Analysis of Impingement Lands to Help Diesel Combustion Chamber Using Spray Impaction (분무충돌을 이용하는 디젤연소실 설계를 위한 충돌면 분석)

  • Most of the research of small engines to date focused on developing spark ignition engines occupied much parts. Recently the number of a small direct injection diesel engine applied in small cars has been increased and considered as a next generation power source for passenger cars because of its high efficiency. Therefore the combustion chamber becomes smaller and the fuel injection pressure goes higher, which makes fuel sprays impinged easily on the combustion chamber walls. When strong swirls are not induced, the fuel may not mix with air because of fuel deposition on the wall. As a positive way, the combustion chamber systems which is using spray wall impaction has been introduced and assessed by an experimental or a simulate manner. In these systems the raised lands are positioned in tile chamber for spray impaction in order to break up the fuel drops into much smaller and direct them into desirable direction. This study addresses to the effects of rho position and size of the raised land or glow plug to help the chamber design using spray wall impaction. The characteristics of the spray impinged on various lands are investigated and compared with each other. Then the chamber shapes are discussed with the characteristics and their proper position and size is proposed in any chamber volume.

Impact Damage of Honeycomb Sandwich Antenna Structures (통신 안테나용 허니콤 샌드위치 구조물의 충격 손상에 관한 연구)

  • The impact response and damage of CLAS panel was investigated experimentally. The facesheet material used was RO4003 woven-glass hydrocarbon/ceramic and the core material was Nomex honeycomb with a cell size of 3.2mm and a density of 96 kg/$\textrm{m}^{3}$. The shield plane used was RO4003 and 2024-T3 aluminum. Static indentation and impact test was conducted to characterize the type and extent of the damage observed in two CLAS panels, and the performance of antenna used in a wireless LAN system. Correlation of peak contact force, residual indentation and the delamination area shows impact damage of the panel with an aluminum shield plane is larger than that of the panel with RO4003 shield plane, although tile former is more penetration resistant. The damage was observed by naked eye, ultrasonic inspection and cross sectioning. The shape and size of delamination was estimated by ultrasonic inspection, and the area of delamination linearly increases as impact energy increases. The performance of impact damaged antenna was estimated by measuring return loss and radiation pattern.

  • Data collections were made from the Seoul five-star hotels'Italian restaurant to set goals on the quantity standardization by bringing up the issues from the analysis of their menus and portions. Brief of this research is as follows. The first, variations of Italian cuisine are significantly different from the region to region. The chef or cook must have general knowledge and understanding, and consider the ingredients and its cooking method. The second, for the understanding of fire Italian menu, languages used for the menu have to be in worldwide understandable languages and for the better understanding of Korean chefs, it should be also described in Korean. The third, for the cost controller and to reduce the cost, all food should be prepared in proper cooking method and set goal for the right portion size. The fourth, menu should be selected based on the customer preferences and the menu cycle change is adequate for four times a year. Italian food and dishes are prepared by above points with the standardized portion size and cooking method, more efficient and uniformed dishes will be provided to customers and customers will be fulfilled with the satisfaction.

  • This study investigated tile local austenite grain size (AGS) distribution In rolling of SCM435 steel which is commonly used for high strength bolt. To investigate AGS distribution, round-oval (R-O) and square-diamond (S-D) rolling experiments were carried out with pilot mill. In round-oval rolling, local AGS has a tendency to increase when it goes to outward. In square-diamond rolling, local AGS has a tendency to increase when it goes to free surface. To investigate relation between AGS and process parameter, three dimensional FE analysis was carried out along with rolling experiment. To validate accuracy of FE analysis, we compared deformed geometry with FE result. The AGS prediction combined AGS model with numerical analysis was also carried out for center node of S-D rolling. Although this study brought experimental observation and its qualitative analysis into focus and quantitative AGS prediction will be done as a further work.

  • Today, apartment is the primary housing type in Korea. In the past, there were many apartment floor plans in the same design way. There have been changes to complex and luxury plans in these days because people want to fit their own needs and wants to the plans. The primary purpose of this study is to analyze interior design trend of medium-large size apartment after year 2000. For that, this study used 7 different construction companies, 13 apartment complexes and 30 unit plan cases which were on sale from April 2007 to April 2008 in Seoul and the Metropolitan area. The results of analysis are as follows: First, most cases had 4LDK and 2bathroom with a dress-room. Second, characteristics of the interior design showed that the variety finish materials used in the units. For wall finish materials, wallpapers were used in mostly regardless in different areas. For floor finish materials, stone and tile were used in similar ratio in the entrance area whereas wood floor mostly was used in living room and kitchen areas. This study shows some significant characteristics of today's apartment even it has some limitations because of small amount of survey cases. More detailed and deeper study will be done continuously.

Witches' broom of jujube tree(Zizyphus jujuba MILL. var. Inermis Rehd.) IV Effect of low temperature in winter upon the appearance of symptom (대추나무 미친병에 관한 연구 IV 동기저온과 병징발현과의 관계)

  • In an experiment to evaluate the various aspects of symptom of witches' broom of jujube tree with two different kinds of scions, taken from diseased plant and stem- grafted upon sound stocks-one cut before wintering(stored in cellar), the other after wintering, it was observed that the disease rate of those cut before wintering(Nov.) was $\98\%$ whereas those cut after wintering(March) showed much lower rate, $3\%$ initially and gradually increased up to $39\%$. In another experiment of diseased bud grafted into healthy seedling, the finding made in the following year was that 14 stocks(only one of which salt union by callusing) were infected out of the given 23- in the initial stage only 4, yet gradually increased to the number of 14. The shoots from the ground portion of the diseased stock were in general more quickly subjected to the disease than the others. Under natural condition, the diseased trees develop at first seemingly the same leaves as healthy ones; it is not until the branches and loaves grow to a considerable degree that the symptom appears. Once appearing, tile disease grows and the symptom continues to appear as late as in Sept. and early Oct., causing tile plant to develop the extraordinary branches and leaves of extremely reduced size, the typical symptom of witches' broom. Such phenomenon can be observed in the experiments of the foregoing paragraphs. And the suckers and roots of diseased plant are bound to be infected, it was found out with no exception. Viewing from the results of the above experiments and observation, it is believed that the low temperature during winter causes the virus in the above-ground portion of diseased plant to diminish or inactivated, and subsequently the virus in the roots moves up or multiply in the sprouting season.

A New Parameter Estimation Method for a Zipf-like Distribution for Geospatial Data Access

  • Many reports have shown that the access pattern for geospatial tiles follows Zipf's law and that its parameter ${\alpha}$ represents the access characteristics. However, visits to geospatial tiles have temporal and spatial popularities, and the ${\alpha}$-value changes as they change. We construct a mathematical model to simulate the user's access behavior by studying the attributes of frequently visited tile objects to determine parameter estimation algorithms. Because the least squares (LS) method in common use cannot obtain an exact ${\alpha}$-value and does not provide a suitable fit to data for frequently visited tiles, we present a new approach, which uses a moment method of estimation to obtain the value of ${\alpha}$ when ${\alpha}$ is close to 1. When ${\alpha}$ is further away from 1, the method uses the associated cache hit ratio for tile access and uses an LS method based on a critical cache size to estimate the value of ${\alpha}$. The decrease in the estimation error is presented and discussed in the section on experiment results. This new method, which provides a more accurate estimate of ${\alpha}$ than earlier methods, promises more effective prediction of requests for frequently accessed tiles for better caching and load balancing.

Object Relationship Modeling based on Bayesian Network Integration for Improving Object Detection Performance of Service Robots (서비스 로봇의 물체 탐색 성능 향상을 위한 베이지안 네트워크 결합 기반 물체 관계 모델링)

  • Recently tile study that exploits visual information for tile services of robot in indoor environments is active. Conventional image processing approaches are based on the pre-defined geometric models, so their performances are likely to decrease when they are applied to the uncertain and dynamic environments. For this, diverse researches to manage the uncertainty based on the knowledge for improving image recognition performance have been doing. In this paper we propose a Bayesian network modeling method for predicting the existence of target objects when they are occluded by other ones for improving the object detection performance of the service robots. The proposed method makes object relationship, so that it allows to predict the target object through observed ones. For this, we define the design method for small size Bayesian networks (primitive Bayesian netqork), and allow to integrate them following to the situations. The experiments are performed for verifying the performance of constructed model, and they shows $82.8\%$ of accuracy in 5 places.

Task-to-Tile Binding Technique for NoC-based Manycore Platform with Multiple Memory Tiles (복수 메모리 타일을 가진 NoC 매니코어 플랫폼에서의 태스크-타일 바인딩 기술)

  • The contention overhead on the same channel in an NoC architecture can significantly increase a communication delay due to the simultaneous communication requests that occur. To reduce the overall overhead, we propose task-to-tile binding techniques for an NoC-based manycore platform, whereby it is assumed that the task mapping decision has already made. Since the NoC architecture may have multiple memory tiles as its size grows, memory clustering is used to balance the load of memory by making applications access different memory tiles. We assume that the information on the communication overhead of each application is known since it is specified in a dataflow task graph. Using this information, this paper proposes two heurisitics that perform binding of multiple tasks at once based on a proper memory clustering method. Experiments with an NoC simulator prove that the proposed heurisitic shows performance gains that are 25% greater than that of the previous binding heuristic.

The Effects of Preoperative Nursing Instruction on tile Physical and Emotional Recovery of Pediatric Surgical Patients - An Experimental Study- (소아의 수술전 환자교육이 신체 및 정서에 미치는 영향)

  • Very few studies regarding the effects of preoperative nursing intervention on children's welfare after surgery have been conducted. The purpose of this study was 1) to evaluate the effects of preoperative nursing instructions on children's physical recovery and emotional state after surgery and 2) to analyse the relationship between the effects of preoperative nursing instructions and the age and general anxiety of child. The study was conducted flow: August 15th to October 30th at Severance Hospital, Seoul, Korea. A total of 41 Pediatric surgical Patients, between the age of 4 to 14, participated in the study. Twenty patients, randomly selected, were visited by the experimenter in the evening before, surgery and received specific preoperative nursing instructions. These instructions were designed to alleviate emotional stress and were adopted to the age of child. The postoperative recovery of these patients were then compared with a randomly selected control group of 21 patients who received only the routine preoperative care by the staff in the hospital Dependent variable were vomiting, pain medication, ability to void, elevation of temperature, infection, the between surgery and hospital discharge and postoperative emotional stress which was measured by the vital signs. Because of the limitation of the sample size it was difficult to obtain valid statistical results. However, the analysis of the raw data indicates that: 1) the preoperative nursing instructions appears to promote physical recovery and it seems especially effective in preventing elevation of temperature and shortening the length of the hospital stay, 2) the preoperative nursing instruction also seems to be effective in relieving the child's emotional stress(situational anxiety) after surgery, 3) the patient's general anxiety level preparatively seems to be a predictor of postoperative problems, 4) the preoperative nursing instructions were an effective means of promoting physical recovery in every age group as long as the child understood the instructions. The above data would seem to indicate that all preoperative pediatric patients four years of age or older, if they can understand, should have preoperative nursing instruction in order to alleviate postoperative stress and enhance physical recovery. The level of general anxiety preparatively deserves special attention since the amount of nursing instruction needed seems to vary with tile level of anxiety.
