Research on LOS Estimation Standard in the Mixed Traffic Street (보차혼용도로에서의 LOS 평가기준 마련에 관한 연구)

  • There were many theories to suggest the indicators that evaluate stability and reflect the plan in mixed traffic street in all traffic modes This Paper analyzed residential street of Suwon City adopting time-space occupancy index among these indicates. Three survey street. congregated into apartment house. were selected to analyze this and pictured by video camera over one hour. and the length of these street were 76m, 55m, and 34m each, and major street by each region, comparably high in Pedestrians and pass vehicles, were selected. Basic datum to calculate time-space occupancy index and time-space occupancy index per person was gathered through video analysis. i.e Parameters for pedestrians, cars, bicycles, average speed of bicycles, and parking car. There are some limitation to analyze LOS of mixed traffic street in all traffic modes, not pedestrian mall. Therefore this paper presented evaluation standard of LOS. In conclusion. the aim of this paper is to suggest modeling based on guidelines for evaluating LOS of mixed traffic street in all traffic modes. It is estimated that this will be influencing indicates for improving pedestrian environment, and Planning mixed traffic street in future.

Traffic Analysis and Simulation System for Korea Highway (대한민국 고속도로를 위한 교통 분석 및 시뮬레이션 시스템)

  • Developed countries have already applied variable Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technologies and have solved many transportation problems. Researchers also expect that ITS solutions can solve the transportation problems of Korean roads, when they are applied to Korean roads. However, since the existing ITS solutions applied in other countries are used for Korean roads without calibration, they will incur unexpected problems and high cost maintenance costs. In this paper, to solve the above problem, we propose the Korean Highway Traffic Analysis tool (KHTA). It not only analyzes all highway information in Korea, but also simulates the ITS algorithm implemented by traffic developers for the Korean highway environment. To test the stability, applicability and efficiency of the KHTA, we developed and analyzed the result of the ramp metering algorithm. The results show that the total travel time was reduced by 5 minutes compared to that without ramp metering, and traffic congestion was decreased. Thus, we confirmed that the KHTA can simulate ITS systems and can analyze the traffic environment in Korean highway. We expect that this tool would be very helpful to develop and analyze ITS systems in Korea.

A Study on the Durability and Running Stability Evaluation of the Korean PRT (한국형 소형궤도차량(PRT)의 내구성 및 주행안정성 평가 연구)

  • The PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) system is highly interested to meet a need for demand-responsive transport service and increasing demands of traffic in Korea recently. And it is being spotlighted as an eco-friendly transportation system. For these reasons, researches on the PRT system are actively undergoing in Korea. In this study, we evaluated the static structural and fatigue strengths based on ASCE-APM standards and ERRI B 12/RP 17 by means of FE simulation. We also evaluate the running stability by multi-body dynamic analyses and the rollover safety by a theoretical static stability factor according to the road modeling scenarios for the PRT system. From the results of this study, we confirmed the durability and running stability of the Korean PRT under development.

Simulation Analysis on Flexible Multibody Dynamics of Drum Brake System of a Vehicle

  • Using flexible multibody system dynamic method, the rigid-flexible coupling multibody dynamic analysis model of the drum brake system was developed, and the kinematic and dynamic simulation of the system was processed as its object of study. Simulations show that the friction will increase with the dynamic friction coefficient, but high dynamic friction coefficient will cause the abnormal vibration and worsen the stability of the brake system, even the stability of the whole automobile. The modeling of flexible multi-body can effectively analyze and solve complex three-dimensional dynamic subjects of brake system and evaluate brake capability. Further research and study on this basis will result in a convenient and effective solution that can be much helpful to study, design and development of the brake system.

A Case Study on the Reinforcement Method of Subway Tunnel (도심지 지하철 터널의 지반보강공법 시공사례 연구)

  • The NATM(New Austrian Tunnelling Method) has been used for tunnelling since 1980's. But Collapses of tunnel under construction take place frequently, especially at urban areas because of adjacent buildings, underground conduits and traffic loads. This paper is a case study on the reinforcement method of subway tunnel at urban areas. In this study, ground inspection, geological investigation, laboratory test and numerical analysis by means of FDM program were carried out. The tunnel excavation was stopped because of over excessive brake of tunnel crown and shotcrete was installed to prevent deformation of adjacent ground as the temporary method. From the result of field survey and geological investigation, it is found that the soft weathered soil was distributed to the ground of tunnel invert unlike original investigation. The results of the analysis and the study show that the SGR(Space Grouting Rocket) method and Umbrella method can be applied for the stability of tunnel excavation and in addition the reinforcement of concrete lining is required for long-term stability of tunnel.

  • As the traffic congestion and parking problems in urban areas are increased the tall and narrow commuter vehicles have interested as a means to increase the utilization of existing freewa- ys and parking facilities. However, in hard cornering those vehicles could reduce stability against overturning compared to conventional vehicles. This tendency can be mitigated by tilting the body toward the inside of the turn. In this paper those tilting vehicles are considered in which at speed at least, the tilt angle is controlled by steering the front wheels. In other word, if the driver turns the steering wheel the tilt controller automatically steers the road wheel to tilt the body inside of the turn. Also, the dynamic tilting vehicle model with tire slip angles is constructed by adding the roll degree of freedom. Finally, through computer simulation the behaviors of the tilting vehicles are investigated.

  • Cut slope and facility of management investigation is the protection of humans and properties. it is very important the prevention of disaster facility and the damage of the slope protection facility. It is very difficult to forecast slope stability, disaster possibility and collapse. It will be able to minimize the damage which it prepare against slope facility and cut slope of deformable investigation and collapse and the disaster. therefore those deformable investigation is important. Investigations execute upheaval, crack, sliding for slope and cut slope reinforcement. Investigation executes forecast in place where the construction problem, the effect which the damage in road traffic or the contiguity facility.

  • In recent years, the remarkable development of communication network technology with the increasing demand of B-ISDN service helps the higg-speed ATM network to be applied a fully integrated global network. The considerable issue of high-speed communication network is a performance of service-link and stability of network queue. In this paper, we propose a feedback control algorithm and PID control method to improve the performance of service-link and stability of network queue and confirm upgraded traffic performance of the high-speed ATM network.

  • The development of railway vehicles such as new mechanism of railway vehicle or design parameters of suspension have been used the application of scaled roller rig to the study of railway vehicle dynamics. In this paper, the critical speed was compared between full scale and 1:5 scale of numerical model. And to verify the simulation results, the critical speed was confirmed using the 1:5 scaled roller rig. According to the results, we expect that the developed roller rig will be used in the study for the dynamic characteristics of railway vehicle.

  • For the robust passenger NCAP 5star and the stable neck injury performance, a new concept of passenger airbag has been required strongly. Especially, the deployment stability and the vent hole control technology of the passenger airbag should be improved. According to these requirements, the deployment stability technique has been studied and the 'Active Vent' technology has been developed. As a result, these technologies have led to achieve the robust NCAP rating and are applied to the production vehicles.
