The Effects of $SrTiO_3$ Addition on the Microstructure and Magnetic Properties of YIG (YIG ($Y_3$$Fe_5$O_{12}$)의 미세구조 및 자성 특성에 대한 $SrTiO_3$첨가 영향)

  • The effects of SrTiO$_3$ addition and sintering temperature on the microstructure and magnetic properties of yttrium iron garnet (YIG) were investigated. The lattice Parameter increasing of sintered YlG with small amount of SrTiO$_3$ addition was supposed to be substituted $Y^{+3}$, Fe$^{+3}$ ions to Sr$^{+2}$,Ti$^{+4}$ ions which are relatively large in ionic ranius. A YIG specimen sintered at 142$0^{\circ}C$ with 0.2mol% SrTiO$_3$ showed above 98% densification of theoretical density. Saturation magnetization (M$_s$) at room temperature decreased a little bit with increasing SrTiO$_3$, addition but no great chance. In addition, the coercivity (H$_c$) was almost not changed by sintering temperature.

  • TZM합금은 융점이 높은 Mo 기지에 미세한 (Zr,Ti)C의 석출물이 분산되어 있어 고온에서 다양한 부품에 응용가능하다. 하지만, TZM합금이 대기중 고온에 노출될 경우, 초기 산화물이며 약 $600^{\circ}C$부터 기화가 시작되는 $MoO_3$상이 형성됨으로써 물성에 치명적인 영향을 미친다. 이러한 산화거동을 막기 위하여 표면보호 코팅을 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 복잡한 형상과 대량생산이 가능하며 표면 코팅층과 모재의 접합성이 가장 강하다고 알려진 확산코팅법을 이용하여 Si을 TZM 합금에 코팅하였으며, 코팅층의 형성 속도론을 이해하기 위하여 온도별 및 시간별로 코팅을 수행하여 시간과 온도에 따른 코팅층의 형성 기구를 고찰하고자 하였다. Si의 확산코팅결과, $MoSi_2$층은 $1350^{\circ}C$에서 산화시에 두께가 감소하였으며, $Mo_5Si_3$상은 두께가 성장하였다. 코팅층의 확산거동을 속도론적 분석을 통하여 규명하고 논의하고자 한다.

Characterization of Hot Deformation Behavior of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy (Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 고온변형거동 규명)

  • Compression tests were carried out to investigate the hot-deformation behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy in the temperature range of $915^{\circ}C$ to $1015^{\circ}C$ and the strain rate range of $10^{-3}s^{-i}$ to $10s^{-1}$. Under the given test conditions, the hot-deformation of Ti-6Al-4V alloy was mainly led by dynamic recovery rather than by dynamic recrystallization. The activation energy for the plastic deformation in $\alpha+\beta$ field was about 894 kJ/mol and $\beta$ field was 332kJ/mo1. Processing map for hot working are developed on the basis of the variations of efficiency of power dissipation($\eta$=2m/m+1) and flow instability criterion using the dynamic material model. The optimum process condition in the ($\alpha+\beta$) field was obtained at the temperature ranges of $930^{\circ}C$ to $955^{\circ}C$$^{\circ}C$ and a strain rate of $10^{-3}s{-1}$.

Quantitative Study on the Refinement Behaviors of TiC Powders Produced by Mechanical Milling Under Different Impact Energy (밀링 에너지 변화에 따른 TiC 분말의 미세화 거동에 관한 정량적 연구)

  • This study investigated refinement behaviors of TiC powders produced under different impact energy conditions using a mechanical milling process. The initial coarse TiC powders with an average diameter of 9.3 ${\mu}m$ were milled for 5, 20, 60 and 120 mins through the conventional low energy mechanical milling (LEMM, 22G) and specially designed high energy mechanical milling (HEMM, 65G). TiC powders with angular shape became spherical one and their sizes decreased as the milling time increased, irrespective of milling energy. Based upon the FE-SEM and BET results of milled powders, it was found initial coarse TiC powders readily became much finer near 100 nm within 60 min under HEMM, while their sizes were over 200 nm under LEMM, despite the long milling time of up to 120 min. Particularly, ultra-fine TiC powders with an average diameter of 77 nm were fabricated within 60 min in the presence of toluene under HEMM.

  • The effect and Condition of heat treatment on the tensile strength of welded joint was investigated in 300 grade 18% Ni-Co-Mo-Ti maraging steel sheets welded with electron beam. A good tensile strength of welded joint was obtained by following heat treatment cycle ; At $1100^{\circ}C$ the specimen was high temperature solution treated for 1 hour and then it was repeated solution treated at $900^{\circ}C$, $820^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour respectively to recrystallize the coarsened ${\gamma}$ grain. These heat treatment cycle was completed by an final aging heat treatment at $480^{\circ}C$ for 4 hour. Moreover, dissolution of dendrite, a significant decrease in seregation of Mo, Ti in weld metal were observed and also the coarsened ${\gamma}$ grain formed at $1100^{\circ}C$, $1200^{\circ}C$ changed to fine grain due to the effect of recrystallization.

  • Activated carbon fiber (ACF) was modified with MnS nanoparticles to prepare MnS-ACF, and it was employed for preparation of MnS-$ACF/TiO_2$ composites with titanium (IV) n-butoxide (TNB). The properties of MnS-$ACF/TiO_2$ composites were characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDX. EDX results showed the presence of C, O, and Ti as major elements and traces of the metal elements Mn and S. The photocatlytic activity was evaluated by degradation of methyl blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dye. The results demonstrated that as-prepared samples could effectively photodegrade MB and MO under UV irradiation. Subsequently, the decomposition of MB solution showed the combined effects of adsorptions by ACF and enhanced photocatalytic effect by $TiO_2$. Finally, the photocatalytic effect increased due to photo-induced-electron absorption effect by ACF and electron trap effect by comodified MnS nanoparticles.

  • We have studied on the tribological characteristics of surface modification by Arc Ion Implantation(AIP) coating method. Coating materials were deposited by the Titanium carbide(TiC) and Titanium nitride(TiN). An experimental process was established to determine the tribological characteristics of friction and wear behaviour with the variation of applied load, temperature and the time by the Falex friction and wear test machine. The results, It can be improved that when the surface modification of hard coatings(TiC, TiN) was deposited steel, the tribological characteristics become better. It is argued that improved because of excellence of the anti-wear, the extreme pressure properties and the heat stability.

원자력용 316LN 스테인레스강의 탄화물 석출 거동

  • 원자력용 316LN 스테인레스강의 입계탄화물 석출거동에 미치는 질소 및 Ti, B의 미량원소 영향을 시차열분석기(DSC)와 투과전자현미경(TEM)을 이용하여 관찰하였으며, 이들 결과와 예민화 특성과의 관계성을 분석하였다. Ti과 B의 첨가는 316LN 강의 탄화물 석출온도를 높이며, 탄화물 석출에 필요한 활성화에너지 값은 미첨가강에 비해 높았다. TEM/EDX 분석결과, 예민화된 316 LN 강은 M$_{23}$C$_{6}$ 탄화물이 입계에 석출되며 입계에서 Cr 고같층이 관찰되었다. 반면 Ti 및 B 첨가강은 7$50^{\circ}C$, 20시간 열처리 조건에서도 거의 입계석출물이 존재하지 않았으며 일부 소량 존재하는 입계 석출물은 EDX 분석결과 Mo-rich 상인 Laves 상으로 분석되었다. DSC와 TEM 분석 결과는 Oxalic 시험 및 Modified Strauss 시험에 의한 입계 부시시험결과와 잘 일치하였고, Ti 및 B의 첨가는 Cr의 확산을 저지시켜 입계탄화물의 석출 및 성장을 저지하는 역할을 하며, 316LN 강의 예민화 특성을 양호하게 하였다.

  • The thermal behavior and the crystallographic characteristics of an epitaxial $C49-TiSi_2$ island formed in a Si (001) substrate by $N_2$, treatment were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). It was found from the analyzed results that the epitaxial $C49-TiSi_2$ was thermally stable even at high temperature of $1000^{\circ}C$ therefore did not transform into the C54-stable phase and did not deform morphologically. HRTEM results clearly showed that the epitaxial $TiSi_2$ phase and Si have the orientation relationship of (060)[001]$TiSi_2$//(002)[110]Si, and the lattice strain energy at the interface was mostly relaxed by the formation of misfit dislocations. Furthermore, the mechanism on the formation of the epitaxial $_C49-TiSi2$ in Si and stacking faults lying on the (020) plane of the C49 Phase were discussed through the analysis of the HRTEM image and the atomic modeling.
