화학기상응축법에 의한 TiO$_2$ 나노분말의 합성 (1) (Synthesis of Nanosized TiO$_2$ Powder by Chemical Vapor Condensation Process(1))

  • 화학기상응축법을 이용한 TiO2 나노분말합성시 전구체 주입속도 및 산소 반응기체유량의 변화에 따른 나노입자의 형성과정을 분말특성의 관점에서 조사하였다. 기상합성반응의 주요 열역학, 동역학적 인자인 과포화도, 충돌율, 체류시간의 상기 두 공정변수에 대한 의존성을 이론적으로 평가하였고, 이를 0.376, 0.742 m//min의 두 전구체 주입속도 조건에서 산소유량을 1에서 2slm까지 변화시키며 합성한 TiO2 나노분말의 특성과 관련하여 분석하였다 모든 조건에서 합성된 TiO2 분말은 20~30 nm의 크기를 갖는 미세한 anatase 상과 극소량의 rutilc상이 혼합되어 서로 느슨한 결합을 하고 있었다 전구체 주입속도가 0.376m//min의 경우, 전반적인 입도와 응집도는 0.742 m//min에 비해 작았으며, 산소유량이 증가할수록 체류시간과 충돌율이 감소하여 형성된 TiO2 분말의 입도는 감소하였다. 또한 산소유량 증가에 따른 과포화도의 감소는 분말형성과정과 기구에 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단되나, 정확한 분석을 위해서는 각각의 독립적인 열역학 및 동역학적 변수 조건하에서의 면밀한 고찰이 요구되었다.

Ti 및 Si 혼합 분말의 전기방전소결에 의한 Titanium Silicide의 합성 연구 (Synthesis of Titanium Silicide by Electro-Discharge-Sintering of Ti and Si Powder Mixture)

  • The synthesis and consolidation of titanium silicide by electro-discharge-sintering has been investigated. As-received Ti powder was in flaky shape and the mean particle size was $45.0{\mu}m$, whereas the mean particle size of the pre-milled Si powder with angular shape was $8.0{\mu}m$. Single pulse of 2.5 to 5.0 kJ/0.34g-elemental Ti and pre-milled Si powder mixture with the composition of $Ti-37.5at.\%$ Si was applied using $300{\mu}F$ capacitor. The solid with $Ti_5Si_3$ phase has been successfully fabricated by the discharge with the input energy more than 2.5kJ in less than $129{\mu}sec.$ Hv values were found to be higher than $1000kgf/mm^2$. The formation of $Ti_5Si_3$ occurred through a fast solid state diffusion reaction.

  • The synthesis of high purity and ultra-fine $BaTiO_3$ by precipitation with gaseous $NH_3$ as precipitator was investigated to find an alternative process to solve various problems of recent wet methods. A synthesis process for $BaTiO_3$ powder using $NH_3$ gas as a precipitator in a bubble column reactor was experimentally successful in developing the production process of piezoelectric ceramic $BaTiO_3$ powder. And a 2.33m1/sec is approprite for the feed flow rate, $BaTiO_3$ powder produced under above the condition is spherical type, its particle size was about $0.2{\mu}m$.

Synthesis of $PbLaTiO_{3}$: Mn powders by hydrothermal method

  • Synthesis of $PbLaTiO_{3}$ : Mn powders containing La and Mn was carried out using $PbO,\;TiO_{2},\;La_{2}O_{3}\;and\;MnO_{2}$ as starting materials by hydrothermal method. In the synthesis of single phase $PbLaTiO_{3}$ : Mn powder containing La and Mn, the optimal x value corresponding to La substitution was 0.01 which corresponds to $0.99(Pb_{1-x}La_{2x/3}TiO_{3})+0.01MnO_{2}$. The optimal conditions for the preparation of the powder synthesis were 8 M-KOH solvent of hydrothermal solvent, $270^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature and 24 hrs of run time. It was found that the synthesized powders had spherical morphology with average particle size of 70 nm and specific surface area of $5.5\;m^{2}/g$.

$BaTiO_3$ 요업체에서 입성장에 따른 치밀화 거동 (Densification Behavior of $BaTiO_3$ Ceramics with Grain Growth)

  • Variation of sintered density of BaTiO3 powder calcined at 120$0^{\circ}C$ and 135$0^{\circ}C$ was investigated with respect to the grain growth behavior. It was found that BaTiO3 powder, which was calcined at 120$0^{\circ}C$, showed abnormal grain growth behavior during sintering process. At initial stage of sintering process, the densification rate of specimen was accelerated with rapid grain growth caused by the abnormal grain growth. But with the increase of sintering time, abnormally grown grain met each other and the density of specimen decreased drastically due to coalescence of pores located in triple junction. On the contrary, BaTiO3 powder calcined at 135$0^{\circ}C$ showed normal grain growth behavior and gradually densified with the increase of sintering time.

  • The present work studies the influence of high-energy milling (HEM) and sintering cycle of Ti and Al powders on the obtainment of TiAl. This study shows that HEM modifies the diffusion processes during the sintering stage. The samples were obtained by cold uniaxial and isostatic pressing, pre-sintered at different temperatures, and heated up to the sintering temperature. This study also shows the effect of powder additions processed by HEM on the sintering behavior of elemental Ti and Al powders.

  • Direct Laser Melting (DLM) of $Ti-xTiH_2$ (mixing ratio x = 2, 5, 10 wt.%) blended powder is characterized by producing porous titanium parts. When a high energy laser is irradiated on a $Ti-TiH_2$ blended powder, hydrogen gas ($H_2$) is produced by the accompanying decomposition of the $TiH_2$ powder, and acts as a pore-forming and activator. The hydrogen gas trapped in a rapidly solidified molten pool, which generates porosity in the deposited layer. In this study, the effects of a $TiH_2$ mixing ratio and the associated processing parameters on the development of a porous titanium were investigated. It was determined that as the content of $TiH_2$ increases, the resulting porosity density also increases, due to the increase of $H_2$ produced by $TiH_2$. Also, porosity increases as the scan speed increases. As fast solidified melting pools do not provide enough time for $H_2$ to escape, the faster the scan speed, the more the resulting $H_2$ is captured by the process. The results of this study show that the mixing ratio (x) and laser machining parameters can be adjusted to actively generate and control the porosity of the DLM parts.

분쇄 방법 및 하소온도에 따른 Doner-doped BaTiO3의 전기적 특성 (Electrical Properties of Donor-doped BaTiO3 Ceramics by Attrition Milling and Calcination Temperature)

  • In this study, We have been investigated the effect of calcination temperature and high-energy ball-milling of powder influences the $BaTiO_3$-based PTCR(Positive Temperature coefficient Resistance) characteristics and microstructure. The mixed powder was obtained from $BaCO_3$, $TiO_2$, $CeO_2$ ball-milled in attrition mill. The mixed powder was calcine from 1000 $^{\circ}C$ to 1200 $^{\circ}C$ in air and then it was sintered in reduction- re-oxidation atmosphere. As a result, The room-temperature electrical resistivity decreased and increased with increasing calcination temperature. specially, Attrition milled powder could have low room-temperature resistivity and high PTC jump order at 1100 $^{\circ}C$. attrition milling had lower room-temperature resistivity than ball milling. Particle size decreased by Attrition milling of powder influences in calcination temperature and room-temperature resistivity.

Hydrothermal synthesis of $PbTiO_3$ oxides with perovskite structure

  • The preparation of $PbTiO_3$ powder was carried out using the oxide starting material by hydrothermal method. The powder of a crystalline phase with perovskite structure was synthesized. The optimum conditions for the preparation of powder were as follows; hydrothermal solvent; 8M-KOH or 8M-NaOH, reaction temperature; 250~$270^{\circ}C$, run time; 10 h. The ,shape of synthesized powders were well developed crystalline faces with specific surface area of about 2.3 $\textrm m^2$/g in KOH solution and about 5.0 $\textrm m^2$/g in NaOH solution. The cell parameters of powder were a = 3.90$\AA$, c = 4.14 $\AA$ and cell volume was 57.30 $\AA^3$. The cell ratio (c/a) of powder was the same as the theoretical ratio with c/a = 1.06 and the phase transition temperature(Tc) of the powders was about $470^{\circ}C$.

  • Biomimetic apatite deposition behaviors and mechanical performance for as-rolled and annealed Ni-Ti plates were investigated . A good biomimetic apatite formation and excellent mechanical performance of Ni-Ti suggests that Ni-Ti can be an excellent candidate material as orthopedic implants.
