This study investigated differences in the topic performance of 3-year-old Korean and American children. Sixteen mother and child dyads (8 Americans and 8 Koreans) were tape-recorded during naturally occurring conversations. The cape-recorded data were transcribed on the observational chechlist by Kertoy Vetter(1995). Korean children engaged in topic performance nearly twice as often as American children. Korean children engaged in topic termination/initiation and continuation more often than American children. Also, Korean children engaged in topic collaboration and incorporation more often than American children, but there was no difference in off-topic.

This study analyzed research trends in the field of ecological research. Data were collected based on a keyword search of the SCI, SSCI, and A&HCI databases from January 2002 to September 2022. The seven keywords, including biodiversity, ecology, ecotourism, species, climate change, ecosystem, restoration, wildlife, were recommended by ecological research experts. Word clouds were created for each of the searched keywords, and topic map analysis was performed. Topic map analysis using biodiversity, climate change, ecology, ecosystem, and restoration each generated 10 topics; topic maps analysis using the ecotourism keyword generated 5 topics; and topic map analysis using the wildlife keyword generated 4 topics. Each topic contained six keywords.
Online reviews offer valuable information to businesses by reflecting consumer experiences about their products and services. Two important aspects of online reviews are first, the topics consumers choose to address and second, the sentiments expressed in their reviews. Building upon previous literature that shows online reviews are context-dependent, we examine the impact of topic distribution on review sentiment in South Korea and the U.S. during pre-and post-pandemic periods. After performing topic modeling on Airbnb app review data, we measure the contribution of each topic on review sentiment using SHAP values. Our results indicate variations in topic distribution trends between 2018 and 2021. Also, the order and magnitude of topics' impact on review sentiment change between pre-and post-pandemic periods for both countries. This study can help businesses to understand how topics and sentiments associated with their products and services changed after pandemic, and also help them identify areas of improvement.
Online reviews offer valuable information to businesses by reflecting consumer experiences about their products and services. Two crucial aspects of online reviews are the topics consumers choose to address, and the sentiments expressed in their reviews. Building upon previous literature that shows online reviews are context-dependent, we employ the Expectation-Confirmation Theory (ECT) to examine the impact of topic distribution on review sentiment in South Korea and the U.S. during pre- and post-pandemic periods. After applying a topic modeling to Airbnb app review data, we measure the contribution of each topic on review sentiment using SHAP values. In this study, tweets about the 2019 Koreas-US DMZ Summit were collected along with a time sequence and analyzed by a sequential topic modeling method, Dynamic Topic Modeling(DTM). In microblogging services such as Twitter, unstructured data that mixes news and an opinion about a single event occurs at the same time on a large scale, and information and reactions are produced in the same message format. Therefore, to grasp a topic trend, the contextual meaning can be found only by performing pattern analysis reflecting the characteristics of sequential data. As a result of calculating the DTM after obtaining the topic coherence score and evaluating the Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA), 30 topics related to news reports and opinions were derived, and the probability of occurrence of each topic and keywords were dynamically evolving. In conclusion, the study found that DTM is a suitable model for analyzing the trend of integrated topics in a specific event over time.
The environment of academic research is continuously changing due to the increase of information, which raises the need for an effective way to analyze and organize large amounts of documents. In this paper, we propose Performance Improvement of Topic Modeling using BART(Bidirectional and Auto-Regressive Transformers) based Document Summarization. The proposed method uses BART-based document summary model to extract the core content and improve topic modeling performance using LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) algorithm. We suggest an approach to improve the performance and efficiency of LDA topic modeling through document summarization and validate it through experiments. The experimental results show that the BART-based model for summarizing article data captures the important information of the original articles with F1-Scores of 0.5819, 0.4384, and 0.5038 in Rouge-1, Rouge-2, and Rouge-L performance evaluations, respectively. In addition, topic modeling using summarized documents performs about 8.08% better than topic modeling using full text in the performance comparison using the Perplexity metric. This contributes to the reduction of data throughput and improvement of efficiency in the topic modeling process.
Recently, as text data through online channels have become vast, there is a growing interest in research that summarizes and analyzes them. One of the fundamental analyses of text data is to extract potential topics. Although the researcher may read all the data and summarize the contents one by one, it is not easy to deal with large amounts of data. Blei and Lafferty (2007) and Blei et al. (2003) proposed topic modeling methods for extracting topics using a statistical model. Since the text data is generally collected over time, it is worthwhile to monitor the topic's changes. In this study, we propose a topic index based on the results of the topic model. In addition, a control chart, a representative tool for statistical process management, is applied to monitor the topic index over time. As a practical example, we use text data collected from Blue House National Petition boards between March 5, 2018, and March 5, 2020.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify research topics in the emergency medical technician (EMT) field and examine research trends. Methods: In this study, 261 research papers published between January 2000 and May 2022 were collected, and EMT research topics and trends were analyzed using topic modeling techniques. This study used a text mining technique and was conducted using data collection flow, keyword preprocessing, and analysis. Keyword preprocessing and data analysis were done with the RStudio Version 4.0.0 program. Results: Keywords were derived through topic modeling analysis, and eight topics were ultimately identified: patient treatment, various roles, the performance of duties, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, triage systems, job stress, disaster management, and education programs. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it is believed that a study on the development and application of education programs that can successfully increase the emergency care capabilities of EMTs is needed.
Technological innovation generates products, services, and processes that can disrupt existing industries and lead to the emergence of new fields. Distributed ledger technology, or blockchain, offers novel transparency, security, and anonymity characteristics in transaction data that may disrupt existing industries. However, research attention has largely examined its application to finance. Less is known of any broader applications, particularly in Industry 4.0. This study investigates academic research publications on blockchain and predicts emerging industries using academia-industry dynamics. This study adopts latent Dirichlet allocation and dynamic topic models to analyze large text data with a high capacity for dimensionality reduction. Prior studies confirm that research contributes to technological innovation through spillover, including products, processes, and services. This study predicts emerging industries that will likely incorporate blockchain technology using insights from the knowledge structure of publications.

A topic segmentation module is to divide statements or conversations into certain topic units. Until now, topic segmentation has progressed in the direction of finding an optimized set of segments for a whole document, considering it all together. However, some applications need topic segmentation for a part of document which is not finished yet. In this paper, we propose a model to perform topic segmentation during the progress of the statement with a supervised learning model that uses a convolution neural network. In order to show the effectiveness of our model, we perform experiments of topic segmentation both on-line status and off-line status using C99 algorithm. We can see that our model achieves 17.8 and 11.95 of Pk score, respectively.
