Performance Enhancement of a Low Speed Axial Compressor Utilizing Simultaneous Tip Injection and Casing Treatment of Groove Type

  • Performance of a low speed axial compressor is enhanced through a proper configuration of blade row tip injection and casing treatment of groove type. Air injectors were mounted evenly spaced upstream of the blade row within the casing groove and were all aligned parallel to the compressor axis. The groove, which covers all the blade tip chord length, extends all-round the casing circumference. Method of investigation is based on solution of the unsteady form of the Navier-Stokes equations utilizing $k-{\omega}$ SST turbulence model. Extensive parametric studies have been carried out to explore effects of injectors' flow momentums and yaw angles on compressor performance, while being run at different throttle valve setting. Emphasis has been focused on situations near to stall condition. Unsteady numerical analyses for untreated casing and no-injection case for near stall condition provided to discover two well-known criteria for spike stall inception, i.e., blade leading edge spillage and trailing edge back-flow. Final results showed that with only 6 injectors mounted axially in the casing groove and at yaw angle of 15 degrees opposite the direction of the blade row rotation, with a total mass flow rate of only 0.5% of the compressor main flow, surprisingly, the stall margin improves by 15.5%.

  • 본 기술논문은 최근에 공개된 문헌 및 특허 자료를 참고하여 새로운 개념의 고체 추진제를 소개하였다. 전기제어 고체 추진제는 전기에너지를 가함으로서 다중점화, 소화 및 추력 조절 제어가 가능한 추진제이다. 움직이는 부품 없이 코아 또는 끝단 연소구조를 가지는 그레인을 제조하여 직경이 3 인치인 모타를 시험 하였다. 현재 진행 중인 연구로 부터 10%이상 증가한 비추력을 가지면서 제조공정이 쉽고 높은 전기 전도성을 가지는 보다 더 새로운 고성능 ECESP를 개발하였다.

  • This paper focuses on development of load test simulator of a steam turbine-generator in a nuclear power plant. When load is taken off from electrical power network, it is very difficult to effectively control the steam flow to turbine of the nuclear turbine-generator, because of disturbances, such as electrical load and network unbalance on electrical network. Up to the present time, the conventional control system has been used for the load control on nuclear steam generator, owing to the easy control algorithms and the advantage which have been proven on the nuclear power plant. However, since there are problems with stability control during low power and start-up, only a highly experienced operator can operate during those procedures. Also, a great deal of time and an expensive simulator is needed for the training of an operator. The KEPRI is developed simulator for 600MW nuclear power plant to take a test of generator load rejection, throttle valve, and turbine load control. Total load test is implemented before start up.

  • 본 논문은 초음속 추진을 이용한 미사일 시스템에 대한 궤적최적화에 대한 연구를 소개한다. 초음속 추진 시스템은 외부비행조건과 내부 연소 환경에 따른 복잡하고 비선형성이 강한 추력특성을 가진다. 이러한 이유로 초음속 비행체의 운용에 있어 많은 구속조건을 가지며 일반 비행체보다 좁은 비행영역안에서 운용되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 특성을 가지는 초음속 비행체의 궤적최적화를 수행하고 보다 효율적인 운용에 대한 비전을 제시하고자 한다. 궤적최적화는 일반적인 초음속 추진에 관련한 구속조건들을 고려하며 수행되었고, 궤적최적화 결과를 통해 얻어진 효율적 연료공급 및 노즐 목 면적 제어에 대한 일반적인 운용 및 응용방안에 대해서 고찰하고자 한다.

로터리 댐퍼의 토오크 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Torque Characteristics of Rotary Dampers)

  • Rotary dampers are damping devices which provide high resistance to shaft rotation. Rotary dampers are being used in various areas to enable the gentle opening and closing of the rotation motion relative to home furniture, industry machinery and automotive parts. Rotary dampers can be installed directly at the rotating point of a various part and can achieve uniform, gentle movement which increases quality and value of products. And generally, the silicone fluid is used as the damping medium because of its stable viscous properties. The movement of these little decelerators can be achieved with a high viscosity of working fluid and throttles installed in the body of the rotary damper. The damping force can be achieved clockwise, anti-clockwise or in both directions according to the structure of the orifices or throttles. In this paper, the torque performances of the rotary damper containing air in the working fluid were studied. For this purpose, the torque characteristic of the rotary damper according to the variation of various operating conditions such as clearance of leakage, dimensions of groove orifice, content ratio of air, etc., were simulated with AMEsim software.

  • In this paper, we propose a simple and effective vision-based tracking controller design for autonomous object tracking using multicopter. The multicopter based automatic tracking system usually unstable when the object moved so the tracking process can't define the object position location exactly that means when the object moves, the system can't track object suddenly along to the direction of objects movement. The system will always looking for the object from the first point or its home position. In this paper, PID control used to improve the stability of tracking system, so that the result object tracking became more stable than before, it can be seen from error of tracking. A computer vision and control strategy is applied to detect a diverse set of moving objects on Raspberry Pi based platform and Software defined PID controller design to control Yaw, Throttle, Pitch of the multicopter in real time. Finally based series of experiment results and concluded that the PID control make the tracking system become more stable in real time.

  • This paper represents an investigation of the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control system using Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation(HiLS). Control logic is primarily developed and tested with a specially equipped test vehicle. Establishment of an efficient and low cost development tool is a very important issue, and test vehicle approach is costly and time consuming. HiLS method is useful in the investigation of driver assistance and active safety systems. The HiLS system consists of a stepper motor for throttle control, a hydraulic brake system with an electronic vacuum booster, an electronic controller unit, a data logging computer which are used to save vehicle states and signals of actuator through a CAN and a simulation computer using mathematical vehicle model. Adaptation of a CAN instead of RS-232 Serial Interface for communication is a trend in the automotive industry. Since this environment is the same as a test vehicle, a control logic verified in laboratory can be easily transferred to a test vehicle.

  • In this paper, numerical simulations of both low- and high-frequency buzz phenomena at the throttle ratios (T.R.) in Nagashima's experiment are performed. The dominant frequencies of the low-and high-frequency buzz in the experiment are about 109 Hz with T.R.=0.97 and 376 Hz with T.R.=0.55, respectively. An axisymmetric solver with the S-A turbulence model is used for the simulations, and DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) on pressure histories is conducted for the buzz frequency analysis. In the present simulations, the free-stream Mach number and the Reynolds number based on the inlet diameter are 2 and $10^7$, respectively. Both the low- and high-frequency buzz phenomena are accomplished without the changes in the grid topology. The dominant frequency of the simulation is about 125 Hz with T.R.=0.97, while it is 399 Hz with T.R.=0.55.

초음속 항공기에 장착되는 터보팬엔진의 장착성능산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Calculation of Turbofan Engine Installed Performance for a Supersonic Aircraft)

  • 항공기 개발초기 단계에서 주어진 항공기 임무요구도를 만족하는 최적 설계에 도달하기 위해서는 많은 엔진/기체 조합형상에 대한 적합성평가가 이루어지게 되며, 이를 위해서는 정확한 엔진장착성능을 산정할 수 있는 기법의 확립이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 초음속 항공기 개발초기 단계에서 주어진 엔진/기체 형상에 대한 엔진장착성능을 산정할 수 있는 기법을 연구하였다. 이를 위해 추력 -항력 산정 시스템(Thrust minus drag accounting system)에 의거하여 엔진 장착 추력 구성요소를 설정하고 풍동시험결과를 기초로 한 데이터베이스를 활용하여 이들 요소를 산정하였으며, 산정된 엔진 장착성능 결과를 제시하였다.

FTP-75 냉간 주행 모드로 운전하는 차량의 연료분사 모사시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fuel Injection System Simulating a Vehicle Driven with FTP-75 Mode for Cold Transition Period)

  • A fuel injection system which is operated with a real vehicle driving simulation was developed as an alternative to a vehicle test for the fuel injectors. The sensor signals that are supplied to the ECU were measured and recorded as a data file for a vehicle driven in FTP-75 mode in a chassis dynamometer. The imperative sensor signals of the throttle position, vehicle speed, engine speed, crank position, cam position, intake air flow, and cooling water and intake air temperature were reconstructed using FPGA DAQ boards and a PXI computer. The scanning results showed good agreement with the input signals that were reconstructed. The ECU HILS system operated successfully to drive six fuel injectors, which injected fuel in the same pattern as if they were mounted in the vehicle driven in FTP-75 mode. Also, the fuel injection system developed in this research shows the possibility of application in evaluating the characteristics of fuel injection rate for injectors according to properties of injected fuel with the real driving mode of vehicles.
