Spatial structures have the different dynamic characteristics from general rahmen structures. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately analyze dynamic characteristics and seismic response for seismic design of spatial structure. Keel arch structure is used as an example structure because it has primary characteristics of spatial structures. In case of spatial structures with different ground condition and time lag, multiple support excitation may be subjected to supports of a keel arch structure. In this study, the response of the keel arch structure under multiple support excitation and with time lag are analyzed by means of the pseudo excitation method. Pseudo excitation method shows that the structural response is divided into two parts, ground displacement and structural dynamic response due to ground motion excitation. It is known that the seismic responses of spatial structure under multiple support excitation are different from those of spatial structure under simple excitation. And the seismic response of spatial structure with time lag are different from those of spatial structure without time lag. Therefore, it has to be necessary to analyze the seismic response of spatial structure under multiple support excitation and time lag because the spatial structure supports may be different and very long span. It is shown that the seismic response of spatial structure under multiple support seismic excitation are different from those of spatial structure under unique excitation.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure of time use by housewives in rural households, and to compare the time use structure of housewives with that of their husbands. To attain this goals, we have selected 108 farmhouses considering agricultural area and size in L993. Data was collected by observing how (i. e., doing what kinds of work) housewives and husbands spend time, Time use was divided into four categories : physiological time, socio-cultural time, household work time and agricultural labor time. The results in this study present a valuable insight to assuage the overloaded works of rural housewives. The major results can be outlined as follows : 1. Rural housewives worked 1.2 times longer hours a day than their husbands did. 2, There existed a severe labour time imbalance between housewives and husbands during the busy farming season. 3. The time use patterns of housewives and husbands were significantly different across agricultural areas. Also, the education level of a housewife was associated with the length of her labor time.
Robust stability conditions for discrete-time variable structure control is proposed. Conventionally the discrete-time variable structure control method with a variable structure uncertainty compensator approach requires a bounded changing rate of the uncertainties to ensure robust stability. However, when uncertainties vary as a function of state variables, which occur with parametric uncertainties, it is not reasonable to assume a bounded variation on the uncertainties. In this paper, uncertainties are assumed to consist of exogenous disturbances and parametric uncertainties. An uncertainty compensator is used to deal with the former, and a robust stability condition is derived using Small Gain Theorem for the latter.
When a building structure requires both health monitoring system and vibration control system, integrating the two systems together will be cost-effective and beneficial for creating a smart building structure with its own sensors (nervous system), processors (brain system), and actuators (muscular system). This paper presents a real-time integrated procedure to demonstrate how health monitoring and vibration control can be integrated in real time to accurately identify time-varying structural parameters and unknown excitations on one hand, and to optimally mitigate excessive vibration of the building structure on the other hand. The basic equations for the identification of time-varying structural parameters and unknown excitations of a semi-active damper-controlled building structure are first presented. The basic equations for semi-active vibration control of the building structure with time-varying structural parameters and unknown excitations are then put forward. The numerical algorithm is finally followed to show how the identification and the control can be performed simultaneously. The results from the numerical investigation of an example building demonstrate that the proposed method is feasible and accurate.
Purpose - The existing marketing studies using Social Network Analysis have assumed that network structure variables are time-invariant. However, a node's network position can fluctuate considerably over time and the node's network structure can be changed dynamically. Hence, if such a dynamic structural network characteristics are not specified for virtual goods purchase model, estimated parameters can be biased. In this paper, by comparing a time-invariant network structure specification model(base model) and time-varying network specification model(proposed model), the authors intend to prove whether the proposed model is superior to the base model. In addition, the authors also intend to investigate whether coefficients of network structure variables are random over time. Research design, data, and methodology - The data of this study are obtained from a Korean social network provider. The authors construct a monthly panel data by calculating the raw data. To fit the panel data, the authors derive random effects panel tobit model and multi-level mixed effects model. Results - First, the proposed model is better than that of the base model in terms of performance. Second, except for constraint, multi-level mixed effects models with random coefficient of every network structure variable(in-degree, out-degree, in-closeness centrality, out-closeness centrality, clustering coefficient) perform better than not random coefficient specification model. Conclusion - The size and importance of virtual goods market has been dramatically increasing. Notwithstanding such a strategic importance of virtual goods, there is little research on social influential factors which impact the intention of virtual good purchase. Even studies which investigated social influence factors have assumed that social network structure variables are time-invariant. However, the authors show that network structure variables are time-variant and coefficients of network structure variables are random over time. Thus, virtual goods purchase model with dynamic network structure variables performs better than that with static network structure model. Hence, if marketing practitioners intend to use social influences to sell virtual goods in social media, they had better consider time-varying social influences of network members. In addition, this study can be also differentiated from other related researches using survey data in that this study deals with actual field data.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate an effect of ground vibration caused by blasting on the concrete brick structure. For the purpose, dynamic response time-history of the structure assumed single degree of freedom (SDOF) system and vibration time-history directly measured from the structure were examined, using Newmark $\beta$ method based on data measured at ground. The time-history was interpreted from the measured data of ground and structure in single hole blasting. Vibration magnitude between ground vibration and structure in single hole blasting and 20 ms interval blasting was about three times and was shown larger vibration on the structure. By time-history analysis of structure dynamic response, the value was almost the same one with the data measured from the structure. It indicates that the vibration characteristics of structures may be predicted on the basis of the ground vibration data measured from the sub-ground of structure.
An entire composite structure satellite is developing for the first time in Korea. All of the structure is made of CFRP-composite faced aluminum honeycomb sandwich structure. Here the random and sinusoidal spectrum analysis of the satellite was carried out by using the finite element method. The general spectrum analysis was herein performed but also the PSD (power spectrum density) function for random vibration analysis had been transformed into equivalent time domain function and then transient analysis is conducted. The time history of displacement, acceleration, stress and velocity responses with respect to the PSD input has been achieved by the time dependent transient function transformed from frequency PDS function. It enables one to perform dynamic durability analysis and then expect the life time of the composite structure. The composite faced sandwich structure's spectrum analysis of a domestically-developed satellite, STSAT-3, has been discussed in the present study.

In this paper, a discrete-time variable structure control method using recursively defined switching function and a decoupled variable structure disturbance compensator is used to achieve high performance circular motion control of a CNC machining center. The discrete-time variable structure control with the decoupled disturbance compensator method developed in this paper uses a recursive switching function defined as the sum of the current tracking error vector and the previous value of the switching function multiplied by a positive constant less than one. This recursive switching function provides much improved performance compared to the method that uses a switching function defined only as a linear combination of the current tracking error. Enhancements in tracking performance are demonstrated in the circular motion control using a CNC milling machine.
This paper presents the processing of nonlinear features associated with a damage event by quadratic time-frequency distributions for damage identification in a frame structure. A time-frequency distribution is a function which distributes the total energy of a signal at a particular time and frequency point. As the occurrence of damage often gives rise to non-stationary, nonlinear structural behavior, simultaneous representation of the dynamic response in the time-frequency plane offers valuable insight for damage detection. The applicability of the bilinear time-frequency distributions of the Cohen class is examined for the damage assessment of a frame structure from the simulated acceleration data. It is shown that the changes in instantaneous energy of the dynamic response could be a good damage indicator. Presence and location of damage can be identified using Choi-Williams distribution when damping is ignored. However, in the presence of damping the Page distribution is more effective and offers better readability for structural damage detection.
The PVC insulated flexible cords are used mainly as power supply cords of electric appliance. This electric wire is a stranded wire consisted of dozens of strands. In case stranded wires are disconnected by mechanical stress, it weakens electrically. Finally, the over current flows through stranded wires, and electrical fire occurs. In this study, we analyzed the melting properties of strands by over current, such as melting process, melting current and melting time. And we analyzed that quantity of heat for melting, a cross sectional structure, and surface structure by optical microscope and SEM. As analysis results, melting time decreased as melting current increased. And quantity of heat for melting was low, too. From the cross sectional structure of melted wire, when a melting current low and melting time long, it was found that the dendrite structure grew. However, the dendrite structure is hard to grow because growing time is not enough when a melting current high and melting time short.
