adaptable to the Congestion of Traffic based on the Membership Function Modification Algorithm (소속함수 수정 알고리즘에 의한 혼잡상황에 적응하는 퍼지 교통 신호 제어기)

  • 본 연구에서는 상류부 교차로에서 발생하는 교차로 막힘 현상으로 인해 진행방향의 녹색시간의 손실이라는 장애가 발생하게되는 상황을 고려하기 위해 진행차선의 정체도를 도입하여 교통 혼잡상황에 적절히 대응할 수 있는 퍼지 교통신호 제어기를 제안한다. 먼저 입출력 공간을 균등 분할한 퍼지 교통신호 제어기를 구성하고, 소속함수 수정알고리즘에 의해 제어기를 수정한다. 실험을 통해 고정식 제어기, 균등 분할한 제어기와 수정된 제어기의 성능을 교차로 지체시간, 진입율과 통과율 면에서 비교하였다. 실험 결과는 수정된 제어기가 다른 제어기들에 비해 향상된 성능을 보여주었다.

  • This paper is for EPC(Evolved Packet Core) network to share the load balance by IMSI(International Mobile Subscriber Identity) prefix in MME(Mobility Management Entity). For the telecommunication, it needs to choose the anchoring gateway to use the specific gateway to avoid the traffic load to support the efficient telecommunication service. We propose the way to choose the effective gateway to avoid the traffic load in order for good qualify service. We compare the load between the gateways which are the general gateway and the specific gateway used by proposed concept.
