In this study, we analyze the rattle noise of a power takeoff (PTO) driveline and develop a PTO driveline resonance model. We measured the rattle noise of the PTO driveline on the output shaft and, by analyzing the rattle noise in the time domain, we determine that the engine expansion stroke period matches the sound pressure of rattle noise. This finding helped us demonstrate that the rattle noise is caused by the collision between the PTO driving gear and the gear driven by the engine expansion stroke; the torsional vibration caused by this collision is affected by the angular velocity fluctuation of the PTO drive shaft. By measuring the angular velocity of the PTO drive shaft, we confirm that the angular velocity fluctuation of the engine flywheel tends to excessively amplify the PTO drive shaft angular velocity fluctuation. We conclude that the resonance, which occurs when the operating frequency of the engine is close to the natural frequency of the tractor power transmission system, causes the excessive angular velocity fluctuation of the PTO drive shaft. We performed a modal analysis of the PTO driveline resonance and, using the characteristic equation, we show that the resonance occurs when the engine rotation speed is close to 850 rpm, which matches the natural frequency of the PTO driveline.

Cardiomyocyte differentiation occurs through complex and finely regulated processes including cardiac lineage commitment and maturation from pluripotent stem cells (PSCs). To gain some insight into the genome-wide characteristics of cardiac lineage commitment, we performed transcriptome analysis on both mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs) and human induced PSCs (hiPSCs) at specific stages of cardiomyocyte differentiation. Specifically, the gene expression profiles and the protein-protein interaction networks of the mESC-derived platelet-derived growth factor receptor-alpha (PDGFRα)+ cardiac lineage-committed cells (CLCs) and hiPSC-derived kinase insert domain receptor (KDR)+ and PDGFRα+ cardiac progenitor cells (CPCs) at cardiac lineage commitment were compared with those of mesodermal cells and differentiated cardiomyocytes. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analyses revealed that the genes significantly upregulated at cardiac lineage commitment were associated with responses to organic substances and external stimuli, extracellular and myocardial contractile components, receptor binding, gated channel activity, PI3K-AKT signaling, and cardiac hypertrophy and dilation pathways. Protein-protein interaction network analysis revealed that the expression levels of genes that regulate cardiac maturation, heart contraction, and calcium handling showed a consistent increase during cardiac differentiation; however, the expression levels of genes that regulate cell differentiation and multicellular organism development decreased at the cardiac maturation stage following lineage commitment. Additionally, we identified for the first time the protein-protein interaction network connecting cardiac development, the immune system, and metabolism during cardiac lineage commitment in both mESC-derived PDGFRα+ CLCs and hiPSC-derived KDR+PDGFRα+ CPCs. These findings shed light on the regulation of cardiac lineage commitment and the pathogenesis of cardiometabolic diseases.

This paper is to analyze the behaviors of tunnel support by TDR(Time Domain Reflectometry) sensor using electrical pulse. To analysis the behaviors of tunnel support, Copper tape as sensing materials was studied for on-site installation. Copper tape to the top of the glass tape, foam tape, and shielding the lower part was used electromagnetic shield sheet. For a high sensitivity to load and fill out the measurement noise emissions has been developed for the production of materials. This sensing material through the tunnel model tests for the change by surcharge load in TDR data were analyzed. Varing stiffness and support of conditions were determined the change of TDR data through PVC pipe tunnel section model tests. By comparing TDR data and finite element analysis, the behaviors of the tunnel support materials were analyzed qualitatively.
Research on the development of marine renewable energy is actively in progress. Various studies are being conducted on the development of wave energy converters. In this study, a numerical analysis of wave-energy extraction performance was performed according to the body shape and scale of the sloped oscillating water column (OWC) wave energy converter (WEC), which can be connected with the breakwater. The sloped OWC WEC was modeled in the time domain using a two-dimensional fully nonlinear numerical wave tank. The nonlinear free surface condition in the chamber was derived to represent the pneumatic pressure owing to the wave column motion and viscous energy loss at the chamber entrance. The free surface elevations in the sloped chamber were calculated at various incident wave periods. For verification, the results were compared with the 1:20 scaled model test. The maximum wave energy extraction was estimated with a pneumatic damping coefficient. To calculate the energy extraction of the actual size WEC, OWC models approximately 20 times larger than the scale model were calculated, and the viscous damping coefficient according to each size was predicted and applied. It was verified that the energy, owing to the airflow in the chamber, increased as the incident wave period increased, and the maximum efficiency of energy extraction was approximately 40% of the incident wave energy. Under the given incident wave conditions, the maximum extractable wave power at a chamber length of 5 m and a skirt draft of 2 m was approximately 4.59 kW/m.

Full width half maximum (FWHM) analysis of superimposed terahertz (THz) signals in the glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) was studied to detect fine delamination inside GFRP. The THz signals were measured for each fine delamination size inside the GFRP using the reflection mode of the terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system. Then, the FWHM of the superimposed THz signal reflected at the fine delamination was extracted. Thereafter, the complex refractive index of the GFRP was measured using transmission mode of the THzTDS system. Based on this, the FWHM of the superimposed THz signal at the fine delamination were calculated and compared with respect to the fine delamination size. From the theoretically calculated superimposed signals, the relationship between the fine delamination size and the FWHM in the superimposed THz signal was derived. Consequently, the fine delamination size could be predicted through the analysis of the FWHM extracted from the THz signal at the fine delamination.
In a nonlinear site response analysis which is performed in time domain, small strain damping is modeled as viscous damping through use of various forms of Rayleigh damping formulations. Small strain damping of soil is known to be independent of the loading frequency, but the viscous damping is greatly influenced by the loading frequency. The type of Rayleigh damping formulation has a pronounced influence on the dependence. This paper performs a series of nonlinear analyses to evaluate the degree of influence of the viscous damping formulation on Korean soil profiles. Analyses highlight the strong influence of the viscous damping formulation for soil profiles exceeding 30 m in thickness, commonly used in simplified Rayleigh damping formulation overestimating energy dissipation at high frequencies due to artificially introduced damping. When using the full Rayleigh damping formulation and carefully selecting the optimum modes, the artificial damping is greatly reduced. Results are further compared to equivalent linear analyses. The equivalent linear analyses can overestimate the peak ground acceleration even for shallow profiles less than 20 m in thickness.

In this study, twenty-five yeast strains were isolated from soil samples collected in the gold mining ore in Gia Lai, Vietnam. Among them, one isolate named GL1T could highly tolerate Cu2+ up to 10 mM, and the isolates could also grow in a wide range of pH (3-7), and temperature (10-40 ℃). Dried biomass of GL1 was able to remove Cu2+ effectively up to 90.49% with a maximal biosorption capacity of 18.1 mg/g at pH 6, temperature 30 ℃, and incubation time 60 min. Sequence analysis of rDNA indicated this strain was closely related to Rhodotorula mucilaginosa but with 1.53 and 3.46% nucleotide differences in the D1/D2 domain of the 28S rRNA gene and the ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2 region sequence, respectively. Based on phylogenetic tree analysis and the biochemical characteristics, the strain appears to be a novel Rhodotorula species, and the name Rhodotorula aurum sp. nov. is proposed. This study provides us with more information about heavy metal-tolerant yeasts and it may produce a new tool for environmental control and metal recovery operations.

Fiber optic sensor using fiber Bragg grating(FBG) probes is used for monitoring strain and temperature distributed on the wide surfaces of large structures. In this paper, in order to use many FBG probes in one optical fiber line, we propose a complex multiplexing technology which is composed of two techniques, one is time division multiplexing and another is wavelength division multiplexing. However, we only investigate the characteristics of time division multiplexing because FBG sensors basically can be operated by wavelength division multiplexing. We calculate the optimal reflectivities and the lengthwise location of five FBG probes in serial connection in order to obtain the unique reflected intensities from the FBG probes. We fabricate five FBG probes with the reflectivities of 13%, 16%, 25%, 40% and 80%, which are determined by the theoretical calculation, and observe the signal reflected from each FBG in the time domain from the experiment. There are differences between experimental and theoretical results caused by the signal noise and the differences of reflectivities of FBG probes. But the experimental results shows the reflected signals of five FBG probes which prove the availability of complex multiplexing.

Background: Plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1), an important regulator of plasminogen activator system which controls degradation of extracellular membrane and progression of tumor cells, and PAI-1 gene polymorphic variants have been known as the prognostic biomarkers of non-small cell lung cancer patients. Recently, experimental in vitro study revealed that transforming growth factor-${\beta}1$ initiated PAI-1 transcription through epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway. However, there is little clinical evidence on the association between PAI-1 A15T gene polymorphism and prognosis of Korean population with pulmonary adenocarcinoma and the influence of activating mutation of EGFR kinase domain. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 171 patients who were diagnosed with pulmonary adenocarcinoma and undergone EGFR mutation analysis from 1995 through 2009. Results: In all patients with pulmonary adenocarcinoma, there was no significant association between PAI-1 A15T polymorphic variants and prognosis for overall survival. However, further subgroup analysis showed that the group with AG/AA genotype had a shorter 3-year survival time than the group with GG genotype in patients with EGFR mutant-type pulmonary adenocarcinoma (mean survival time, 24.9 months vs. 32.5 months, respectively; p=0.015). In multivariate analysis of 3-year survival for patients with pulmonary adenocarcinoma harboring mutant-type EGFR, the AG/AA genotype carriers had poorer prognosis than the GG genotype carriers (hazard ratio, 7.729; 95% confidence interval, 1.414-42.250; p=0.018). Conclusion: According to our study of Korean population with pulmonary adenocarcinoma, AG/AA genotype of PAI-1 A15T would be a significant predictor of poor short-term survival in patients with pulmonary adenocarcinoma harboring mutant-type EGFR.

In recent years, mobile devices have become increasingly multi-functional and high performance, resulting in a dramatical increase in processing speed. On the other hand, the size of device is reduced, circuits inside the device are more easily exposed to electromagnetic interference radiated from antenna or adjacent circuits, degrading the system performance. To prevent this, it is necessary to design the device considering the electromagnetic characteristics with EM simulation at the design stage of product. However, the EM simulation takes a long analysis time and require high-level system resources for fast analysis. In this paper, an equivalent circuit modeling method for a round wire is proposed using a PEEC method and the electromagnetic coupling from a dipole antenna to a transmission line is analyzed in frequency domain. And compared with the result of electromagnetic simulator. As a result, PEEC method shows good agreement with those of electromagnetic simulation, in a much more short time.
