It is requested to shorten the starting duration for idle stop function equipped cars without harmful effects on the environment. Higher cranking speeds can be achieved with high torque starter. The object of this study is to develope the high torque starter and evaluate its effect on the exhaust emissions. The test was conducted on a 1.5 L, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, multipoint-port-fuel-injection gasoline engine. Engine out emissions such as HC, CO, $CO_2$, and the excess air ratios, lambda were measured using MEXA-554JK. The result showed that a high torque starter, HTS-II shortened the starting duration and reduced engine out emissions of HC, CO and improved starting performance with larger excess air ratio than that of the original starter, Org. S and a high torque starter, HTS-I.
This paper proposes an algorithm to estimate the screw torque from parameters of induction motor and current of DC motor without strain gage and torque cell. The parameters of friction torque search for damping ratio and electromotive force constant use the motor torque and angula speed signals be generated in the induction motor, make use of oscilloscope and stroboscope for precise measured of experimental data, measured physical parameters through experimental. In addition the screw torque estimated use of measured current signals from induction moor. The results, theory and simulation recognized well coincidence.
This paper presents an implementation of direct torque control(DTC) of Reluctance Synchronous Motor(RSM) with an efficiency optimization using the 32bit DSP TMS320C31. The influence of iron loss can not neglected as high speed and precision torque control of RSM, so the optimal current ration between torque current and exiting current analytically derived to drive RSM at maximum efficiency For RSM, torque dynamics can be maintained even with controlling the flux level because the generated torque is direct]y proportional to the stator current. The experimental results for an RSM are presented to validate the applicability of the proposed method. The developed control system is shown high efficiency features with 1.0Kw RSM having 2.57 ratio of d/q reluctance.
General vehicle is evaluated by its acceleration, fuel economy, NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) and subjective (Launching feel) performance. The first step to enhance its performance is to know how much each component affects on the vehicle performance. It is very important to know what is the key factor of the component among many specifications. Hydraulic torque converter can be expressed by means of its performance curve (torque ratio and capacity factor). In this paper, the key factor of torque converter, which affect vehicle performance, are explored by using Taguchi method.
Switched reluctance motors have the advantage a high torque/weight ratio, as the large reluctance torque is made by salient poles of both stator and rotor, and a high reliability. On the other hand, the switched reluctance motors have the disadvantage of a large ripple torque which is made by salient poles. So the application for the industrial fields have been limited to special cases. This paper describes the design of a 12/8 switched reluctance motor using a enemy layer method of the asymmetry rotor. The design is focussed to reduce the torque ripple and radial force in the demanded value. The three dimension finite element analysis method(3D-FEM) was used for decides a enemy layer angle of the asymmetry rotor. This paper presents modifications of the rotor pole shape which reduces the torque ripple.

Underwater torpedo has control fin with very low aspect ratio due to launching from limited size of cylindrical torpedo tube. If the aspect ratio of control fin of underwater vehicle is very low three-dimensional flow around control fin largely reduces control forces. In this study, the end plate was applied to reduce the three-dimensional flow effects of partially movable control fin of underwater vehicle. Through numerical simulations the flow field around control fin was examined with and without end plate for different flap angles. The pressure, vorticity, lift and torque on the control fin were analyzed and compared to experiments. The comparison have shown a reasonable agreement between numerical and experimental results and the effect of end plate on a low aspect ratio control fin. When the end plate was attached to the movable control fin, the lift increased and the actuator shaft torque did not significantly change. As this means less consumption of the actuator shaft torque compared to the control fin that has the same control force, the inner actuator capacity can be reduced and energy consumption can be saved. Considering this, it is expected to be effectively applied to the control fin design of underwater vehicles such as torpedoes.
Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is receiving increased attention for servo drive applications in recent years because of its high torque to inertia ratio, superior power density and high efficiency. Vector-controlled PMSM has the same operating characteristics as separately excited dc motor. The drive system of servo motor is requested to have an accurate response for the speed reference and a quick recovery for the disturbance such as load torque. However the dynamics of PMSM drive change greately by parameter variations. Morever, when the unkown and inaccessible disturbances are imposed on PMSM, the drive system is given a significant effect by them. As a result, the drive system with both a fast drive performance and a reduced sensitivity to parameter variations is requested. In this paper, the robust control system of PMSM with torque feedforward using load torque observer is presented. In the proposed system, load torque is estimated by the reduced order observer, and the robust control system against load torque variation is realized using the torque feedforward. Moreover, the design of speed controller with the torque observer is discussed. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective for suppression of parameter variations and load disturbance.

This study is to consider that the helical intake port flow and fuel injection system have effects on the characteristics of engine performance and emissions in a turbocharged DI diesel engine of the displacement 9.4L. The swirl ratio for ports was modified by hand-working and measured by impulse torque swirl meter, For the effects on performance and emission, the brake torque, BSFC were measured by engine dynamometer and NOx, smoke were by gas analyzer and smoke meter. As a result of steady flow test, when the valve eccentricity ratio are closed to cylinder wall, the flow coefficient and swirl intensity are increased, And as the swirl is increased, the mean flow coefficient is decreasing, whereas the gulf factor is increasing. Also, through engine test its can be expected to meet performance and emission by the following applied parameter; the swirl ratio is 2.43, injection timing is BTDC $13^{\circ}$CA and compression is 15.5.
Isokinetic exercise is dynamic, but the spped of movement must be regulated so that the resistance is in ratio to the force applied at each point throughout the full range of motion. The purpose of this study is to comparise with trunk flexors & extensors of isokinetic evaluation of pre-exercise and post-exercise in operated laminectomy & disectomy patients. 7 subjects were examined at $120^{\circ}$/sec and $60^{\circ}$/sec each 15 days. The results were as follows; 1. Peak torque of extensors on $60^{\circ}$/sec showed significant difference statistically(p<0.05), but peak torque of flexors on $60^{\circ}$/sec showed no significant difference statistically. 2. Trunk flexors/extensors ratio of peak torque of $60^{\circ}$/sec showed no significant difference ststistically. 3. Peak torque % B.W of extensors on $60^{\circ}$/sec showed significant difference statistically(p<0.05), but peak torque % B.W of flexors on $60^{\circ}$/sec showed no significant difference statistically. 4. TAE of extensors on $60^{\circ}$/sec showed significant difference statistically (p<0.05), but TAE of flexors on $60^{\circ}$/sec showed no significant difference. 5. The purpose of this study was to design a powertrain for a 78 kW AWD (all wheel drive) electric tractor by analyzing the combination of various reduction gear ratios on a commercial motor using data from actual agricultural work and driving conditions. A load measurement system was constructed to collect data using wheel torque meters, proximity sensors, and a data acquisition system. Field experiments for measuring load data were performed for two environmental driving conditions (on asphalt and soil) and four agricultural operations (plow tillage, rotary tillage, loader operation, and baler operation). The attached implements and gear stages were selected through farmer surveys. The range of the reduction ratio was determined by selecting the minimum reduction ratio needed to satisfy the torque condition required for agricultural operations and the maximum reduction gear ratio to satisfy the maximum travel speed. The minimum reduction gear ratio selected was 57 in consideration of the working load condition and the maximum reduction gear ratio selected was 62 considering the maximum running speed. In the range of the reduction gear ratio 57 - 62, the selected motor satisfied all working torque conditions. As a result, the combination of the selected motor and reduction gear ratio was applicable for satisfying the loads required during agricultural operation and driving operation.
