As the most widely used media of BtoB e-business, the e-Marketplace (EM) can play an important role in the age of c-commerce (collaborative commerce). In supply chain management (SCM) area, the relationship-based collaboration among partners has shown great efficiency. Although the collaboration is important in both areas of EM and SCM there has been a critical difference in the selection of trade partners between them. In this paper, the EM's collaborative stages for integration with its customer system are reviewed and a system architecture is proposed for EM's electronic functional role within the perspective of collaborative commerce and buyer-supplier relationship. The relationship-based BtoB commerce through EM is reviewed to explain that it can be more beneficial than the commerce based on the price competitive selection of trade partners. With the proposed system architecture, an EM can be the functional medium for the collaborative IOIS system architecture.
The evaluation of port competition could be applied to determining the selection of a calling port. A few fundemental attributes of port competition were adapted by the 'brain storming' method. The criteria used for evaluating a port's competitiveness were as follows: efficiency of port operations, competitive power of each port's industry, economic activity of the hinderland associated with each port and capability of globalization. The weight of each criterion was 30%, 40%, 20% & 10%, respectively. And the most important factors that were considered in choosing each of the above criteria were profitability, port information system, cargo volume & inducement of foreign capital. The results of this study seemed to suggest that factors which influence port competition varied according to port circumstances, such as computer and communication systems and access to the global trade within the World Trade Organization
This paper seeks to recommend strategic policy options geared towards enhancing sophistication level of Ulsan City's major export industries in the Republic of Korea. Ulsan's major export industries, including shipbuilding, automobile and petrochemical industries, turn out to be based mostly on low to medium technology with low R&D intensity suggesting relatively low level of product sophistication. Using a recent Eurostat high-tech industry classification table which suggests 9 high-tech industries, the paper identifies Ulsan's chemical industry as the only RCA industry. Focusing on chemical industry products at HS 6-digit level, specific products are identified at the efficiency frontier for future policy considerations.
The Chinese government has been promoting core industries in accordance with the 'Made in China 2025'. As a result of injecting huge subsidies to develop core industries, a great success has been achieved in the electric vehicle and battery industry, however, the semiconductor industry has almost no performance. This study aims to examine whether the subsidy policy of a developing country helps their own domestic firm to overcome the first mover advantage of an advanced country's firm. From the game theoretical analysis, the results have shown that the subsidy policy of the developing country's government creates the profits shifting effect which arises from the developed country's firm to the developing country's firm. When there exists R&D efficiency gap between the two firms, however, most of these profit shifting effects are offset, which implies that the subsidy policy of developing countries is likely to fail.
This paper analyses carbon emissions and value-added embodied in trade between two large developed countries, South Korea and the United States, during 2000-2014. Using multi-regional input-output (MRIO) tables, our analysis reveals that carbon emissions and value-added embodied in exports grew by 19% and 101% for South Korea but shrank by 43% and 7% for the United States. As a result, South Korea experienced a 40% increase in net carbon exports and 243% increase in net value-added exports. At the industry level, the primary drivers of changes in carbon exports were electricity and basic materials. The majority of industries in witnessed improvements in carbon intensities suggesting improved environmental efficiency. While both countries achieved a decoupling of carbon emissions from value-added exports, substantial year-to-year and sectoral variations were observed. Finally, structural decomposition analysis indicates that domestic supply-side factors played a role in decreasing emissions whereas foreign demand-side factors contributed to emissions increases. In line with the main findings, various implications for policy and future research are discussed.
In this paper, we present a new empirical method to estimate the environmental efficiency of decision making units. We propose a model with a new approach that describes a network process consisting of two stages, production and wastewater abatement based on the data extracted from 51 Korean industrial complexes. Taking into account the inter-dependency of two stages, we show a process how to decompose the environmental efficiency into production efficiency and abatement efficiency. Moreover, our new proposed method can be used to explain the information on network relationship between economic growth and environmental protection.
The energy intensity of Nepal is economically not worthy, lacks eco-friendly and importantly not sustainable, and almost four times the average global energy intensity. Considerable efforts have been exercised to reduce the energy gap yet, it is still much to achieve. Nation priority on energy sector was envisaged with promulgation of investment friendly rules and law in hydropower and renewable technology even though, could not harness the sufficient energy. In amid of this acute energy crisis, the government launched the Nepal Energy Efficiency Programme (NEEP) with technical assistance from German International Cooperation (GIZ). Energy Efficiency (EE) practice is the most cost-effective method to reduce the supply and demand gap, reduce on greenhouse gases and pollution, and deter on import of petroleum products which finally improves on trade imbalance. This paper had proposed a framework of energy management team to promote energy efficient technologies in residential consumer. The energy management teams study the past records of energy use pattern of consumers and suggest appropriate technology for energy saving options. The paper provides some reviews of energy efficiency initiatives undertaken by the concern regulatory body which highlights the current status. The comprehensive knowledge acquired through exploratory research is implemented in this paper to identify the various barriers that domestic consumer is experiencing towards the active participation in energy efficiency program launched by the Government of Nepal.
The WCO Time Release Study (TRS) is a unique tool and method for measuring the actual performance of Customs activities. The ultimate aim of TRS is to improve the performance of the function being measured. To be more specific, TRS is used for identifying bottlenecks in the international supply chain and/or constraints affecting Customs release, assessing newly introduced and modified techniques, procedures, technologies and infrastructure, or administrative changes, establishing baseline trade facilitation performance measurement, identifying opportunities for trade facilitation improvements and estimating the country's approximate comparative position as a benchmark tool. The effective utilization methods of TRS for trade facilitation in Korea Customs Services are as follows ; Firstly, it is necessary to make every efforts to identify bottlenecks in border-related procedures and improve their procedures for continuous and more improved trade facilitation. Secondly, it is necessary to optimize and simplify export-related procedures using the TRS in exportation for efficiency of total international supply chain. Thirdly, it is necessary to make coordinated border management with main trading partners. Lastly, it is necessary to enhance Korea's international status to support underdeveloped countries in the field of trade procedures.

This paper proposes the efficient transmit antenna selection (TAS) scheme considering trade-off between the performance and the complexity in massive MIMO system. The massive MIMO system is a core technology to achieve performance objectives for 5 generation wireless communication. It achieve high spectral efficiency, a reliability, and a diversity gain. However many RF chains required by massive transmit antennas equipped in a base station create the problem such as high hardware cost and complexity. Therefor we investigates the transmit antenna selection scheme, in which the number of RF chains of BS is reduced, and the trade-off between the performance and the complexity is considered for proposed scheme. And, the spectral efficiency and complexity are analysed by transmit antenna selection schemes.

With the advance in semiconductor technology, the number of elements that can be integrated in system-on-chip(SoC) increases exponentially, and thus voltage scaling is indispensable to enhance energy efficiency. Near-threshold voltage computing(NTC) improves the energy efficiency by an order of degree, hence it is able to overcome the limitation of conventional super-threshold voltage computing(STC). Although NTC-based low performance manycore system can be used to maximize energy efficiency, it demands more number of cores to sustain the performance, which results in considerable increase of area. In this paper, we analyze NTC manycore architecture considering the trade-offs between performance, power, and area. Therefore, we propose an algorithmic methodology that can optimize power consumption and area while satisfying the required performance by determining the constrained number of cores and size of caches and clusters in NTC environment. Experimental results show that proposed NTC architecture can reduce power consumption by approximately 16.5 % while maintaining the performance of STC core under area constraint.
