Objectives: To compare and evaluate the degree of abrasion of the denture base resin according to the type of denture cleansers. Methods: Denture base resin specimens were prepared and dried. The resin specimens were installed in the automatic brushing machine so that the toothbrush weighed 200 g. The brushing was performed 1,000 times each, a total of 10,000 times using (1) distilled water (DW), (2) non-abrasive cleanser (NAC), and (3) toothpaste (TP), respectively. Thirty specimens were allocated for each group. The thickness of abrasion by brushing was calculated by converting the weight of the specimen. Results: In all DW, NAC, and TP groups, significant differences were found in the average amount of abrasion of the resin specimen due to 1,000 to 10,000 brushings (p<0.001). The average abrasion amount of the resin specimen due to brushing 10,000 times was 2.31±1.20 ㎛ in DW group, 2.52±0.25 ㎛ in NAC group, 6.50±0.60 ㎛ in TP group, and the amount of abrasion in the TP group was statistically significant compared to other groups (p<0.001). Conclusions: The use of TP is not recommended as a method for maintaining the longevity of dentures and for oral health, and NAC was considered to be possible to be used as a denture cleanser because it had a similar amount of abrasion of that of DW.
Most of the lakes in Korea are artificial, and their limnological characteristics are significantly different from those of natural lakes in other countries. In this study, the relationship between trophic state parameters was investigated, based on summer average data of the upper layer, in 81 lakes in Korea, 2013-2017. Compared with trends of foreign natural lakes, chlorophyll a (Chl.a) concentration was slightly lower at the same total phosphorus (TP) concentration, and transparency (Secchi depth, SD) was noticeably lower at the same Chl.a concentration. This is because of excessive allochthonous loading of non-algal material during the monsoon period, and the reduction in phosphorus availability to algal growth, by light limitation and short hydraulic residence time. Considering these characteristics, we suggested site-specific thresholds of trophic state classification for Chl.a, TP and SD, based on annual average data at the upper layer of lakes ($3-10{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ of Chl.a measured by UNESCO method; $13-33{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ of TP; 1.6-3.2 m of SD for mesotrophic state class, respectively). The threshold value of TP for each trophic state class, corresponded to the upper value of previously reported range, and that of SD was out of the range. We suggested applying only TP and Chl.a in assessment of trophic state of lakes in Korea, excluding SD.
This study used a mesocosm which presumes movement of the nutrient (especially $PO_{4^-}P$) in the wetland. After setting up the mesocosm inside the wetland and adding the $PO_{4^-}P$, observed the movement of the $PO_{4^-}P$ every hour. We analyzed the variables which had the possibility of affecting $PO_{4^-}P$ concentration in the wetland-flora, absorbing rate of algae, settling rate, release rate. Immediately after adding $PO_{4^-}P$, the concentration of the TP in water column at each mesocosm was 0.48, 12.4, 20.4, $23.6\;mg\;L^{-1}$, after 21 days they were 0.6, 1.92, 6.97 and $6.94\;mg\;L^{-1}$ respectively. The concentration of the TP in water column at the mesocosm decreased on average 73.7%. The concentration of the $PO_{4^-}P$ inside reed, algae and sediment in the mesocosm was increased from $0.73mg\;gDW^{-1}$, $3.81mg\;gDW^{-1}$, $466.1mg\;kg^{-1}$ to $0.83mg\;gDW^{-1}$, $4.57mg\;gDW^{-1}$ and $813.3mg\;kg^{-1}$ respectively. Algae is more sensitive than reeds in absorption of the nutrient. TP removal by settling was highest. Budgeting of TP indicated that P moved from particulates in the water column to sediment and algae. Immediately after adding $PO_{4^-}P$, water column (24.2%) and sediment (49.0%) dominated TP storage, with algae (10.3%) and reed (16.4%) holding smaller proportions of TP. After 21 days, Sediment (59.0%) and algae (17.9%) dominated TP storage, with water column (7.1%) and reed (15.8%) holding smaller proportions of TP. Estimation of phosphate movement using mesocosms is an appropriate method because wetlands have many controlling factors. Analysed data can be compared to background data for wetland construction and management.

Intercalation compounds of organic anions into layered double hydroxides (LDH) are synthesized by the coprecipitation route. X-ray diffraction data reveal that the intercalated terephthalate (TP), naphthalene-2,6-disulfonate (NA26), and anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonate (AQ26) are arranged with their molecular planes perpendicular to the hydroxide layer. HPLC data show that 26.2% of TP and 73.8% of AQ26 are cointercalated, whereas NA26 is not intercalated into the Zn/Al-LDH. These results indicate the possibility of a molecular recognition ability of Zn/Al-LDH. The molecular recognition ability of intercalation into Zn/Al-LDH is in the order AQ26 > TP >> NA26.
Two-dimensional packing algorithm can be used for allocating submeshes in mesh multiprocessor systems. Previously, we developed an efficient packing algorithm called TP heuristic, and showed how the results of the packing could be used for allocating submeshes. In this paper, we present theoretical performance bounds for TP heuristic. We also present a parallel version of the algorithm that consumes reduced time when it is executed by multiple processors in mesh multiprocessors.
