Geothermal heat pump system (GHPS) is an energy-efficient technology that use the relatively constant and renewable energy stored in the earth to provide heating and cooling. With the aim of using GHPS as a heating source, it's possibilities of application in farrowing house were examined by measuring environmental assessment and sow's performance. A total of 96 sows were assigned to 2 pig housings (GHPS and conventional housing) with 48 for four weeks in winter season. During the experimental period, indoor maximum temperature in GHPS-housing was measured up to $26.7^{\circ}C$, average temperature could maintain $21.2^{\circ}C$. The mean value of dust levels and $CO_2$, $NH_3$ and $H_2S$ gas emissions were decreased in GHPS-housing compare with those of conventional housing. Litter size, birth weight, parity and weaning weight did not differ between housings. However, feed intake of sow in GHPS-housing was lower than that of conventional housing. In energy consumption for heating, electric power consumption increased in GHPS-housing than the conventional housing, a 2,250 kwh increase, whereas there is no fuel usage for heater in GHPS-housing. Amount of ground water circulated for heating in cold weather for earth heat exchanger was 8.4-12.9 ton per day. In conclusion, GHPS may have environmental benefits and effectiveness of heating in farrowing housing and affect the performance in sows.
Recently, new climate change mechanism after 2020 year has been accepted with the parties, and so government is pushing ahead the GHG reduction policies to achieve the effective results. Especially, it is essential to enhance the role of railroad in the public traffic system as well as to develop new cars with high energy efficiency for the GHG reduction of transportation sector. Thus, the calculation method of GHG emission of railroad should be established to manage the emission continuously. In this study, the calculation method of GHG emission of railroad was defined with Tier level considering its emission sources to refer to 2006 IPCC guideline for national GHG inventories. Also, the GHG emission of railroad at Tier 1 level was investigated using the activity data related to the amount of diesel and electricity consumption from 2008 to 2010. As a result, total GHG emission in 2010 was about 2,060 thousands ton CO2e, which have 73% of electricity and 27% of diesel. In future, the plans on the GHG reduction of railroad will be accomplished by the analysis of the detailed trends on the basis of the emission management of Tier 3 level under operating patterns. Therefore, it is important to develop the specific GHG emission factors of railroad in advance.

This paper dealt with the design and fabrication of an energy saving light emitting diode (LED) fishing lamp. Most fishes such as a squid, horse mackerel, mackerel, sardine and scabbard fish have characteristics for phototaxis and fishing lamps have promoted the fishery efficiency using their photo-reaction. In these days, metal halide lamp (MHL) as the fishing lamp, which consumes 1.5 kW and radiates harmful ultraviolet rays are mainly used. To develop the LED-fishing lamp, the penetration depth in sea water and the photo-reaction of a squid as light wavelength were studied. The experimental results showed the both characteristics were existed in blue color around 470 nm. Based on the results, we manufactured a 160 W and blue LED-fishing lamp which is consume about one-nine of 1.5 kW MHL. As energy saving effect, the use of LED-fishing lamp can reduce 128 kWh per an hour which is correspond to $CO_2$ of 86 kg for a 22ton-fishing boat equipped with 80-1.5 kW MHL. Now, the prototype LED fishing lampsare being evaluated on two fishing boats.
Construction development and greenhouse gas emissions have globally required a strategic management to take some steps to stain and maintain the environment. Nowadays, recycled aggregates, in particular ceramic waste, have been widely used in concrete structures due to the economic and environmentally friendly solution, requiring the knowledge of recycled concrete. Also, one of the materials used as a substitute for concrete cement is wollastonite mineral to decrease carbon dioxide (CO2) from the cement production process by reducing the concrete consumption in concrete. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of wollastonite on the mechanical properties and durability of conventional composite concrete, containing recycled aggregates such as compressive strength, tensile strength (Brazilian test), and durability to acidic environment. On the other hand, in order to determine the strength and durability of the concrete, 5 mixing designs including different wollastonite values and recovered aggregates including constant values have been compared to the water - cement ratio (w/c) constant in all designs. The experimental results have shown that design 5 (containing 40% wollastonite) shows only 6.1% decrease in compressive strength and 4.9% decrease in tensile strength compared to the control plane. Consequently, the use of wollastonite powder to the manufacturing of conventional structural concrete containing recycled ceramic aggregates, in addition to improving some of the properties of concrete are environmentally friendly solutions, providing natural recycling of materials.

According to the increase of the operating cost and material cost of a ship due to the change of international oil price, a demand for the lightening of the ship weight is being made from various parties such as shipping companies, ship owners, and shipyards. To satisfy such demand, many studies for a light ship are being made. As one of them, an optimal design method of an existing hull structure, that is, a method for lightening the ship weight based on the optimization technique was proposed in this study. For this, we selected a hatch cover of a bulk carrier as an optimization target and formulated an optimization problem in order to determine optimal principal dimensions of the hatch cover for lightening the bulk carrier. Some dimensions representing the shape of the hatch cover were selected as design variables and some design considerations related to the maximum stress, maximum deflection, and geometry of the hatch cover were selected as constraints. In addition, the minimization of the weight of the hatch cover was selected as an objective function. To solve this optimization problem, we developed an optimization program based on the Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) using C++ programming language. To evaluate the applicability of the developed program, it was applied to a problem for finding optimal principal dimensions of the hatch cover of a deadweight 180,000 ton bulk carrier. The result shows that the developed program can decrease the hatch cover's weight by about 8.5%. Thus, this study will be able to contribute to make energy saving and environment-friendly ship in shipyard.

Some of the important and vital roles performed by the Health Care Center of Pohang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.(POSCO) are the periodic monitoring of the work sites as well as regular medical check-ups for each workers to ensure both pleasant and safe working conditions and to protect employees' health. Pohang Steel Works, which has 42 plants, 26 facilities and 12,000 employees, has an annual crude steel production capacity of 9,670,000 using 24,500,000 ton of raw materials. We have measured lots of areal and personal working environment according to Occupational Safety and Health Law semiannually. All data collected on industrial hygiene is stored and managed by personal computer. The developed of a computerized industrial hygiene control system linked to the company's main computer system will provide efficient evaluation of the working environment as well as critical informations on employees' health. Development of this system had begun in May, 1992 and was completed in March, 1994. The computerized industrial hygiene control system can; 1. store industrial hygiene data, providing key pertinent to the diagnosis of occupational related illnesses, and if necessary, the basis for improving the working environment, 2. decide type and time of medical examination of each work for exposure to specific agents, and supply proper protection periodically, 3. prevent occupational related illnesses through evaluation of environmental and biological monitoring, and performance of epidemiological surveillance, 4. facilitate proper job placement through linking of industrial hygiene control and personnel information systems, 5. monitor job processes. levels of chemical agents used, and new agents introduced, 6. and increase productivity by saving time resulting from the implementation of the computerized sysyte,
This study set out to evaluate the economy, environmentality, and complexity (economy+environmentality) of fire station buildings of public service facilities and propose ways to apply the optimization of renewable energy system to fire station buildings. As for economy according to life cycle costs, economy increased when the application percentage of the geothermal and solar heat system increased over the three renewable energy system types (geothermal, solar heat, and solar photovoltaic). On the other hand, economy decreased when the application percentage of the solar photovoltaic system increased. As for environmentality according to tons of carbon dioxide, environmentality decreased when the application percentage of the geothermal and solar heat system increased. Environmentality increased when the application percentage of the solar photovoltaic system increased. As for complexity (economy+environmentality) according to the weighted coefficient method, complexity increased when the application percentage of the geothermal system increased. It was highest at the combination of the solar heat system (20%) and geothermal system (80%). On the other hand, complexity decreased when the application percentage of the solar photovoltaic system increased. It was lowest at the combination of the solar photovoltaic system (80%) and geothermal system (20%).

Recently, various researches are conducted in the application of regenerative energy produced during the operation of an electric locomotive. Regenerative energy is produced by a generator in the brake procedure. The generator is operated by kinetic energy of an electric railroad using an electric motor. The process of producing regenerative energy varies with the current type of a railroad and its running condition. The quality of electric power can be improved and electric energy can be utilized effectively, especially in the use of an energy storage system (ESS). Thus, it is necessary to apply ESS into AC section and high speed railway. This study analyses the composition of the regenerative ESS equipment installed in Yong-Jeong sectioning post, operational principle, charge and discharge algorithm and energy efficiency. The analysis shows that CO2 emissions can be reduced about 0.5 ton per a day. In addition, ESS helps saving the energy and the compensation of the voltage drop caused by the operation of high speed train when it is installed at the end of the feeder section. The number of high speed train will be increased continuously related to the electrification rate. Therefore, applying the ESS to high speed railway is expected to solve the instability of the feeder voltage and the equipment capacity problem caused by the high speed trains.

The tunnel type spillways is under construction to increasing water reservoir capacity in Dae-am dam. The tunnel outlet was planned to be made after installing slope stabilization system on natural slope there. Generally, the tunnel outlet is made perpendicularly to the slope, but in this case, it had to be made obliquely to the slope for not interrupting flow of river. Because of excavation in condition of natural slope caused to deflecting earth pressure, the outlet couldn't be made. So, artificial ground made with concrete that it was constructed in the outside of tunnel for producing the arching effect which enables to make a outlet. We were planned tunnel excavation was carried out after artificial ground made. Artificial ground made by poor mix concrete of which it was planned that the thickness was at least 3.0m height from outside of tunnel lining and 30cm of height per pouring. Spreading and compaction was planned utilized weight of 15 ton roller machine. In order to access of working truck, slope of artificial ground was designed 1:1.0 and applied 2% slope in upper pert of it for easily drainage of water. In addition to, upper pert of artificial ground was covered with soil, because of impaction of rock fall from upper slope was made minimum. The tunnel excavation of the artificial ground was designed application with special blasting method that it was Super Wedge and control blasting utilized with pre-percussion hole.

In this study, the stability of fishing boat inducing the change of fishing lamp in accordance with the installation of induction lamp in comparison with metal halide lamp was investigated. Inclining test for 8.55 ton class of hair-tail angling fishing boat was performed in order to find a GM and light weight. A stability calculation of the target fishing boat on the basis of KST-SHIP program was evaluated. The stability of the fishing boat with a metal halide lamp such as induction lamp according to the result obtained by the inclining test is slightly different, and the stability is not so much affected. Due to the induction lamp installation, the wind area increased by about 3.178 m2. Before installing the induction fishing lamp, G0M was found to be 0.209 at full load departure and 0.296 at departure from fishing ground. After installing the induction lamp, the full load departure condition is 0.178 and the fishing ground departure condition is 0.260. The G0M value before and after installation of the induction fishing lamp shows a difference of about 3% at the full load departure condition. The value of the critical angle of inclination definition showed a difference of about 16%. Despite these differences, it is lower than the regulations; it was confirmed that there will be no significant difference unless it is in an overloaded state.
