  • Weight loss treatment of a fiber leads an improvement of its handle and drape properties. Hydrolysis of a fiber is commonly known as a method to reduce its weight of 5-40%. Most of the studies on the weight loss treatment are mainly based on polyester fibers and there has been almost no study on the weight reduction of nylon fibers. In this study, however, in order to develop a use of nylon 6 fiber for the industrial applications such as toothbrush, underwear, carpet and more, weight loss treatment of a nylon 6 fiber was carried out. Under various treatment conditions, morphological analysis were done to observe the change in the structure of the surface and analysis. From the observation of formic acid treated nylon 6 fiber, there were many etched and deformed morphologies. Thermal and crystalline properties were analyzed to find the changes in the crystal structure caused by the weight loss treatment. There were little differences in the crystalline properties of nylon 6 fiber by formic acid treatment. Tensile strength of nylon 6 fiber decreases with acid concentration. The FITR peak intensity of the amide bond decreases with formic acid concentration.

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationships among snack habits, oral health practice, and oral health status in preschool children. Methods: The subjects were 209 preschool children and their mothers in Jeonbuk from March 24 to May 30, 2014. The study instruments comprised snack habits, oral health practice, and oral health status. Data were analyzed for independent t-test, one way ANOVA and hierarchical multiple regression using SPSS Win 21.0 version. Results: Higher dft index was shown in the older age (p=0.033), lower mother's education (p<0.001), lower mother's daily toothbrushing (p<0.001), check-up after tooth-brushing (p<0.001), tooth-brushing practice before sleeping (p<0.001), tooth-brushing practice after snack (p<0.001), regular dental check-up (p<0.001), fluoride and sealant for prevention caries (p<0.001), limitation of sugar snack intake (p<0.007), periodic replacement toothbrush (p=0.022). The cause of higher dft index included soda (p<0.001), yogurt (p<0.001), snack (p=0.002), bread and cake (p=0.002) and caramel and candy (p<0.001). Fruit (p<0.001), vegetable (p<0.001) and milk (p=0.004) decreased dft index. Factors affecting oral health status were tooth-brushing practice before sleeping, tooth-brushing practice after snack, regular dental check-up, fluoride and sealant for prevention caries, and intake of soda, yogurt, caramel, candy, and fruit. The explanation power of the final model was 67.6%. • Objectives : This study was performed to provide the basic data for oral health of infants, through the comparison of Streptococcus mutans activities(the representative bacteria of initial dental caries), in main nutritional foods for infants: breast milk, milk powder, and soya milk. Methods : The study targeted 30 infants and the saliva was sampled after the oral examination. The pH of sampled saliva was measured; and the sample of 'the saliva', 'the saliva and breast milk', and 'the saliva and formula milk' by researcher were produced; and the measurement was repeated 7 times. Results : As a result of examining the change of colony number of Streptococcus mutans by hour, the bacterial activity took in the source of nutrition took place in the first place; and in the group with dental caries, breast-feeding at night occurreds most frequently. Due to the combined activities, such as the increase in the contact time, the existence rate of dental caries appeared high. However, as the improvement of breast-feeding is closely related to the nutrition supply to babies, rather than the improvement of breast-feeding, the 12 hours after the culture in which Streptococcus mutans activities started was considered. Conclusions : In case of breast-feeding at night, it is necessary to remove the dental plaque in the mouth, before 12 hours has passed. Especially, using toothbrush and toothpaste to decrease the occurrence of dental caries, after the eruption of teeth, is recommended for oral administration.

  • Purpose: The study has been undertaken on several factors that may influence on the orthodontic treatment satisfaction with the subject of male and female university students who have experience in receiving the orthodontic treatment by visiting orthodontic clinic. Methods: This study has implemented questionnaire survey for 350 male and female university students who have experience in receiving the orthodontic treatment by visiting orthodontic clinic due to the mall occlusion, From the 350 questionnaires collected, a total of 291 copies (83.1%) excluding the questionnaires that have inconclusive response or erroneous response is used as the research analysis data Results: The orthodontic treatment satisfaction is significantly higher for students in large cities and mid- to small sized cities than students in rural area, and it was higher for students with mid-economic class that students of upper class and lower class. It is shown for a student that began the orthodontic treatment from the elementary school, a student that had 5 times or more of brushing teeth for each day had significantly higher level of satisfaction that students that are not. In addition, a student that knows well of the oral hygiene management method, a student that had the fluoride application treatment during the orthodontic treatment period and a student that used the toothbrush for orthodontic service had significantly higher level of satisfaction that students that are not. Conclusion: Factors influencing on the orthodontic treatment satisfaction are very diverse and it is considered that it requires effort to improve the quality of medical service and sufficient understanding on several factors to improve the orthodontic treatment satisfaction for patients as well as the encouragement for orthodontic treatment patients of the relevant people in orthodontic clinics that provide the orthodontic clinic service.

  • Rapid Prototyping (RP) is a technology that produces prototype parts from 3D computer aided design model data without intermediate processing technology rapidly. CAD model data are created from 3D object digitizing systems but presented just as 2D data when they are printed as a hard copy or displayed on a monitor. However, Rapid Prototyping Technology fabricates 3D objects the same that CAD data because it transforms designed 3D CAD data into 2D cross sectional data, and manufactures layer by layer deposition sequentially. But most of all the small and medium scale companies which produce a toothbrush, a toy and such like provisions are in difficult situations to buy RP system because it is very expensive. In this paper, we propose a 3D control system adopting open source programs for implementing Rapid Prototyping Technology in order that RP system can be purchase at a moderate price.

The gross average of health beliefs was 3.71.Perceived sensitivity mean was 2.99, perceived seriousness mean was 3.47 and perceived profitability mean was the highest at 4.35.In the case of Health beliefs according to health behavior and oral health behavior, perceived sensitivity and health beliefs was high in non-drinking. Perceived profitability and health beliefs was high in non-smoking. Health beliefs, perceived importance and profitability were high at the replacement time of brushing where the crust was sensitive in the range of brushing. In the brushing range, perceived sensitivity was high. In the brushing exchange cycle, health beliefs, perceived seriousness and perceived profitability were high. As a result of regression analysis, non-smoking(p=.009), brushing exchange time was 1-3 months (p=.000), health belief was high. A comprehensive systematic education of appropriate health and brushing behavior will be carried out for international student health promotion.
