This paper proposes an automatic tracking control algorithm for efficiency improvement of photovoltaic generation. Increasing the power of PV systems should improve the efficiency of solar cells or the power condition system. The normal alignment of the PV module always have to run perpendicular to the sun's rays. The solar tracking system, able to improve the efficiency of the PV system, was initiated by applying that to the PV power plant. The tracking system of conventional PV power plant has been studied with regard to the tracking accuracy of the solar cells. Power generation efficiency were increased by aligning the cells for maximum exposure to the sun's rays. Using a perpendicular position facilitated optimum condition. However, there is a problem about the reliability of tracking systems unable to not track the sun correctly during environmental variations. Therefore, a novel control algorithm needs to improve the generation efficiency of the PV systems and reduce the loss of generation. This control algorithm is the proposed automatic tracking algorithm in this paper. Automatic tracking control is combined the sensor and program method for robust control in environment changing condition. This tracking system includes the insolation, rain sensor and anemometer for climate environment changing. Proposed algorithm in this paper, is compared to performance of conventional tracking control algorithm in variative insolation condition. And prove the validity of proposed algorithm through the experimental data.
There are a variety of trajectory and control algorithms available for robot trajectory tracking. Before using the enhanced trajectory and control algorithms to reduce the tracking error, we introduce the new method which reduces the tracking error by clipping the joint velocity. A lot of robot trajectory tracking methods are proposed to enhance the robot tracking, but irregular tracking errors are always accompanied. Up to now, these irregular tracking errors are gradually but uniformly reduced by introducing more complicated control algorithms. It is intuitively obvious to reduce only the big errors selectively in the irregular ones for the better performance. By heuristic method, big tracking errors in these irregular ones are assumed mostly due to the fast moving of joint with respect to the same tracking and control method. So, in this paper, we introduce a new method which reduce the big tracking errors by clippings the joint velocity with the constraint of given path. Using this method, desired trajectory tracking is obtained within the far reduced error bound. Also, this method is successfully applied to generate the path-constrained error reducing trajectories for 2-axis SCARA type robot.

Video based object tracking normally deals with non-stationary image streams that change over time. Robust and real time moving object tracking is considered to be a problematic issue in computer vision. Multiple object tracking has many practical applications in scene analysis for automated surveillance. In this paper, we introduce a specified object tracking based particle filter used in an environment of multiple moving objects. A differential image region based tracking method for the detection of multiple moving objects is used. In order to ensure accurate object detection in an unconstrained environment, a background image update method is used. In addition, there exist problems in tracking a particular object through a video sequence, which cannot rely only on image processing techniques. For this, a probabilistic framework is used. Our proposed particle filter has been proved to be robust in dealing with nonlinear and non-Gaussian problems. The particle filter provides a robust object tracking framework under ambiguity conditions and greatly improves the estimation accuracy for complicated tracking problems.
In general, under interactive broadcasting environment, user finds additional service using top-down menu. However, user can't know that additional service provides information until retrieval has finished and top-down menu requires multi-level retrieval. This paper proposes the new method for additional service providing not using top-down menu but using object selection. For the purpose of this method, the movie of a MPEG should be synchronized with the object information(position, size, shape) and object tracking technique is required. Synchronization technique uses the Directshow provided by the Microsoft. Object tracking techniques use a motion-based tracking and a model-based tracking together. We divide object into two parts. One is face and the other is substance. Face tracking uses model-based tracking and Substance uses motion-based tracking base on the block matching algorithm. To improve precise tracking, motion-based tracking apply the temporal prediction search algorithm and model-based tracking apply the face model which merge ellipse model and color model.

The ground tracking support is a critical factor for the navigation performance of spacecraft orbiting around the Moon. Because of the tracking limit of antennas, only a small number of facilities can support lunar missions. Therefore, case studies for various ground tracking support conditions are needed for lunar missions on the stage of preliminary mission analysis. This study analyzes the ground supporting condition effect on orbit determination (OD) of Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) in the lunar orbit. For the assumption of ground support conditions, daily tracking frequency, cut-off angle for low elevation, tracking measurement accuracy, and tracking failure situations were considered. Two antennas of deep space network (DSN) and Korea Deep Space Antenna (KDSA) are utilized for various tracking conditions configuration. For the investigation of the daily tracking frequency effect, three cases (full support, DSN 4 pass/day and KDSA 4 pass/day, and DSN 2 pass/day and KDSA 2 pass/day) are prepared. For the elevation cut-off angle effect, two situations, which are 5 deg and 10 deg, are assumed. Three cases (0%, 30%, and 50% of degradation) were considered for the tracking measurement accuracy effect. Three cases such as no missing, 1-day KDSA missing, and 2-day KDSA missing are assumed for tracking failure effect. For OD, a sequential estimation algorithm was used, and for the OD performance evaluation, position uncertainty, position differences between true and estimated orbits, and orbit overlap precision according to various ground supporting conditions were investigated. Orbit prediction accuracy variations due to ground tracking conditions were also demonstrated. This study provides a guideline for selecting ground tracking support levels and preparing a backup plan for the KPLO lunar mission phase.

Growing efforts and interests of security techniques in a diverse surveillance environment, the intelligent surveillance system, which is capable of automatically detecting and tracking target objects in multi-cameras environment, is actively developing in a security community. In this paper, we propose an effective visual surveillance system that is avaliable to track objects continuously in multiple non-overlapped cameras. The proposed object tracking scheme consists of object tracking module and tracking management module, which are based on hand-off scheme and protocol. The object tracking module, runs on IP camera, provides object tracking information generation, object tracking information distribution and similarity comparison function. On the other hand, the tracking management module, runs on video control server, provides realtime object tracking reception, object tracking information retrieval and IP camera control functions. The proposed object tracking scheme allows comprehensive framework that can be used in a diverse range of application, because it doesn't rely on the particular surveillance system or object tracking techniques.
Tracking, which is one of the main causes of electrical fires, is perceived as a physical phenomenon of electrical discharge. Hence tracking should be explained based on electric field analysis, conduction path by electron generation, and gas discharge physics. However, few papers have considered these details. This paper proposes a tracking mechanism including their effects on tracking progress. In order to prove this mechanism, a tracking experiment, an electric field analysis for the carbonization evolution model, and an explanation of the tracking process by gas discharge physics were conducted. From the tracking experiment, the current waveforms were measured at each stage of the tracking progress from corona discharge to tracking breakdown. The electric field analysis was carried out in order to determine the electric field on the surface of a dry-band and the high electric field region for electron generation during the generation and progress of carbonization. In this paper, the proposed tracking mechanism consisted of six stages including electron avalanche by corona discharge, accumulation of positive ions, expansion of electron avalanche, secondary electron emission avalanche, streamer, and tracking by conductive path. The pulse current waveforms measured in the tracking experiment can be explained by the proposed tracking mechanism. The results of this study will be used as the technical data to detect tracking phenomenon, which is the cause of electric fire, and to improve the proof tracking index.

Compared with the TWS(Track While Scan) tracking that uses scan-to-scan correlation at search illuminations for targets track, a phased array radar can use adaptive tracking which assigns additional track illuminations and the track formation range can be improved as a result. In this paper, an adaptive tracking, the search and track illuminations of a target are synchronized such that the extra illuminations are evenly distributed between the search illuminations, is proposed. Markov chain and track formation range for the proposed adaptive tracking are shown with them for the conventional TWS. The simulation result shows that the proposed adaptive tracking has improved track formation range by 27.6 % compared with the conventional TWS tracking under same track confirmation criterion.

Heliostat, as a concentrator to reflect the incident solar energy to the receiver, is the most important system in the tower-type solar thermal power plant since it determines the efficiency and ultimately the overall performance of solar thermal power plant. Thus, a good sun tracking ability as well as a good optical property of it are required. Heliostat sun tracking system uses usually an open loop control system. Thus the sun tracking error caused by heliostat's geometrical error, optical error and computational error cannot be compensated. Recently use of sun tracking error model to compensate the sun tracking error has been proposed, where the error model is obtained from the measured ones. This work is a development of heliostat sun tracking error measurement and compensation method using BCS (Beam Characterization System). We first developed an image processing system to measure the sun tracking error optically. Then the measured error is modeled in linear polynomial form and neural network form trained by the extended Kalman filter respectively. Finally error models are used to compensate the sun tracking error. We also developed the necessary image processing algorithms so that the heliostat optical properties such as maximum heat flux intensity, heat flux distribution and total reflected heat energy could be analyzed. Experimentally obtained data shows that the heliostat sun tracking accuracy could be dramatically improved using either linear polynomial type error model or neural network type error model. Neural network type error model is somewhat better in improving the sun tracking performance. Nevertheless, since the difference between two error models in compensation of sun tracking error is small, a linear error model is preferred in actual implementation due to its simplicity.

The tracking performance of a big parabola tracking antenna system for tracking and receiving of the signal from the vehicle is impacted by many factors of the internal and the external of the system. In this paper, we analyze the tracking error due to the radio refraction in the application of the tracking and positioning of the vehicle by using radio frequency. The real measurement data are used for the analysis which had been acquired by using GPS and the tracking systems of C- and S-band frequencies in NARO Space centre. To verify the correlation between the tracking errors measured and the radio refraction, we review the error factors and the accuracies of the tracking systems, and the characteristics of the refractivity. The analysis shows that there are angular errors which are due to the radio refraction and not to be neglected, compared to the accuracies of the tracking systems, in case of low elevation angle less than 10 degrees. Also, the tracking errors depend on the target altitude as well as the elevation angle for the case of the target in the troposphere. It is recommended to correct the tracking angle considering the target altitude and elevation angle for the precise target positioning.
