As track density needs to increase to the order of 10, 000 tpi, the suspension has become a critical component in hard disk drives. One of the main obstacles to attain high track density is the structural resonances of the suspension in lateral direction. We investigate the suspension dynamics through the experimental modal analysis and the finite element method. An LDV (Laser Doppler Vibrometer) is employed to measure the response of the suspension which is excited by a shaker and an inpulse hammer for the free condition and the loaded condition, respectively. After comparing the experimental and numerical results, we study how the initial geometry of the bend region affects the suspension dynamics. It is found that the natural frequency of the sway mode decreases as the bend ratio and the bend angle increase. The shape of torsional mode changes as the mass of a slider increases, resulting in a local decrease in the natural frequency.
As a new type of ballastless track, longitudinal continuous slab track (CST) has been widely used in China. It can partly isolate the interaction between the ballastless track and the bridge and thus the rail expansion device would be unnecessary. Compared with the traditional track, CST is composed of multi layers of continuous structures and various connecting components. In order to investigate the performance of CST on a long-span bridge, the spatial finite element model considering each layer of the CST structure, connecting components, bridge, and subgrade is established and verified according to the theory of beam-rail interaction. The nonlinear resistance of materials between multilayer track structures is measured by experiments, while the temperature gradients of the bridge and CST are based on the long-term measured data. This study compares the force distribution rules of ballasted track and CST as respectively applied to a long span bridge. The effects of different damage conditions on CST structures are also discussed. The results show that the additional rail stress is small and the CST structure has a high safety factor under the measured temperature load. The rail expansion device can be cancelled when CST is adopted on the long span bridge. Beam end rotation caused by temperature gradient and vertical load will have a significant effect on the rail stress of CST. The additional flexure stress should be considered with the additional expansion stress simultaneously when the rail stress of CST requires to be checked. Both the maximum sliding friction coefficient of sliding layer and cracking condition of concrete plate should be considered to decide the arrangement of connecting components and the ultimate expansion span of the bridge when adopting CST.

Depending on the operating characteristics, track circuit is installed for the purpose of control directly or indirectly of the signal device, point switch machine and other security device. These are mainly used for train detection, transmission of information, broken train detection and transmission of return current. Especially, the return current is related to signal system, power system and catenary line, and track circuit systems. It is one of the most important component shall be dealt for the safety of track side staff and for the protection of railway-related electrical system according to electrification. Therefore, an accurate analysis of the return current is needed to prevent the return current unbalance and the system induced disorder and failure due to an over current condition. Also, if the malfunction occurred by the return current harmonics, it can cause problems including train operation interruption. In this paper, we presented measurement and analysis method at return current and it's harmonics by train operation. By the test criteria, we evaluated for safety. Hereafter, it is expected to contribute to the field associated with it.
It is essential to reduce track maintenance costs and to extend the periodic replacements of continuous welded rails based on accumulated passing tonnage. As recently train load decrease and rail joints wear down less, the periodic replacements of continuous welded rails can be extended. There are many kinds of rail damage like squat, head-check and corrugation. These can be taken nondestructive or naked eye test. So the periodic replacements of continuous welded rails based on accumulated passing tonnage were examine with focusing on a crack of rail bottom of continuous welded rail. Therefore, this study measure dynamic response of track by metro train load, it compute impact coefficient and track spring coefficient for estimating a condition of actual track system. Also, it is converted the measured stress waveform into stress frequency histogram by the rain-flow counting methods, and then the equivalence of stress is calculated. As apply s-n curve of a new welded rail, accumulated fatigue damage ratio of laid rail and remaining service lives is estimated. This study suggest a plan of the periodic replacements of continuous welded rails based on accumulated passing tonnage classified by the types of track system.
The purpose of a railway track is to provide a smooth surface for safe and economical train transportation. The performance of the track results from a complex interaction of the track and subgrade components in response to train loading and environmental actions. In the past, the role of subgrade as the track foundation were not recognized adequately. There are insufficient information and inadequate methods for subgrade design, assessment and improvement. This situation has survived for a long time largely because a subgrade defect can often be adjusted by adding more ballast under the ties or applying more frequent track maintenance. Therefore, the application of reinforced roadbed technology will be expected to increase in the future. The reinforced roadbed thickness is set depending on subgrade reaction modulus($K_{30}$) in the condition of upper subgrade through PBT in both conventional railroad and KTX railroads. As train velocity (V), train passing tonnage (N), and train axial load (P) are not considered in design, the roadbed thickness could be overestimated (or underestimated). Therefore, in this study has proposed a determination method of reinforced roadbed thickness using design chart made by resilience modulus and properties of earthwork materials.
In this paper, Analysis of parameters effecting on the derailment factor was conducted in oder to deduce technical requisites have to be reflected in design of Track and rolling-stocks because it is important to grasp the risk of derailment quantitatively. And then go far toward becoming practical study with that select two section of sharp curved track of actual train in service, incheon Metro Line 1 and make field research in condition of vehicles and track and analysis As a result of parameter study, the following conclusions were obtained. The radius of curve and Cant is in inverse proportion to the derailment factor, but as train operation velocity, standard deviation of alignment irregularity and the ratio lateral force : wheel load of the inside track increase, the derailment factor rise. In the investigation for the derailment safety of incheon Metro Line 1, the derailment factor was below 0.43 in both section R=200 and R=300, so that it proved safe compare with allowance limits 0.8, but it appeared that risk of the derailment in second transition curve is the highest among the entire curve.

In this study a new detection technique based on WAK is introduced that can be used for identifying unstable concrete sleeper installed in ballast by triggering activated wave on the sleeper surface. If a gap exists immediately below the concrete sleeper, static stiffness can be lower than stable case's stiffness. The concrete sleeper is assumed as a single degree of freedom system (SDOF). The static stiffness K can be obtained by iteratively calculated mass (m), stiffness (k) and damping coefficient (c) of SDOF system. Those coefficients are used to specify the ballast condition such as a gap between the sleeper and ballast. Typical test results using a small sleeper model test are summarized and explained for proof of effectiveness of the WAK test for checking unstable condition of the sleeper.
The experimental study has been performed to deposit to deposit chromia powder on magnssium alloy for tribological and mechanical properties. The optimal condition was obtained by changing the spray condition such as working distance and gun power. As ceramics was coated onto the a light metal such as Mg according to the weight reduection of the car engine block, it could acquire that the engine efficiency deu to the weight reduction and properties such as resistance to heat, as well as wear. Coating qualities are discussed with respect to hardness, tribologicalproperty, and microstructure. The tribological and mechanical properties are investigated by using the reciprocal configuration tribometer and microharduess tester. Wear mode is determined by observing the SEM morhpology of wear track and cross section view of wear track.
