In this paper, a method of designing the pitch control algorithm for the wind turbine generator system (WTGS) and results of nonlinear simulation are presented. For this, the WTGS is treated as a multibody system and the blade element and momentum theory are adopted to model the aerodynamic force and torque acting the rotor blades. For the purpose of controller design, the WTGS is approximated to 1 DOF system using the fact that the WTGS is eventually a constrained multibody system. Then a classical PID controller is designed and used to regulate the rotational speed of the generator. FORTRAN based nonlinear simulation program is written and used to evaluate the performance of the proposed controller at the various wind scenario and operational modes.

This paper proposes a variable speed control scheme of grid-connected wind power generation systems using cage-type induction generators. The induction generator is operated in indirect vector control mode, where the d-axis current controls the excitation level and the q-axis current controls the generator torque, by which the speed of the induction generator is controlled according to the variation of the wind speed In order to produce the maximum output power. The generated power flows into the utility grid through the back-to-back PWM converter. The line-side converter controls the dc link voltage by the q-axis current control and can control the line-side power factor by the d-axis current control. Experimental results are shown to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.
For the problem that the complexity of 3-D modeling and multi parameter optimization, as well as the uncertainty of the winding factor of axial flux permanent magnet generator with coreless windings. The complex 3-D model was simplified into 2-D analytic model, and an analytical formula for the winding factor that adapting different coreless stator winding is proposed in this paper. The analytical solution for air-gap magnetic fields, no-load back EMF, electromagnetic torque, and efficiency are calculated by using this method. The multiple objective and multivariable optimization of the maximum fundamental and the minimum harmonic content of back EMF are performed by using response surface methodology. The proposed optimum design method was applied to make a generator. The generator was tested and the calculated results are compared with the proposed method, which show good agreements.
High-speed shaft coupling in a wind power system transmits power and absorbs variations in length and spindle dislocation between the gearbox and generator. Furthermore, the coupling has an insulation function that prevents electrical corrosion caused by the flow of the generator's current into the gearbox and prevents overload resulting from sudden power failure from being transferred to the gearbox. Its design, functions, and part verification are described in the IEC61400 and GL Guidelines, which specify that the part must have a durability life of 20 years or longer under distance variation and axial misalignment between the gearbox and the generator. This study presents the design of a high-speed coupling through composite stiffness calculation, structural analysis, and comparative analysis of test and theory to identify the characteristics of high-speed coupling for a large-capacity 6 MW wind power generator. A prototype was fabricated by optimizing the manufacturing process for each part based on the design, and the reliability of the fabricated prototype was verified by evaluating the performance of the target quantitative evaluation items.

10kW wind turbine is widely studied in the field of renewable energy for the merits of easy installation to the confined area such as hill, park and urban areas. The performance of various electrical devices such as converter and inverter in the wind turbine system should be systematically analyzed for various wind speeds. However, it is impossible to apply these devices directly to practical wind turbine system for the safety of wind turbine system. Therefore, it is required to develop torque simulator which can generate corresponding torque according to its wind speed. In this work, 10kW torque simulator which consists of three phase torque control inverter, 3 phase induction motor and PMSG(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator) is developed.

Different methods are used for determining the output of engines to obtain the indicated horsepower by measuring the combustion pressure of cylinders, and to obtain the shaft horsepower by measuring the shaft torque. It is difficult to examine the shaft torque using the condition of the cylinder, and the most accurate method used for determining the combustion pressure involves examining the combustion state of the cylinder to evaluate the engine performance and analyze the combustion of the cylinder. During the measurement, the combustion pressure is the most important parameter used for accurately determining the cylinder angle because the cylinder pressure is indicated based on the angle of the crankshaft. In this study, an encoder was used as the crank angle sensor to measure the cylinder pressure on the generator engine of the actual operating ship. The reasons for the differences between the top dead center (TDC) recognized by the encoder (TDCencoder) and the TDC recognized by the compression pressure (TDCcomp) were considered. The dif erences between the TDCcomp and TDCencoder of the cylinders measured at idle running, 25 %, 50 %, and 60 % loads were analyzed to determine for the crankshaft production effect, the crankshaft torsion effect owing to the increased rotational resistance from the increased load, and the coupling damping effect between the engine and generator. It was confirmed that the TDC error occurred up to 3° crank angle as the load of the generator increased.
In recent years, ISG (Integrated Starter and Generator) system receives a great attention for electric electrification of normal gasoline vehicle. As a cost-effect machine design, an ISG without a permanent magnet is considered. A 12slot-10pole field-excitation flux-switching synchronous machine (FEFSSM) is designed and analyzed via JMAG. The active parts such as the field excitation coil and armature coil are located on the stator. The rotor part consisting of single piece iron makes it more robust and suitable to apply for high speed motor drive system application coupled with reduction belt. The design target is the motor with a maximum torque of 40Nm, a maximum power of 10kW and a maximum speed of 14000 rpm. In this paper, design optimization method is proposed for high torque capability.

A controller using a multilayer neural network is proposed to the dynamic control of a PUMA 560 robot arm. This controller is developed based on an error back-propagation (BP) neural network. Since the neural network can model an arbitrary nonlinear mapping, it is used as a commanded feedforward torque generator. A Proportional Derivative (PD) feedback controller is used in parallel with the feedforward neural network to train the system. The neural network was trained by the current state of the manipulator as well as the PD feedback error torque. No a priori knowledge on system dynamics is needed and this information is rather implicitly stored in the interconnection weights of the neural network. In another experiment, the neural network was trained with the current, past and future positions only without any use of velocity sensors. Form this thim window of position values, BP network implicitly filters out the velocity and acceleration components for each joint. Computer simulation demonstrates such powerful characteristics of the neurocontroller as adaptation to changing environments, robustness to sensor noise, and continuous performance improvement with self-learning.
The analytical expressions for magnetic field distributions considering slotting effects, cogging torque and back-emf considering skew effects are established. On the basis of magnetic field solutions, electrical parameters such as back-emf constant and winding inductance are obtained. The predicted results are validated extensively by non-linear finite element (FE) analyses. In particular, test results such as back-emf, cogging torque, inductance and resistance measurements are given to confirm the analyses. Finally, generating performances are investigated by applying estimated parameters to equivalent circuit (EC) of the permanent magnet generator (PMG) and validated extensively by FE calculations and measurements.

This paper proposes a boost/flux-weakening controller (BFWC) for wide speed operation range having engine and interior permanent magnet synchronous generator (IPMSG) for special equipment vehicle. The proposed BFWC exploits direct torque/flux control (DTFC) scheme based on space vector modulation method to control the constant DC voltage output within the entire speed operation range of engine. And, to improve the response characteristics of maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) operation and flux-weakening operation, the MTPA and flux-weakening feed-forward controllers are applied. To estimate feasibility and usefulness of the proposed controller, the simulation and experimental results are compared.
