This paper presents a new, three-dimensional round-robin scheduler that provides high throughput and fair across in an advanced input-queued packet switch using shared input buffers. We consider an architecture in which each input port group shares a common buffer and maintains a separate queue for each output, which is ratted the distributed common input buffer switch. In an NxN switch, our scheduler determines which queue in the total MxN input queues is served during each time slot where M is the number of common buffers. We suppose that each common buffer has K input ports and K output ports, and manages N output queues. The 3DRR scheduler determines MxK queues in every K(M) cycle when $K\geq$M (K$\leq$M), and provides massively parallel processing for the applications of high-speed switches with a large number of ports. The 3-DRR scheduler can be implemented using duplicated simple logic components allowing very high-speed implementation.

The effect of spreading gain control on the throughput of a CDMA slotted ALOHA system is considered. Mobile users transmit packets over a shared channel, and the packets transmitted in the same time slot over the shared channel act as simultaneous access interference (SAI). When using spread-spectrum signal, a CDMA slotted ALOHA channel achieves high probability of capture due to the property of high title resolution, and the bit rate of user information is determined by spreading gain. When the SAI level gets larger, the high value of spreading gain enhances the packet throughput by increasing the probability of a successful packet transmission, while it degrades the of the effective throughput by reducing the user information bits carried within a packer. To solve the problem, we investigated the effect of the capture probability and the SAI level on these system throughputs, and evaluated the throughput performance of the system for each spreading gain control scheme. The results showed that the maximum effective throughput could be achieved with an unified method despite the variation of the SAI level by deriving an optimal value of the spreading gain according to 171e system states.

In this paper, we propose a fast cell search algorithm keeping compatible with the standard cell search algorithm of the WCDMA system. The proposed algorithm can acquire the synchronization of slot and frame times, and the code group identification using only one synchronization channel while the standard algorithm employs two synchronization channels called P-SCH and S-SCH. The proposed synchronization channel structure is the same as the P-SCH structure of the WCDMA system. However, the P-SCH is modulated with a specific polarization code, which is one element of new code group codes. The proposed algorithm can reduce both the BS' transmission power and the complexity of receiver as compared with the conventional one since only on synchronization channel is used. It is shown through the computer simulation that the proposed algorithm yields a significant improvement in terms of cell search time compared with the standard especially in low SNR environments.

In this paper, multiple-relay cooperative communication network with multiple antennas is considered. Applying the soft-decision-and-forward protocol to this system, pairwise error probability(PEP) is derived and then symbol error rate(SER) is also calculated. However, in general, signals are transmitted through the orthogonal channel in the multiple-relay cooperative communication network for the prevention of interference, which is inefficient in terms of the throughput. For the improvement of throughput, the relay selection is considered, where the relay having the maximum instantaneous end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio is chosen. Performance of the system is analyzed in terms of PEP and SER. As the number of the relay increases, relay selection method outperforms the conventional multiple-relay transmission system where all relays participate in the second time slot.

In this paper, we propose networked airborne relay-based positioning scheme (N-ARPS) based on time division multiple access (TDMA) networks to improve the performance of relative navigation (RelNav). To integrate the ARPS into TDMA, there are three problems such as slot allocation, selection of airborne relays, and method for signal loss to be solved. A subframe of N-ARPS is designed to assign the slots for broadcast and relay of navigation signals consecutively to minimize the effect of mobility. The selection algorithm determines the optimum set of airborne relays by selecting evenly distributed nodes depending on their distances to the master station. Finally, we uses precise position location information (PPLI) messages, which are received in data transmission period, to estimate a user position when the navigation signals are missing. The simulation results indicate that N-ARPS significantly improves user accuracy over RelNav.
Retention relative times(RRTs) of PAH molecules and their derivatives in gas chromatography are trained and predicted in testing sets using a multiple linear regression(MLR) and an artificial neural network(ANN). The main descriptors of PAHs and their derivatives in QSRR are the square root of molecular weight(sqmw), molecular connectivity($^1{\chi}_v$), molecular dipole moment(D) and length-to-breadth ratios(L/B). The results of MLR shows that a heavy molecule has a propensity for long retention time. L/B closely related with slot model is a good descriptor in MLR. On the other hand, ANN which is not effected by the linear dependencies among the descriptors were exclusively based on molecular weight and molecular dipole moment. The variances which shows the accuracy of prediction for retention times in testing sets are 1.860, 0.206 for MLR and ANN, respectively. It was shown that ANN can exceed the MLR in prediction accuracy.

In this paper, CDMA Reservation ALOHA scheme which can reduce multiple access interference and packet collision is proposed to support multi-traffic such as voice and random data with and without priority. In this scheme, the time slot is divided into two stage, access and transmission stage. Only packets with spreading codes assigned from base station in access stage can transmit their packets in transmission stage, so MAI can be reduced. To reduce packer collision in access stage, the code reservation and access permission probability are used. Code reservation is allowed for voice traffic and continuous traffic with priority using piggyback and access permission probability based on the estimation of the number of contending users in the steady-state is adaptively applied to each traffic terminal. Also, we analyzed and simulated the numerical performances required for each traffic using Markov chain modeling in a single cell environment.

Considering the tradeoff between energy consumption and outage behavior in buffer-aided relay selection, a novel energy-efficient buffer-aided optimal relay selection scheme with power adaptation and Inter-Relay Interference (IRI) cancellation is proposed. In the proposed scheme, energy consumption minimization is the objective with the consideration of relay buffer state, outage probability and relay power control, in order to eliminate IRI. The proposed scheme selects a pair of optimal relays from multiple candidate relays, denoted as optimal receive relay and optimal transmit relay respectively. Source-relay and relay-destination communications can be performed within a time-slot, which performs as Full-Duplex (FD) relaying. Markov chain model is applied to analyze the evolution of relay buffer states. System steady state outage probability and achievable diversity order are derived respectively. In addition, packet transmission delay and power reduction performance are investigated with a specific analysis. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme outperforms other relay selection schemes in terms of outage behavior with power adaptation and IRI cancellation in the same relay number and buffer size scenario. Compared with Buffer State relay selection method, the proposed scheme reduces transmission delay significantly with the same amount of relays. Average transmit power reduction can be implemented to relays with the increasing of relay number and buffer size, which realizes the tradeoff between energy-efficiency, outage behavior and delay performance in green cooperative communications.
This study aimed to investigate the preferences for the particular menu depend upon a purpose of the events and a time slot. The study set the 16 imaginary profile of 5 selective attributes by using Conjoint Analysis for the customers who ate out at the grilled beef restaurant. The result showed that most significant factors of preference were a sirloin, Korean beef, a traditional interior design, a rice menu and the amount of marbling, in that order. In addition, the study revealed a high level of relative importance depend on the parts of meat cuts and the most preferred factor of the general customers was a sirloin in selective attributes. Next, the country of origin was important. All events showed the highest preference in the parts of meat cuts like the whole consumer group and there was a high partial value in sirloin for the purpose of the events. However, the prime ribs showed a higher level of relative importance when the customers had light meals or they participated in conferences. At the preference analysis of the important attributes and the level of partial value, the most significant factors were a sirloin, a country of origin, a traditional interior design, a rice menu, and the amount of marbling, in that order both in lunch and dinner. In addition, the study found that the parts of meat, the atmosphere in the restaurant, the quality of beef, dessert, and the country of origin were significant in order at relative importance.

In bluetooth system, there are two kinds of interference. One is the frequency static interference, for example 802.11 direct sequence, the interferer uses fixed frequency band. Another is frequency dynamic interference, for example other piconets or 802.11 frequency hopping, the interferer uses dynamic frequency channel and cant be estimated. In this paper we introduce a novel solution of hybrid method of Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) and Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) to address the coexistence of bluetooth and Direct Sequence of wireless local area network (WLAN). Before any bluetooth packet transmission, in the turn around time of the current slot, both the sender and receiver sense the channel whether there is any transmission going on or not. If the channel is busy, packet transmission is withdrawn until another chance. This is the LBT in Bluetooth. Because of asymmetry sense ability of WLAN and bluetooth, AFH is introduced to combat the left front-edge packet collisions. In monitor period of AFH, LBT is performed to label the channels with static interference. Then, all the labeled noisy channels are not used in the followed bluetooth frequency hopping. In this way, both the frequency dynamic and frequency static interference are effectively mitigated. We evaluate the solution through packet collision analysis and a detail realistic simulation with IP traffic. It turns out that the hybrid method can combat both the frequency dynamic and frequency static interference. The packet collision analysis shows it almost doubles the maximal system aggregate throughput. The realistic simulation shows it has the least packet loss.
