A Study of Fuel Reduction Driving Pattern on Diesel Locomotives (연료절감운전 패턴 연구)

  • It is very often for the experienced diesel locomotive drivers to identify the proper replacing time for the fuel adjustment tube only based on their experience. Because of that, sometimes the locomotive's fuel is burned out due to the unnecessary torque. Or sometimes, the locomotive does not operate with its accelerating performance because the fuel is not supplied at the appropriate moment. Meanwhile, recent typical auto vehicles provide drivers with the average fuel efficiency and the instant fuel efficiency in real-time. By providing the real time display mentioned above, it is one of the good examples that those drivers, who had driven their cars not properly and used a lot of fuel with their bad driving habits, obtain the efficient driving pattern by continuous educating effect. Similarly, if the diesel locomotive provides the train driver with the optimal driving pattern within a certain driving section, it will be effective for fuel saving. It is possible to make the most effective driving pattern by performing the repeated trial running especially for the railway because the track's operating routes, its grades, and etc are relatively precise. This research analyzes the result data which was obtained by many times trial running on the identical section after equipping the fuel use measuring device to a certain test vehicle, and confirms the fuel saving effect depending on the driving pattern along the test section. At the same time, the research to establish the optimal driving pattern was progressed.

A Study on Feature Projection Methods for a Real-Time EMG Pattern Recognition (실시간 근전도 패턴인식을 위한 특징투영 기법에 관한 연구)

  • EMG pattern recognition is essential for the control of a multifunction myoelectric hand. The main goal of this study is to develop an efficient feature projection method for EMC pattern recognition. To this end, we propose a linear supervised feature projection that utilizes linear discriminant analysis (LDA). We first perform wavelet packet transform (WPT) to extract the feature vector from four channel EMC signals. For dimensionality reduction and clustering of the WPT features, the LDA incorporates class information into the learning procedure, and finds a linear matrix to maximize the class separability for the projected features. Finally, the multilayer perceptron classifies the LDA-reduced features into nine hand motions. To evaluate the performance of LDA for the WPT features, we compare LDA with three other feature projection methods. From a visualization and quantitative comparison, we show that LDA has better performance for the class separability, and the LDA-projected features improve the classification accuracy with a short processing time. We implemented a real-time pattern recognition system for a multifunction myoelectric hand. In experiment, we show that the proposed method achieves 97.2% recognition accuracy, and that all processes, including the generation of control commands for myoelectric hand, are completed within 97 msec. These results confirm that our method is applicable to real-time EMG pattern recognition far myoelectric hand control.

An Analysis of the Using Pattern of Leisure Time for Elderly (노인의 여가생활시간 소비패턴분석)

  • This study analyze using pattern of the Korean elderly leisure time to know their leisure lifestyle. In order to do this study, we analysed the time use dairy which were collected by Korean National Statistical Office in 1999 and analysis of data was done through mean of time, percentage of acting people hourly. The result of this study were as follows : 1) The elderly spend leisure time average 6 hours 34 minute in a day and enjoy leisure activities from A.M. 11:00 to P.M. 12:00 and from P.M. 8:00 to P.M:. 10:00 mainly. 2) The elderly spend leisure time for acquaintance, using mass media, sports leisure activity and dilettante life. Especially the elderly associate with more others than their family, use more TV than others and spend time for break and amusement as dilettante life.

  • Bus Information System (BIS) collects information related to the operation of buses and provides information to users through predictive algorithms. Method of predicting through recent information in same section reflects the traffic situation of the section, but cannot reflect the characteristics of the target line. The method of predicting the historical data at the same time zone is limited in forecasting peak time with high volatility of traffic flow. Therefore, we developed a pattern recognition bus arrival time prediction algorithm which could be overcome previous limitation. This method recognize the traffic pattern of target flow and select the most similar past traffic pattern. The results of this study were compared with the BIS arrival forecast information history of Seoul. RMSE of travel time between estimated and observed was approximately 35 seconds (40 seconds in BIS) at the off-peak time and 40 seconds (60 seconds in BIS) at the peak time. This means that there is data that can represent the current traffic situation in other time zones except for the same past time zone.

Associations between dietary patterns and screen time among Korean adolescents

  • Data are limited on the association between dietary patterns and screen time among Korean adolescents. The present study identified dietary patterns of 691 adolescents, aged 13-18 years, who had participated in the Third Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES III) and analyzed their associations with screen time. Screen time was defined as the time spent watching TV, using a computer, or playing video games was calculated as a sum of all these times. Dietary patterns and their factor scores were derived from a food frequency questionnaire using the factor analysis method. To analyze the association between dietary patterns and screen time, we conducted multiple linear regression analysis. We also performed multiple logistic regression analysis to estimate odds ratios (OR) of excessive screen time (2 hours or longer per day) and 95% confidence intervals (CI). We identified 2 dietary patterns labeled "the Korean healthy dietary pattern" and "the Western diet and fast foods pattern". The former included mixed grains, legumes, potatoes, red meat, eggs, fish, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, seaweeds, and mushrooms, whereas the latter included noodles, bread, red meat, poultry, fast foods, snack, and soft drinks. After controlling for potential confounding factors, factor scores for the Korean healthy dietary pattern were inversely associated (P-value for trend < 0.01) and those for the Western diet and fast foods pattern were positively associated with the screen time (P-value for trend < 0.01). Adolescents in the top tertile of the scores for the Korean healthy dietary pattern had a multivariable-adjusted OR [95% CI] of 0.44 (0.25-0.75) for excessive screen time compared with those in the lowest tertile. On the basis of these findings, adolescents who have excessive screen time may need to be encouraged to consume a more healthy diet.

  • Nowadays, Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry is a well-established measuring technique with a wide range of industrial applications, particularly in the fields of deformation measurement and vibration analysis. Comparing with holographic interferometry, it has some attractive features, which are rapid recording and reconstruction, satisfiable automation etc. The Time-Average ESPI is used to provide vibration mode shape of an object whose vibration amplitude is given as a fringe pattern. Its merit is rapid and simple measurement for vibrating object. However, it is not possible to determine the direction of motions of a point on the object at any given time, because it does not give any information about the phase of vibration. But, Stroboscopic ESPI can measure the amplitude and phase of vibrating surface. In this paper, loudspeakers were tested by these two methods. As a result, we can assume that these techniques will be applied directly in the loudspeaker industry.

  • The purpose of this study is to make effective mobile grid considered general environment, which can be summarized as irregular mobility, service exploration, data sharing, variety of machines, limit to the battery duration, etc. The data was extracted from the Dartmouth College. We analysed mobile use pattern of a specific group and applied pattern using hybrid method. As a result, we could adjust infra usage effectively and appropriately and cost cutting and increase satisfaction of user. In this study, by applying weighting method based on access time interval, we analysed use pattern added time variation with association rule during users in mobile grid environment. We proposed more stable way to manage patterns in a mobile grid environment that is being used as a hybrid form to process the data value received from the server in real time. Further studies are needed to get appropriate use pattern by group using use patterns of various groups.

Correlations of Deficiency and Excess Patterns between Menstrual Symptoms and Whole Body Symptoms (월경통(月經痛) 증후(證候)와 전신 증후(全身 證候)의 허실(虛實) 상호 관련성 연구)

  • Purpose: Dysmenorrhea mostly depends on the causative factor, which usually falls under the categories of Deficiency and Excess pattern in traditional Oriental medical theories and diagnosis. Thus, we investigated menstruation symptom and sign related to dysmenorrhea and verified the validity of Deficiency and Excess pattern identification. Methods: We investigated menstruation symptom and sign related to dysmenorrhea in total 14 gynecology-medical books including the book ${\ll}$Exemplar Of Korean Medicine (Dongui Bogam)${\gg}$ and whole body symptom and sign identifying Deficiency and Excess pattern at the same time. A survey based on this investigation was carried out targeting women of childbearing age. Results: Total of 14 gynecology-medical books have mostly narrated pre-menstrual and mid & post-menstrual pelvic pain depending on the time of its manifestation for identifying Deficiency and Excess pattern. Dysmenorrhea in pre-menstrual period belonged to Excess pattern and dysmenorrhea in mid & post-menstrual period belonged to Deficiency pattern. Among a total of 343 women, 196 subjects suffered from dysmenorrhea. The number of dysmenorrhea in pre-menstrual period (Excess pattern) was 116 people and in mid & post-menstrual period (Deficiency pattern) was 80 people. Deficiency and Excess pattern of dysmenorrhea in menstrual period significantly correlated to Deficiency and Excess pattern of whole body symptom and sign in the statistics(P-value < 0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that pre-menstrual and mid & post-menstrual pelvic pain depending on the time of its manifestation is preferentially utilized as symptom and sign related to dysmenorrhea identifying Deficiency and Excess pattern.

  • Rapid economic development has led seafood consumption to its quality - oriented pattern as well as consumer's in China. This study concerns about The First, China is Seafood development background. The Second, China become emboldened seafood causes. The third, seafood consumption has characteristic. The fourth, seafood consumption has the organization of society. The study shows that there are economic developmental periods Chinas has three time. The First time$(1961\sim1983)$ is rapid growth. The Second time$(1984\sim1998)$ is growth accumulate. The third time$(1999\sim)$ is changing on seafood consumption as the consumption of seafood is changed according to economic variables changes in income, price, tastes and population. This changing pattern of seafood consumption is based on economic variables appears toward luxury and convenience seafoods. Consumption of food is also affected by non - economic variables. The most typical non - economic variables leading to changes of seafood consumption is local, seafood culture, $et{\ldots}$ Recently seafood consumption pattern shows that consumers paying more money to get their seafood preference for pursuing its hight growth and varienty.
