Topic-Network based Topic Shift Detection on Twitter (트위터 데이터를 이용한 네트워크 기반 토픽 변화 추적 연구)

  • This study identified topic shifts and patterns over time by analyzing an enormous amount of Twitter data whose characteristics are high accessibility and briefness. First, we extracted keywords for a certain product and used them for representing the topic network allows for intuitive understanding of keywords associated with topics by nodes and edges by co-word analysis. We conducted temporal analysis of term co-occurrence as well as topic modeling to examine the results of network analysis. In addition, the results of comparing topic shifts on Twitter with the corresponding retrieval results from newspapers confirm that Twitter makes immediate responses to news media and spreads the negative issues out quickly. Our findings may suggest that companies utilize the proposed technique to identify public's negative opinions as quickly as possible and to apply for the timely decision making and effective responses to their customers.

Trend Analysis of Research Related to Personality of University Students Through Network Analysis (네트워크 분석을 통한 대학생 인성 관련 연구의 동향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to use network analysis to identify trends in university personality-related studies and provide implications for future research directions. For the purpose of this study, 194 papers related to personality of university students published in Korean scholarly journals. First, research began to be published in 2004, slightly increased in 2012, continued an upward curve from 2015, peaked in 2017, and is confirmed to be a downward trend. Second, the main keywords with the centrality analysis were 'society' and 'cultivation'. Third, keywords on the cognitive side and individual dimension of personality in the first period (2004 - 2010), social dimension and emotional side of personality in the second period (2011-2015), and social level and cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of personality in the third period (2016-2020). Fourth, Topic 2 consisted of keywords of ability, life, interpersonal, satisfaction, and adaptation, and Topic 1 consisted of competence, morality, citizens, society, and practice. Fifth, Topic 4 alone in the first period, in the order of Topic 1 and Topic 2 in the second period, and in the order of Topic 2 and Topic 1 in the third period.

Research trends related to childhood and adolescent cancer survivors in South Korea using word co-occurrence network analysis

  • Purpose: This study analyzed research trends related to childhood and adolescent cancer survivors (CACS) using word co-occurrence network analysis on studies registered in the Korean Citation Index (KCI). Methods: This word co-occurrence network analysis study explored major research trends by constructing a network based on relationships between keywords (semantic morphemes) in the abstracts of published articles. Research articles published in the KCI over the past 10 years were collected using the Biblio Data Collector tool included in the NetMiner Program (version 4), using "cancer survivors", "adolescent", and "child" as the main search terms. After pre-processing, analyses were conducted on centrality (degree and eigenvector), cohesion (community), and topic modeling. Results: For centrality, the top 10 keywords included "treatment", "factor", "intervention", "group", "radiotherapy", "health", "risk", "measurement", "outcome", and "quality of life". In terms of cohesion and topic analysis, three categories were identified as the major research trends: "treatment and complications", "adaptation and support needs", and "management and quality of life". Conclusion: The keywords from the three main categories reflected interdisciplinary identification. Many studies on adaptation and support needs were identified in our analysis of nursing literature. Further research on managing and evaluating the quality of life among CACS must also be conducted.

A Keyword Analysis of Collection Development Policies of University and Public Libraries Using Text Mining (텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 대학도서관과 공공도서관의 장서개발 정책 키워드 분석)

  • For this article, we conducted frequency analysis, topic modeling, and network analysis on eleven texts related to collection development policy found in the National Library of Korea. We deduced the main keywords related to collection development policies and analyzed the relationship between them. We subsequently conducted a pie coefficient analysis to identify the characteristics of collection development policies of university libraries and public libraries by category. The results showed that keywords such as "material," "library," "collection development," "user," and "collection" were the main keywords in frequency analysis and network centrality. Meanwhile, the pie coefficient analysis revealed that keywords such as "university," "construction," "student," "target," and "cost" were prevalent in university libraries, indicating that the academic needs of users and the discussion of digital resources were primary issues, while keywords related to the information needs of various user groups-including "adults," "survey," "feature," and "religion" -appeared in public libraries.

A Study on Socio-technical System for Sustainability of the 4th Industrial Revolution: Machine Learning-based Analysis

  • The era of the 4th industrial revolution is a complex environment in which the cyber world and the physical world are integrated and interacted. In order to successfully implement and be sustainable the 4th industrial revolution of hyper-connectivity, hyper-convergence, and hyper-intelligence, not only the technological aspects that implemented digitalization but also the social aspects must be recognized and dealt with as important. There are socio-technical systems and socio-technical systems theory as concepts that describe systems involving complex interactions between the environmental aspects of human, mechanical and tissue systems. This study confirmed how the Socio-technical System was applied in the research literature for the last 10 years through machine learning-based analysis. Eight clusters were derived by performing co-occurrence keywords network analysis, and 13 research topics were derived and analyzed by performing a structural topic model. This study provides consensus and insight on the social and technological perspectives necessary for the sustainability of the 4th industrial revolution.

A Study on Contributor to Sports Development Big Data Research Using Oral Records

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the oral records of sports development contributors to explore the direction of big data research on sports development contributors in the future. To this end, the audio file produced in the interview with Lee00, a sports development contributor, was converted into text. The major themes were extracted by analyzing these oral records. The sub-themes were extracted in chronological order. Keywords were extracted by analyzing sub-themes. And the extracted keywords are searched in Google search engine to find related topics and to use them. A Google search for the topic 'Mt. Inwang' extracted from the oral archives of Lee00, a contributor to the development of sports, finds newspaper articles about President Moon Jae-in's climbing Mt. Inwang and opening up Mt. Bukhan. In addition, articles about Mt. Inwang and mountain climbers that the narrator In-jeong Lee speaks are searched for. XAI Research Trends Using Social Network Analysis and Topic Modeling (소셜 네트워크 분석과 토픽 모델링을 활용한 설명 가능 인공지능 연구 동향 분석)

  • Artificial intelligence has become familiar with modern society, not the distant future. As artificial intelligence and machine learning developed more highly and became more complicated, it became difficult for people to grasp its structure and the basis for decision-making. It is because machine learning only shows results, not the whole processes. As artificial intelligence developed and became more common, people wanted the explanation which could provide them the trust on artificial intelligence. This study recognized the necessity and importance of explainable artificial intelligence, XAI, and examined the trends of XAI research by analyzing social networks and analyzing topics with IEEE published from 2004, when the concept of artificial intelligence was defined, to 2022. Through social network analysis, the overall pattern of nodes can be found in a large number of documents and the connection between keywords shows the meaning of the relationship structure, and topic modeling can identify more objective topics by extracting keywords from unstructured data and setting topics. Both analysis methods are suitable for trend analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found that XAI's application is gradually expanding in various fields as well as machine learning and deep learning.

R&D Perspective Social Issue Packaging using Text Analysis

  • In recent years, text mining has been used to extract meaningful insights from the large volume of unstructured text data sets of various domains. As one of the most representative text mining applications, topic modeling has been widely used to extract main topics in the form of a set of keywords extracted from a large collection of documents. In general, topic modeling is performed according to the weighted frequency of words in a document corpus. However, general topic modeling cannot discover the relation between documents if the documents share only a few terms, although the documents are in fact strongly related from a particular perspective. For instance, a document about "sexual offense" and another document about "silver industry for aged persons" might not be classified into the same topic because they may not share many key terms. However, these two documents can be strongly related from the R&D perspective because some technologies, such as "RF Tag," "CCTV," and "Heart Rate Sensor," are core components of both "sexual offense" and "silver industry." Thus, in this study, we attempted to discover the differences between the results of general topic modeling and R&D perspective topic modeling. Furthermore, we package social issues from the R&D perspective and present a prototype system, which provides a package of news articles for each R&D issue. Finally, we analyze the quality of R&D perspective topic modeling and provide the results of inter- and intra-topic analysis.

  • 본 연구는 동시출현 단어분석 기법을 이용하여 최근 전세계적으로 많은 주목을 받고 있는 빅데이터(Big Data) 관련 연구 동향과 연구 영역을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 인용색인데이터베이스인 Web of Science SCIE(Science Citation Index Expanded)에서 분석 대상 논문을 수집하였다. 논문 수집을 위한 검색식은 은 Title(논문 제목), Abstract(초록), Author Keywords(저자 키워드), Keywords $Plus^{(R)}$의 네 가지 필드를 동시에 검색하는 주제어(topic)가 "big data"를 포함하고 있는 논문 563편을 대상으로 동시출현단어 분석을 수행하였다.

  • Analysis of research trends in specific subject areas is performed by examining related topics and subject changes by using topic modeling techniques through keyword extraction for most of the literature information (paper, patents, etc.). Unlike existing research methods, this paper extracts topics related to the research topic using the LDA topic modeling technique for the project information of national R&D projects provided by the National Science and Technology Knowledge Information Service (NTIS) in the field of artificial intelligence. By analyzing these topics, this study aims to analyze research topics and investment directions for national R&D projects. NTIS provides a vast amount of national R&D information, from information on tasks carried out through national R&D projects to research results (thesis, patents, etc.) generated through research. In this paper, the search results were confirmed by performing artificial intelligence keywords and related classification searches in NTIS integrated search, and basic data was constructed by downloading the latest three-year project information. Using the LDA topic modeling library provided by Python, related topics and keywords were extracted and analyzed for basic data (research goals, research content, expected effects, keywords, etc.) to derive insights on the direction of research investment.
