Recently, many industrial electric vehicles have been developed using various ac-motor drive technologies including field oriented vector control. Generally, a magnetic encoder is installed to have resistance to vibration and dust, and it is cost-effective. However, it is difficult to get an accurate rotor speed for high performance of vector control, because a resolution of the magnetic encoder is low and its phase accuracy is poor. In order to overcome this hardware problem, this study proposes a speed measurement algorithm using moving window for low-resolution magnetic encoder. This algorithm is experimentally tested and successfully applied to traction application of industrial electric vehicle.

A propulsion system apparatus is needed for a railroad vehicle to test and estimate propulsion performance. The electrical inertia simulator to facilitate the development and testing of propulsion systems, is presented in this paper. It is based on a vector-controlled induction motor drive supplied from the AC mains through a double PWM converter that provides desirable features such as bi-directional power flow, nearly unity power factor and low harmonic factor at the AC mains. A theoretical analysis is first presented, followed by a detailed simulation study to assess the overall system performance under dynamic conditions.
The rapidly growing demand for electric power systems in electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) require simpler, cost-effective, and higher performance components. In this paper, a novel power conversion system for hybrid electric vehicles is proposed for these needs. The proposed power conversion system reduces the conversion system cost while preserving same functionality. The proposed power conversion system can boost multi-sources to drive a traction motor and to store energy at the same time reducing number of switching components. In this paper, all operational modes of the proposed converter are explained in detail and verified by a computer simulation first. Then, the topology and operational modes are experimentally verified. Based on the results, the feasibility of the proposed multi-mode single leg power conversion system for EV and HEV applications is discussed.
The urban transit propelled by single sided linear induction motor(SLIM) have been in stage for practical application. Also, the use of the linear induction motor in traction systems enables large forces to be achieved without friction between wheels and rails. In this paper we discuss the linear induction motor (LIM) drive system (300KVA) for magnetic levitation vehicles.
The DITC of SRM for smooth hoist driving is presented in this paper. In the hoist system, the switched reluctance motor (SRM) is applied instead of induction motor because of high efficiency and good traction characteristic. In order to improve start-up and stop performance of hoist system, the smoothing operation sequence of SRM using DITC is proposed. According to the switching sequence and hysteric band, the instantaneous torque is controlled. Since, the proposed method uses only the turn-on angle depending on variation of load and speed, a simple DITC can be implemented. The validity is proved by simulation and experiment.
The control method of programmable dynamometer for overall test of machine is to load the reference torque which is computed from torque transducer into motor under test. But the torque information detected from torque transducer have a lot of noise when the load torque of moter is a small quantity or changing. Thus, torque transducer must have a low pass filter to detect a definite torque information. But The torque delay generated by filter with torque transducer occur a torque trouble for meter torque of programmable dynamometer. The proposed system improved the problem of the torque measuring delay with torque transducer, and the load torque is estimated by the minimal order state observer based on the torque component of the vector control induction meter. Therefore, the torque controller is not affected by a load torque disturbance.
The recent operating trains including the high speed train are mostly moving system on the rail and system use the mechanical propulsion force to drive the gear and wheel by the traction motor. Advanced countries are interested in Magnetic Levitation Vehicle and they have been studying about it continuously. Thus this paper is analyzed the feature of analysis the feature for Linear Induction Motor as the propulsion equipment of Magnetic Levitation Vehicle. And the Magnetic Levitation Vehicle is being developed for the transportation system of next generation using the Finite Element Method
A computer program was developed for the simulation of mobility and tractive performance of tracked off-road vehicles. Input parameters for the simulation involve those characterizing track and power drive line of a vehicle and soil conditions upon which the vehicle operates. The simulation predicts tractive performance in terms of soil thrust and motion resistance of track device and mobility performance in terms of the maximum speed, time-distance and time-speed relation that a vehicle can obtain under the given soil conditions. It also determines whether or not the vehicle can move in those conditions. An example of performing simulation was presented and its results showed that the performance prediction was reasonably in a good agreement with the published data.
