  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of tourism councils on the activation of rural tourism by comparing the rural tourism sites with the tourism councils and the rural tourism sites without tourism councils. The comparative indicators were divided into statistical quantitative indicators such as number of tourists, sales volume, and income level, and qualitative indicators of satisfaction, return visit, and word of mouth intentions. As a result of the study, it was found that all the items of the quantitative and qualitative indicators were active in the rural tourism area where the tourism council was composed. This can be attributed to the fact that the members of the tourism council consist of administrative agencies, experts, tourism operators, experts, etc., and constantly develop strategic programs such as diverse opinions and unique constellations. Therefore, in order to revitalize rural tourism in the future, it can be said that the tourism council should be constructed, and institutional devices should be prepared so that experts and residents in each field can participate equally.

  • The cruise industry is a future-oriented convergence industry based on tourism and shipping, and has attracted great attention not only in the global market but also in Korea. The rapid growth of Asian cruise population, especially in China, has had a considerable impact on both the global market as well as the Korean market. With the recent THAAD problem, the need for diversification of the market has been raised as the entry of cruise tourists from China has been greatly reduced. It is also time for a more systematic and comprehensive development strategy ahead of the opening of the new cruise terminal. This study draws out the problems based on the interviews with experts such as prefectures, travel agencies, and related organizations, as well as analyzing literature on domestic and overseas government plans, policy reports, and research data. Then, the SWOT analysis is used to develop the development strategy and explore the policy support direction. The research scope can be extended to sustainable development model through wider linkage of mid to long term strategy and policy.

  • The tourism industry has a great influence on national economy activation. The development of IT technology has enabled the collection and analysis of personal profile information, location information and activity information based on the characteristics, behavior, purchase propensity and interest of tourists. In order to realize this, the implementation of convergence smart tourism information service platform is completed by developing business model, IoT & Big Data integration management system, big data algorithm development and analysis platform in three stages. The underlying technology of the platform and algorithm needs a process of adopting open source, expanding the service element on the basis of it, and then complementing the problem through the test-bed demonstration test that connects the area. Using this platform, it is possible to develop a smart tourism environment that can provide customized services for each tourist by analyzing various information in an integrated manner. Also, it will be possible to improve the life of tourist destination residents and contribute to regional revitalization and job creation through the creation of smart tourism ecosystem focused on the region.

  • In this study, we collected data through online travel notes from January to December 2018 and analyzed the seasonal travel characteristics of individual visiting Chinese by utilizing social network analysis. The analysis showed that Seoul is a hub for Chinese travel to Korea and the main destinations for individual visiting Chinese are concentrated in Seoul, Busan, Jeju Island, Gyeongju and Gangneung, with wide differences in seasons. The research results can be used as basic data for the development of tourism courses for individual Chinese tourists to Korea, provision of tourism services and optimization of tourism facility layout. Future research can consider continuing to use network travel notes to study the tourist destination and the mode of transportation between tourist nodes, which can provide reference for the development of tourist market and the planning and design of tourist traffic.

  • Concomitant with development of AR(Augmented Reality) and VR(Virtual Reality), interest in location based games and augmented reality have increased and various services have been developed. Due to this, AR, VR, MR(Merged Reality) techniques are considered one of fourth industrial revolution techniques. Oculus Rift which is representative of VR technology, and HTC VIVE need separate controllers, and don't offer service such as receiving external video information when users are using devices. In the case of project Alloy, which is a MR device of Intel, this has advantages such as controlling devices through hand signals and facial expressions, and receiving external video information. In this paper, we propose tourist guide system based on current position using MR. This system makes economical tour possible by arranging tourist attraction information which is from current position of tourists in correct places through external video information using MR, location determination using GPS, tourism information search using wireless internet.

  • In smart cities around the world, urban environments have become more convenient due to information and communication technology(ICT). However, extant studies reveal that the level of life satisfaction of citizens has not improved compared to that of the pre-smart city and citizens are skeptical about the role of the smart city. This is largely because local culture and needs were neglected during the planing and development of the smart city. The research was conducted on Cambodia as a pilot site and our findings indicate that middle age group's population is significantly small and the society is at risk of losing its culture. Therefore, this paper opens up various ways of embedding cultural programs using technology in order to pass down cultural heritage to young generation, provide an emotional attachment to the inhabitants and further build up a new phase of cultural legacy. This will engender cultural uniqueness to the city and intrigue tourists around the world resulting in the growth of the tourist industry. This research will contribute locally by providing a sense of community to the public and globally by suggesting applicable methodology to other cities that are under the similar context.
