Objectives : The aim of this experiment is to find out relationship between the effect of cosmetics and 4 types of pattern identification about fluid-humor, which are based on the general idea of traditional oriental medicine, Qi-Blood and deficiency-excess. Methods : Korean female volunteers in good health (n=25, $23.12{\pm}2.83$) participated in this experiment. Three Korean medical doctors classified them into 4 groups: Blood-deficiency: group A; Blood-excess: group B; Qi-deficiency:group C; Qi-excess:group D). Cosmetics that contains herb extract for Blood deficiency were given to all volunteers and they used the cosmetics for 4 weeks. Volunteers were assessed non-invasively with the skin measuring devices before and after using cosmetics. And we analyzed the correlation of skin physiological parameters with 4 groups. Results : Three doctors diagnosed participants and classified them into 4 groups ; group A(n=8),group B(n=7), group C(n=3), group D(n=5) as highest score. After 4 weeks, facial skin moisture showed no significant difference in comparison between 4 groups. Sebum showed significant increase in Group A and significantly decreased Group B. Measurement of facial skin elasticity tended to increase in Group A, C, D but skin elasticity was decreased significantly in Group B. Conclusions : In case of a group that pattern identification about fluid-humor corresponds to herb extract in cosmetic, skin improving effect was better than the other group that pattern identification oppose to properties of herb in cosmetic. Therefore, from the view of traditional oriental medicine, it is very important to understand user's pattern of identification or physical conditions and properties of herbs in cosmetics on the matter of safety and efficacy.

Objectives: As treating acne is difficult and demands of cosmetic are increasing, the development of new Korea traditional herbal formulation and functional cosmetics of acne is required. The aim of this study is the discovery and composition for the development of new Korea traditional herbal formulation and functional cosmetics of acne. Methods: Searched patent informations related to herbal cosmetics published in 1996~2014, we extracted the patent information and analysis component about effecting of anti-inflammatory and anti-acne. Results: Out of 759 patent informations we searched, 72 those about effecting anti-inflammatory and anti-acne were selected. Also, 159 components of 72 patent informations were reclassified by frequency and characteristic. Conclusions: We expect the effect and safety of new traditional herbal formulation which is composed of high frequency herb in patent informations related to herbal cosmetics.

맥문동, 차가버섯, 감초, 흑삼, 백출, 백복령, 당귀, 숙지황, 천궁, 작약의 추출물을 이용한 한방소재로 에센스와 크림을 제조하여 눈가의 주름개선 효과를 평가하였다. 평균연령 44.8세의 한국인 중년여성 6명을 대상으로 에센스 사용 후 크림 사용으로 매일 2회씩(아침, 저녁), $1cm^2$당 2mg씩, 4주간 연속 사용하도록 한 다음, 4주 경과 후 눈가 주름의 모사판을 제작하여 영상 분석하였다. 눈꼬리 주름 모사판 영상분석 결과, 에센스와 크림 사용 4주 후 주름 R1은 $3.22{\pm}0.85$에서 $2.38{\pm}0.32$, R2는 $3.08{\pm}0.83$에서 $2.22{\pm}0.32$, R3는 $2.29{\pm}0.64$에서 $2.29{\pm}0.64$, R4는 $0.44{\pm}0.14$에서 $0.44{\pm}0.14$, R5는 $0.98{\pm}0.21$에서 $0.98{\pm}0.21$로 유의하게 감소하여(P<0.05), 본 시료는 눈가주름개선에 효과 있는 것으로 평가되었다.

일반적으로 쌍떡잎식물 국화과 허브의 한 종인 에키네시아는 미국 북미 대평원에 서식하는 야생 식물로 수세기 동안 감기나 또 다른 바이러스 감염에 의한 질병에 대하여 면역 기능을 증진시키는 전통 식물 약제로 널리 사용되어왔다. 본 연구에서는 생물반응장치를 이용하여 조직 배양된 에키네시아 식물체에 대하여 화장품 성분으로써 응용 가치를 평가하였다. 이미 몇몇 보고된 논문에서 에키네시아는 조직재생, 상처 치유, 그리고 염증 억제 등의 약리학적 활성에 대한 연구가 진행되었다. 본 연구에서는 생물반응장치를 이용하여 조직 배양된 에키네시아 추출물에 대하여 화장품 성분으로서 효능, 효과를 평가하였다. 실험 결과 조직배양된 에키네시아 추출물은 항산화 효과 및 단백분해효소 발현 억제 효과가 자연 상태의 에키네시아 추출물과 비교하여 우수한 결과를 보였다. 이러한 결과들은 피부보호를 위한 화장품 성분으로서 응용 가능성을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
