QoSCM: QoS-aware Coded Multicast Approach for Wireless Networks

  • It is essential to satisfy class-specific QoS constraints to provide broadband services for new generation networks. The present study proposes a QoS-driven multicast scheme for wireless networks in which the transmission rate and end-to-end delay are assumed to be bounded during a multiple multicast session. A distributed algorithm was used to identify a cost-efficient sub-graph between the source and destination which can satisfy QoS constraints of a multicast session. The model was then modified as to be applied for wireless networks in which satisfying interference constraints is the main challenge. A discrete power control scheme was also applied for the QoS-aware multicast model to accommodate the effect of transmission power level based on link capacity requirements. We also proposed random power allocation (RPA) and gradient power allocation (GPA) algorithms to efficient resource distribution each of which has different time complexity and optimality levels. Experimental results confirm that the proposed power allocation techniques decrease the number of unavailable links between intermediate nodes in the sub-graph and considerably increase the chance of finding an optimal solution.

  • 본 연구에서는 정보통신기술을 활용한 미래전 개념인 네트워크 중심전 수행에 있어서 가장 보편적으로 쓰이고 있는 Link-16의 기술적 요소들을 물리계층, 데이터링크 계층, 응용계층 (전술메시지교환) 측면에서 검토하고 작전운용 측면에서 Link-16 만의 장점과 한계점을 도출해 보기로 한다. 또한 Link-16의 타임슬롯 구조, NPG 개념, 멀티네팅 개념을 기반으로 주요 작전을 수행하는 데 있어서 Link-16이 갖는 통신용량이 과연 충분한지 정량적 분석을 수행한다. 이러한 연구결과는 향후 Link-16의 국내도입에 있어서 타당성 검토를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 연구는 시간 제약조건을 가지는 차량 경로 탐색과 스케줄링 문제(VRSPTW, the Vehicle Routing and Scheduling Problem with Time Window)를 해결하기 위하여, 기회시간(Opportunity time)을 반영한 하이브리드 휴리스틱을 제안하였다. 기회시간은 각 고객 노드에서 요구하는 하역 서비스를 수행 한 뒤에도 남아 있는 여유시간이다. 제안된 휴리스틱은 기회시간에 대한 제약조건을 추가하고, 기회시간을 고려한 비용 평가함수를 삽입 전략에 적용함으로써 초기 해를 구하였다. 또한 고객 노드 교환에 의한 타부 탐색 전략에도 기회시간을 반영함으로써 해를 개선 시켰다. 마지막으로 지리적, 시간적, 용량적으로 다양한 데이터 유형들에 대하여 각각 효과적으로 최적 해를 구할 수 있는 초기 경로 생성 전략들을 소개하고 비교하였다. 본 연구의 실험에서는 제안된 휴리스틱이 Solomon I1 휴리스틱 보다 효율적으로 최근사 해를 얻을 수 있음을 보였다.

시간제약이 있는 상금 획득 외판원 문제에 대한 동적 계획 접근 방법 (Dynamic Programming Approach for Prize Colleting Travelling Salesman Problem with Time Windows)

  • This paper introduces one type of prize collecting travelling salesman problem with time windows (PCTSPTW), proposes a mixed integer programming model for the problem, and shows that the problem can be reduced to the elementary shortest path problem with time windows and capacity constraints (ESPPTC). Then, a new dynamic programming algorithm is proposed to solve ESPPTC quickly. Computational results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • Many algorithms to enhance a speed performance of a robot have been studied, but it's rare to consider disign aspect of a robot arm for time optimal problem. In this paper, section demensions of a robot arm and a velocity profile of an end-effector were optimally designed to minimize the cycle time. Capacity of actuators, deflections of end-effector, and a fundamental natural frequency of the robot arm were constrained in optimal design. For a given path with a trapezoidal velocity profile, torques of each joint were calculated using the inverse kinematics and dynamics. For the SCARA type robot which is mainly used for assembly tasks, the time optimal design of each robot arm id presented with the above constraints.

발전설비확장계획에서 다중대안 리트로핏 모형화 방안 및 사례연구 (Multi-alternative Retrofit Modelling and its Application to Korean Generation Capacity Expansion Planning)

  • Purpose Retrofit, defined to be addition of new technologies or features to the old system to increase efficiency or to abate GHG emissions, is considered as an important alternative for the old coal-fired power plant. The purpose of this study is to propose mathematical method to model multiple alternative retrofit in Generation Capacity Expansion Planning(GCEP) problem, and to get insight to the retrofit patterns from realistic case studies. Design/methodology/approach This study made a multi-alternative retrofit GECP model by adopting some new variables and equations to the existing GECP model. Added variables and equations are to ensure the retrofit feature that the life time of retrofitted plant is the remaining life time of the old power plant. We formulated such that multiple retrofit alternatives are simultaneously compared and the best retrofit alternative can be selected. And we found that old approach to model retrofit has a problem that old plant with long remaining life time is retrofitted earlier than the one with short remaining life time, fixed the problem by some constraints with some binary variables. Therefore, the proposed model is formulated into a mixed binary programming problem, and coded and run using the GAMS/cplex. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, we found that approach to model the multiple alternative retrofit proposed in this study is comparing simultaneously multiple retrofit alternatives and select the best retrofit satisfying the retrofit features related to the life time. And we found that retrofit order problem is cleared. In addition, the model is expected to be very useful in evaluating and developing the national policies concerning coal-fired power plant retrofit.

  • Leading companies have embraced the new economy with new and innovative BTO models. Instead of conventional company-oriented manufacturing scheduling, customer-oriented scheduling method attracts more and more attention. To evaluate the delivery of customer order in advance, the real production capacity as well as procurement lead time should be taken into account. This paper describes a quasi-real-time order delivery estimation system using TOC(Theory of Constraints) based scheduling method.

  • The primary role of MRP(Material Requirement Planning) is to make a production plan so that we have an exact quantity of right materials on needed time at right place. But the ignorance on capacity constraints makes some problems whenever production schedule is established. To increase the performance of MRP system, a novel approach which is based on new input data structure is suggested. The new input data structure includes all the information about Material BOM, Routing and resource data so that we can easily examine the usage of resources and generate higher performance production plans.

우선순위 지향 검색 및 적응형 버퍼관리에 의한 비디오 저장시스템 (Video Storage System based on Priority-Oriented Retrieval and Adapted Buffer Management)

  • 비디오서버는 비디오스트림들을 저장하고 있다가 시간제약사항을 만족시키면서 보다 많은 사용자들에게 보다 신속하게 전송, 서비스할 수 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 비디오서버에 서 빠른 응답을 유지할 뿐만 아니라 비디오스트림의 시간제약사항을 만족시키면서 지원할 수 있는 사용자들의 수를 증가시킬 수 있는 저장시스템을 제안한다. 다중 디스크환경하의 저장시스템에서 다중 비디오스트림들을 검색할 때 각 스트림들의 세그먼트들을 우선순위에 기반하여 읽음으로써 빠른 응답을 유지할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 디스크 대역폭을 절약할 수 있다. 또한, 주어진 버퍼 용량과 디스크 대역폭을 고려하면서 스트림의 세그먼트 크기를 휴리스틱하게 결정하여 버퍼를 효율적으로 활용함으로써 지원할 수 있는 사용자들의 수를 증가시킬 수 있다. 새로운 저장시스템에 대한 타당성은 이론적으로 분석되고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 평가된다.

A 3-D Genetic Algorithm for Finding the Number of Vehicles in VRPTW

  • The problem to be studied here is the minimization of the total travel distance and the number of vehicles used for delivering goods to customers. Vehicle routes must also satisfy a variety of constraints such as fixed vehicle capacity, allowed operating time. Genetic algorithm to solve the VRPTW with heterogeneous fleet is presented. The chromosome of the proposed GA in this study has the 3-dimension. We propose GA that has the cubic-chromosome for VRPTW with heterogeneous fleet. The newly suggested ‘Cubic-GA (or 3-D GA)’ in this paper means the 2-D GA with GLS(Genetic Local Search) algorithms and is quite flexible. To evaluate the performance of the algorithm, we apply it to the Solomon's VRPTW instances. It produces a set of good routes and the reasonable number of vehicles.
