  • The cynomolgus monkey(Macaca fascicularis) is used widely in efficacy and safety assessment of new drugs. The ranges of physiological variables are important end points in the toxicological study. Both the basic physiological variables such as body weight, body temperature, blood pressure, urine pH and blood variables such as biochemical and hematological variables were determined in nineteen male and sixteen female monkey prior to treatment.(omitted)

  • In order to evaluate the neutral red uptake assay as an alternative method for phototoxicity test, we compared the potential of phototoxicity in vitro in cultured human fibroblasts and 3T3 fibroblast cells derived from Balb/c mice. Both fibroblasts were exposed to various known phototoxic chemicals (promethazine, neutral red, chlorpromazine, chlortetracycline, amiodarone, bithionol, 8-methoxypsoralen) and non-phototoxic chemical (ammonium laureth sulfate) and irradiated with 5 J/cm$^2$ of UVA.(omitted)

  • Occurrence of Chinese Herbs Nephropathy (CHN) has been reported in young women who had taken a slimming pills containing some chinese herbs. Aristolochic acid (AA) known as a carcinogen, was suspected as the major causal factor of CHN. AA is major component of fruit of A. contorta was used in Korean Traditional Medicine.(omitted)

  • The primary routes of drug administration include oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous and intravenous dosing for toxicological risk assessment purpose in dog. There has been an increase applying transdermal patches as an alternate method for systemic delivery. The present study was performed to establish the transdermal delivery method of medicated ointment, liquid and powder material to beagle dog.(omitted)
