Semi-active control of ship mast vibrations using magneto-rheological dampers

  • On marine vessels, delicate instruments such as navigation radars are normally mounted on ship masts. However the vibrations at the top of mast where the radar is mounted often cause serious deterioration in radar-tracking resolution. The most serious problem is caused by the rotational vibrations at the top of mast that may be due to wind loading, inertial loading from ship rolling and base excitations induced by the running propeller. This paper presents a method of semi-active vibration control using magneto-rheological (MR) dampers to reduce the rotational vibration of the mast. In the study, the classical optimal control algorithm, the independent modal space control algorithm and the double input - single output fuzzy control algorithm are employed for the vibration control. As the phenomenological model of an MR damper is highly nonlinear, which is difficult to analyse, a back- propagation neural network is trained to emulate the inverse dynamic characteristics of the MR damper in the analysis. The trained neural network gives the required voltage for each MR damper based on the displacement, velocity and control force of the MR damper quickly. Numerical simulations show that the proposed control methods can effectively suppress the rotational vibrations at the top of mast.

투명 유연 AMOLED TV 구현을 위한 증착형 SnO2/Ag-Pd-Cu(APC)/SnO2 다층 투명 캐소드 박막 연구

  • OLED 소자는 발광 방향에 따라 Bottom Emission 방식과 Top Emission 방식으로 나뉜다. 이 중 대면적 OLED TV 적용에 개구율이 더 높은 Top Emission방식을 선호하는 추세이다. 높은 개구율을 가진 Top Emission OLED소자를 위해서는 투명하고 전도성이 높은 캐소드가 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 Themal Evaporation 시스템을 이용하여 증착한 $SnO_2/Ag-Pd-Cu(APC)/SnO_2$ hybrid 전극의 특성을 연구하고 Oxide/Metal/Oxide(OMO) hybrid 박막의 bending mechanism을 제시하였다. base pressure는 $1{\times}10^{-6}Torr$로 고정하고 $SnO_2$ 박막은 0.34A / 0.32V, APC 박막은 0.46A / 0.40V의 power로 성막하였다. APC와 $SnO_2$의 두께를 변수로 OMO 전극을 제작하였고 그 전기적, 광학적 특성을 Hall measurement, UV/Visible spectroscopy을 이용하여 분석하고 Figure of merit 값을 바탕으로 최적 두께를 설정하였다. UPS(Ultraviolet Photoelectron Spectroscopy) 분석으로 $SnO_2/APC/SnO_2$ 전극의 일함수을 통해 투명 cathode로 쓰였을 때 $SnO_2$ 층이 buffer layer역할을 함을 확인하였다. XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)를 이용하여 정성분석과 정량분석을 하였고 OMO hybrid 전극의 bending mechanism 연구를 위해 다양한 bending test (Inner/Outer dynamic fatigue test, twisting test, rolling test)를 진행하였다. 물리적 힘이 가해진 OMO hybrid 전극의 표면과 구조는 FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) 분석을 통해서 확인할 수 있었다.

Measured structural response of a long irregular pit constructed using a top-down method

  • A 1257-m-long irregular deep foundation pit located in the central of Nanjing, China was constructed using the combined full-width and half-width top-down method. Based on the long-term field monitoring data, this study analyzed the evolution characteristics of the vertical movement of the columns, internal force of the struts, and axial force of the structural beam and slab. The relevance of the three mentioned above and their relationship with the excavation process, structural system, and geological conditions were also investigated. The results showed that the column uplift was within the range of 0.08% to 0.22% of the excavation depth, and the embedded depth ratio of the diaphragm wall and the bottom heave affected significantly on the column uplift. The differential settlement between the column and diaphragm wall remained unchanged after the base slab was cast. The final settlement of the diaphragm wall was twice the column uplift. The internal force of the struts did not varied monotonically but was related to numerous factors such as the excavation depth, number of struts, and environmental conditions. Additionally, the dynamic force and deformation of the columns, beams, and slabs were analyzed to investigate the inherent relationship and variation patterns of the responses of different parts of the structure.

  • 우리나라는 점차 강화되고 있는 세계적인 연간 소비전력 제한 규제 및 정책에 발맞추어 Standby Korea 2010 정책으로 주요 전자기기의 대기전력을 1W미만으로 낮추는 전략을 추진하고 있다. 최근 아날로그 방송에서 디지털 방송으로 전환되고, IPTV 등이 빠르게 보급됨에 따라 향후 디지털 STB의 수요 및 시장이 크게 성장할 전망이다. 이에 본 논문은 Set-Top Box(STB) 소비전력 저감 효과를 높이기 위해 TV와 STB간 외부기기 연결 시 기존 Auto Power Down(APD)기법 대비 High Definition Multimedia Interface(HDMI) 포트 제어를 통한 제안 기법을 적용하여 연평균 전력 4~12% 저감 할 수 있다.

  • Present. direct method x-ray conversion detector is studied by abroad medical instrument and country with amorphous Selenium. And we search the method for large area x-ray detector. Amorphous-Selenium based photoreceptor is widely used on the X-ray conversion materials. But amorphous-selenium based x-ray conversion detector is broken by high voltage and leakage defect point. In this paper, We investigated top-electrode distance rate to improve defect point and high voltage broken. The result to appoint to made large area x-ray conversion detector with base data.

A Study on Durability of Sprayed Coating Layer in the Molten Zn-0.2% Al Alloy Bath (아연-0.2%알루미늄합금 용융도금액 중에서 용사층의 내구성에 관한 연구)

  • Sink roll has been used in molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy bath of continuous galvanizing line in sinking and stabilizing process of the steel strip in molten metal bath. In this process, although the scraper scraps off the sink roll surface, the dross compounds is builded up on the sink roll surface and the life time of the sink roll is shorten by the dross compounds. The present study was investigated the application of the spray coating layer on sink roll body for improving durability In molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy. Through the durability tests in molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy with various ceramic and cermet coating layer, the optimum bond and top coating material was obtained. As the results, the system of STS430F base metal, WC-l7Co bond and $ZrO_2-SiO_2$ top coating was clarified to be the best quality of durability in molten Zn-0.2%Al alloy.

  • We report the transparent getter performance of $POCl_3$ and amine based system by using the acid-base reaction in the fastest chemical reaction for top emitting OLEDs. OLED device including synthesized getter component exhibited stable current-voltage curve after 500 hours under $60^{\circ}C$, 90% RH storage condition and showed stable surface performance until 520 hours.

Calculation of the coupling coefficient for trapezoidal gratings using the ray optics technique (기하광학 방법을 이용한 사다리꼴 회절격자의 결합계수 계산)

  • Using the ray optics technique, we derive the analytic expressions of TE mode coupling coefficient for five-layer distributed feedback (DFB) structure devices. We compare the coupling coefficient calculated by the ray optics technique with those calulated by the extended additional layer method (EALM) which may be a most accurate method of calculating the coupling coefficient. The difference between the results of the ray optics technique and those of the EALM is small for most cases of grating depth and forms being practically made. In the case of rectangular gratings, the difference increases as the duty cycle of graing deviates from 0.5. In the case of the trapezoidal grating, the difference increases as the ratio of the top to the period of grating deviates from 0.5 and as the length of the top becomes longer than that of the base. The difference of theree-layer DFB structures is smaller than that of five-layer DFB structures.

A Study on the Costumes of Two Women Statuettes Made with Three Colored Ceramic Parhae Dynasty, Excavated from a Tomb in Shiguo(석국) (석국묘 출토 발해 삼채 여용의 복식 연구)

  • This study is an analysis on the costumes of two statuettes of standing women made with three colored cermai excavated from Parhae tomb in Shiguo(석국), Chilin province(길림성), China. These statuettes wear similar clothing ; A narrow sleeved under-blouse with a decollette neckline and a long skirt tied above the bosom. But their hairstyles are quite different ; one has a bun top of the head which tipped slightly forward. the other has two buns with two loops near ears. Their shoes are a little different: in the former the top of the shoes are a little crooked, but in the latter they are high-fronted and more crooked. These two statueettes are valueable and unique source which demonstrates the female costumes of Parhae dynasty, and at the same time which accounts for the acceptance and assimilation of costumes of Tang dynasty. Base upon the analysis on their costumes, hairstyles , and their expressions of the body shape, two statuettes seem to be made after the early 8th century.

  • Increasing demand of using low weight materials in recent automotive trends has been the challenge to develop a sound welding of aluminum alloys. A heat treatable AA6082-T6 and a non-heat treatable AA5083-0 aluminum alloys were joined in this study. Investigations revealed that about 60 UTS will be reduced due to welding process. Fracture happened in the interface between fusion zone and base metal of top specimen where penetration is shallow. Therefore, lower welding torch angle produced the better strength which allows deeper penetration to the top specimen. PWHT at $560^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours can be used to return the original UTS of the specimens.
