공공하수처리시설에서 에너지 사용현황 및 절감방안 연구 (A Study on Energy Usage Monitoring and Saving Method in the Sewage Treatment Plant)

  • This study aims to conserve and monitor energy use in public sewage treatment plants by utilizing data from the SCADA system and by controlling the aeration rate required for maintaining effluent water quality. Power consumption in the sewage treatment process was predicted using the equipment's uptime, efficiency, and inherent power consumption. The predicted energy consumption was calibrated by measured data. Additionally, energy efficiency indicators were proposed based on statistical data for energy use, capacity, and effluent quality. In one case study, a sewage treatment plant operated via the SBR process used ~30% of energy consumed in maintaining the bioreactors and treated water tanks (included decanting pump and cleaning systems). Energy consumption analysis with the K-ECO Tool-kit was conducted for unit processing. The results showed that about 58.7% of total energy consumed was used in the preliminary and biological treatment rotating equipment such as the blower and pump. In addition, the energy consumption rate was higher to the order of 19.2% in the phosphorus removal process, 16.0% during sludge treatment, and 6.1% during disinfection and discharge. In terms of equipment energy usage, feeding and decanting pumps accounted for 40% of total energy consumed following 27% for blowers. By controlling the aeration rate based on the proposed feedback control system, the DO concentration was reduced by 56% compared pre-controls and the aeration amount decreased by 28%. The overall power consumption of the plant was reduced by 6% via aeration control.

  • Residual gas acts as a diluent which results in reducing the in-cylinder temperature as well as the flame speed, significantly affecting fuel economy, NOx emissions and combustion stability. Therefore it is important to determine the residual gas fraction as a function of the engine operating parameters accurately. However, the determination of the residual gas fraction is very sophisticated due to the unsteady state of induction and exhaust process. There has been little work toward the development of a generally applicable model for quantitative predictions of residual gas fraction. In this paper, a simple model for calculating the residual gas fraction in SI engines was suggested. The amount of fresh air was evaluated through AFR and fuel consumption. After this, from the intake temperature and pressure, the amount of total cylinder-charging gas was estimated. The residual gas fraction was derived by comparing the total charging and fresh air. This results coincide with measured EGR value very well.

  • I. Subject of the Study: Studies on the economical nutrition supplement of cereal foods for the improvement in our notional eating habits. II. Purpose and Importance of the Study: 1. Our nation is confronted with the situation that the rice, a principal food, short of some essential amino acids, lysine and threonine, leads to imbalanced meals insufficient in the nutrient of protein, to bring many difficulties in the elevation of our national physique. 2. The shortage of even the rice imperfect in the nutrient of protein makes the import of lots of foreign rice inevitable. It is considered that the protein supplement and decrease in the consumption amount, of rice, is a serious key to the solution of our food difficulty, and then a way of the proetin supplement of rice through the addition of essential amino acid is to be rarely applied in the view of the our present finance and situation. 3. In the present experiment, therefore, it aims to the suggestion of an aspect of the improvement in our national eating habits guiding in the nutrition elevation which our nation can afford economically through the development of first, a way of the protein supplement by the mixture of cereals producted plentifully in our country, and second, a way of the decrease in the consumption amount and the improvement in the nutrition of rice through the substitution of the other cereals for rice. III. Contents of Scope of the Study: 1. Objects of the study: Objects of the study are the following three items; a) The nutrition supplement of rice through the mixture of cereals. Our nation makes mainly rice as a principal food, but practically many kinds of cereal are produced in our country. They contain different levels and qualities of each nutrient and they are different from one another in the kinds of essential amino acid consisting protein. For that reason, the mutual complement efficeincy of insufficient nutrients is observed through the mixture of cereals. b) The nutrition supplement of rice through the addition of superior protein sources to rice, a principal food. The development of rice as superior foods in the sense of nutrition is conducted through the risement in protein quality by the addition of protein sources in good quality, for example, fish flour (anchovy flour), egg powder, milk powder, and so on, and through the supplement of vitamins and minerals. c) The decrease in the consumption amount of rice through the substitution of the other cereals for rice, as a principal food. The compensation for the short amount of rice is made by the reduction in the consumption of rice through the discovery of a way of substitution of the other cereals for rice, as a principal food and of the settlement of problems in nutrition and finance subsequent to this. 2. Contents of the study: a) An ideal mixture-ratio of cereals is established for rats by feeding mixed foods(rice-barely or rice-wheat) containing 5%, 15%, 25%, 35% and 45% level of either barely or wheat. b) The nutritive value is determined in the whole subsititution of other foods for rice, and then, a way of the complement of over and under nutrients is devised. c) The ideal combination is investigated for rats through feeding mixed foods of main food, rice and supplement foods of protein sources, soy bean, fish flour, egg powder and milk Powder. d) According to results from the above three experiments, the concise functional test for men and the examination of economical property are made. 3. Scope of the study: a) The observation of the effect of each diet on the growth rate for rats. The growth rate of rats was observed for 15 groups of mixed foods of a main food, rice, and wheat flour, barley powder or soy bean powder, respectively, and 12 groups of wheat flour diets supplemented with $1{\sim}3%$ milk powder, and rice or wheat flour diets supplemented with 5% of milk powder, egg powder, fish flour or soy bean powder, respectively. b) The determination of food consumption. The food consumption was determined at weekly intervals for 27 kinds of diet described in a) item. c) The determination of food efficiency rate. The food efficiency rate for each diet was determined by calculation from the gained body weight and the food consumption amount at the same intervals described in b) item. d) The determination of protein efficiency rate. The protein efficiency rate for each diet was determined by calculation form gained body weight and the protein amount of the food consumption amount at the same intervals described c) item. e) The determination of the body component. The hematocrite and hemoglobin levels in the blood, total nitrogen in the serum, blood sugar, and lipids and glycogen in the liver were determined. f) The observation of nitrogen balance. As a means of the observation of nitrogen balance, the total nitrogen in the urine was determined. g) The analysis of economical property. The economical property was analyzed as the gained body weight to the amount equivalent to one won through the conversion of the food consumption amount into money. h) The functional test for men. The concise functional test for men was made in order to establish if the best diet for experimental animals can be applied to men. IV. Results of the Study: The national food product plan, nationwide nutritive enlightment and the improvement activities in our country eating habits, especially, mixed and powder food problems are to be significantly referred, and the following results must be applied. a) In the mixed foods of cereals, the mixed food of the rice-barley containing $5{\sim}15%$ level of barley is best in terms of nutrition. b) The addition of superior protein sources, egg, Bilk, soy bean, or fish, respectively to either rice or wheat flour makes a great risement in the nutritive value. c) The animal protein is more effective in the elevation of nutritive value of cereals. d) Rice takes the most nutritive operation and has the highest preference, among rice, wheat flour and barley. e) Wheat flour is more economical than rice in evaluation of the gained body weight to the regular money, and the addition of fish or soy bean is more economical than that of any other supplement food. But the above results are true of the range of nutrition and economical property. f) The study on the nutrition composition and barley will lead to the improvement in our national eating habits as mixed food of the rice-barley containing $5{\sim}15%$ level of barley is more nutritive. g) This study on the nutrition only for the growing animal can not be considered as a perfect and entire evaluation. Consequently, the perfect data for our national nutrition can be obtained from the experiment similar to this for the much longer period examining, in details, the growth rate, change of physical strength, mental and bodily change, average life span, and resistance ability to infectious diseases.

METHYLMERCURY EXPOSURE IN CURRENT JAPANESE: ESTIMATION FROM HAIR ANALYSIS

  • Methylmercury (MeHg) is an environmental pollutant with neurotoxic effects on the central nervous system. The major exposure route of MeHg to humans is via consumption of fish and shellfish which accumulate the chemical through the food web in an aquatic environment. Hair mercury level is an excellent marker for MeHg exposure. We have been conducting a survey on hair mercury contents among general populations from 14 districts to estimate the current Japanese MeHg exposure level. Total mercury levels of all hair samples collected (12923 in total) were analyzed by the oxygen combustion-gold amalgamation method using an atomic absorption mercury detector. Multiple regression analysis revealed that mercury levels were significantly correlated with several covariates, such as sex, age, the amount of daily intake of total fish/shellfish, a preference for certain fish such as tuna or bonito, and artificial waving. The geometric means for the population without artificial waving were 2.47 and 1.65 ${\mu}g/g$ for males (n = 5623) and females (n = 3470), respectively. Hair mercury levels varied with age, and the variations were more significant in males. Since the difference between sexes was not evident at younger ages, some hormonal control might also be involved in the mercury uptake by human hair. The average mercury levels in our hair samples varied among the sampling districts. Tuna is a major carnivorous fish with high mercury accumulations that is often consumed in Japan. The amount of fish consumption and the preference rate far tuna would appear to be responsible far the regional variation in hair mercury levels in Japan. Recently, a provisional tolerable weekly intake (PTWI) of MeHg was revised by 61st JECFA to 1.6 ${\mu}g/kg/week$, which was about half that of the Japanese standard, and corresponded to a hair level of 2.2 ppm. The distribution of hair mercury levels in Japanese populations in the present study indicated that 25% of the Japanese females of child-bearing age were estimated to be exposed to MeHg over the PTWI level. This would reflect the high Japanese consumption of marine products. However, not only mercury contamination, but also the nutritional benefit may have to be considered when discussing the risk involved in the current level of fish and shellfish consumption in Japan.

Ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block for pain management after gastrectomy: a randomized, single-blinded, controlled trial

  • Background: Open gastrectomy causes severe postoperative pain. Therefore, we investigated the opioid-sparing effect of the ultrasound-guided bilateral erector spinae plane block (ESPB) after open gastrectomy. Methods: Adult patients undergoing open gastrectomy were randomly assigned to either the ESPB group (ESPB + fentanyl based intravenous patient-controlled analgesia [IV-PCA]) or a control group (fentanyl based IV-PCA only). The primary outcome was total fentanyl equivalent consumption during the first 24 hour postoperatively. Secondary outcomes were pain intensities using a numeric rating scale at the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) and at 3, 6, 12, and 24 hour postoperatively, and the amount of fentanyl equivalent consumption during the PACU stay and at 3, 6, and 12 hour postoperatively, and the time to the first request for rescue analgesia. Results: Fifty-eight patients were included in the analysis. There was no significant difference in total fentanyl equivalent consumption during the first 24 hour postoperatively between the two groups (P = 0.471). Pain intensities were not significantly different between the groups except during the PACU stay and 3 hour postoperatively (P < 0.001, for both). Time to the first rescue analgesia in the ward was longer in the ESPB group than the control group (P = 0.045). Conclusions: Ultrasound-guided ESPB did not decrease total fentanyl equivalent consumption during the first 24 hour after open gastrectomy. It only reduced postoperative pain intensity until 3 hour postoperatively compared with the control group. Ultrasound-guided single-shot ESPB cannot provide an efficient opioid-sparing effect after open gastrectomy.

여수산업단지의 생태효율성지표 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Eco-Efficiency Indicators for Yeosu Industrial Park)

  • 본 논문은 생태효율성 지표 작성을 통하여 여수산업단지(여수산단) 지표를 개발하였다. 여수산단 매출의 경우 원화의 가치와 원부원료의 수출입 원가 변동 폭이 큰 관계로 제품의 가치(기능)에서 제외하고 대신 총 생산액, 에틸렌 생산량, 경질유 생산량으로 제품의 기능 부문을 구성하고, 환경부하로서는 현재 공식적으로 입수 가능한 자료인 전력 소모량, 용수 사용량 및 폐수 배출량을 사용하였다. 2004년을 기준으로 할 때 2006년의 환경경제효율 지수를 계산한 결과 0.954로 지수가 나빠졌으나, 여수산단의 생태산업단지사업이 성공할 경우 2015년에는 지수가 1.153으로 약 15% 정도 개선될 것으로 예측되었다.

Water Footprint 개념을 이용한 가전제품의 수자원 사용량 산정 (세탁기를 중심으로) (A Study on the Evaluation of Water Consumption in Electric Appliances using Water Footprint - Focusing on Washing Machine -)

  • In this study, by using the Water footprint technique, the water consumption by washing machines, which holds higher ranks in using water than any other electric appliances, was analyzed during their life cycle. The life cycle is defined as raw materials production step, manufacturing step, and using step. In raw materials production step, Input materials were researched by using LCI DB(Life Cycle Inventory Database) and the water consumption was calculated with consideration of approximately 65% Input materials which were based weight. In manufacturing step, the water consumption was calculated by the amount of energy used in assembly factories and components subcontractors and emission factor of energy. In using step, referring to guidelines on carbon footprint labeling, the life cycle is applied as 5 years for a washing machine and 218 cycles for annual bounds of usage. The water and power consumption for operating was calculated by referring to posted materials on the manufacture's websites. The water consumption by nation unit was calculated with the result of water consumption by a unit of washing machine. As a result, it shows that water consumption per life cycle s 110,105 kg/unit. The water consumption of each step is 90,495 kg/unit for using, 18,603 kg for raw materials production and 1,006 kg/unit for manufacturing, which apparently shows that the using step consume the most water resource. The water consumption by nation unit is 371,269,584tons in total based on 2006, 83,385,649 tons in both steps of raw material production and manufacturing, and 287,883,935 tons in using step.

수중음향 센서 네트워크에서 효율적인 저전력 군집화 기법 (An Energy-Efficient Clustering Scheme in Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 수중음향 센서 네트워크에서 자기 조직화 기법을 활용하는 에너지 효율적 클러스터링 기법을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 클러스터 헤드 선출에 각 노드의 배터리 잔여량 정보와 이웃 노드의 수를 고려하며, 클러스터 헤드의 배터리 잔여량이 특정 수준 이하로 떨어졌을 경우에만 클러스터 재구성을 수행함으로써 노드의 에너지 소모를 줄이고 네트워크 전체에 에너지 소모를 분산시켜 네트워크의 수명을 연장시킬 수 있다. 또한, 클러스터 헤드는 클러스터 멤버 노드로부터 수집한 데이터를 다중 홉 중계 방식으로 싱크 노드에 전송하여 에너지 소모를 줄인다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해, 일정 시간 경과 후 전체 노드의 배터리 잔여량의 합, 생존 노드의 수, 네트워크 구성 단계에서의 에너지 소모량, 전체 노드의 에너지 소모 편차 등을 구하고 대표적 클러스터링 기법 중의 하나인 LEACH 기법과 비교 및 분석한다. 모의실험 결과, 제안 기법이 LEACH 기법에 비해 네트워크 운용 시간을 두 배 향상시킬 수 있으며, 전체 노드의 에너지 소모 편차 또한 감소시킴을 알 수 있다.

실별 전력 소비패턴에 의거한 온실가스 감축 잠재량 산정 - 서울대학교 관악 캠퍼스를 대상으로 - (A Case Study of GHG Reduction Based on Electricity Consumption Pattern of Individual Rooms : In case of Seoul National University)

  • 온실가스 에너지 목표관리제가 시행됨에 따라, 해당 사업장은 2020년까지 온실가스 배출 전망치 대비 30% 이상을 의무적으로 감축해야 한다. 에너지소비의 큰 비중을 차지하는 대학교 부문 역시 온실가스 감축이 요구됨에도 불구하고, 교육기관의 특성 상 에너지 절감에 투자할 수 있는 예산은 한정적이므로 고가의 대응책 적용에는 한계가 따른다. 따라서 본 연구는 서울대학교 관악캠퍼스를 대상으로 실 레벨에서 쉽게 적용 가능한 저가의 에너지감축 방안을 도출하고, 이를 통한 최대감축잠재량을 산정하는 사례연구를 목적으로 한다. 먼저, 관악캠퍼스 내 표본이 될 11개 용도의 실을 뽑아 1월 1일부터 7월 31일까지 에너지소비량을 매일 실측하였고, 실별 전력기기 계수 조사를 통해 실용도별 표준모형을 구축하였으며, 사용자 인터뷰와 설문 및 행정조사를 통해 전력소비패턴을 분석함으로써 실용도 표준모형 기반의 기기별 소비전력량을 산출하였다. 이를 기반으로, 32개의 감축기술 및 실천프로그램을 도출하여 실용도 표준모형에 적용하고 각 프로그램별 최대감축비율을 기기별 소비전력량에 곱해 기기별 최대감축량을 유도함으로써, 실별 월별 최대감축량과 관악캠퍼스 최대감축잠재량을 산정하였다. 그 결과, 본 연구가 제안한 감축기술 및 실천프로그램의 적용 시 1월부터 7월까지 약 $5,311tCO_2$-eq 즉 동일기간 관악캠퍼스 전체 에너지 사용량의 12.66%에 해당되는 양을 감축할 수 있으며, 2016년까지 서울대학교 필요감축량의 24.48%를 감축할 수 있는 것으로 조사되었다.

  • 상황인지 어플리케이션은 다양한 센서를 이용하여 상황을 추론하므로 전력 소비가 크고 이에 대한 상세한 평가 결과를 제공하는 연구는 미비하였다. 또한 기존의 전력 소비에 대한 정보는 사용자의 사용 패턴을 고려하지 못하고 전체적인 소비량만을 제공하거나, 센서가 사용하는 전력에 대한 정보를 구분하여 제공하지 못하였다. 그렇기 때문에 개발자들이 전력 소비를 고려하여 어플리케이션을 개발하는 데 유의미한 정보가 제공되지 않았다는 문제점이 있다. 개발자들에게 상황인지 어플리케이션이 사용하는 모바일 디바이스의 컴포넌트가 소비하는 전력에 대한 상세한 평가 정보가 제공된다면, 전력 소비를 고려하여 상황인지 어플리케이션의 개발이 가능해 질 것이다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 사용 패턴을 고려하여 상황인지 어플리케이션의 작동 시 사용되는 다양한 컴포넌트가 소비하는 전력을 평가할 수 있는 BMT(Bench Mark Test) 모델을 제안하고, 이를 통한 상세한 평가 결과를 개발자들에게 제공하고자 한다.
