Properties of Thin Film a-Si:H and Poly-Si TFT's

  • A-Si:H and poly-Si TFT characteristics were investigated using an inverted staggered type TFT. The poly-Si films were achieved by various anneal techniques ; isothermal, RTA, and excimer laser anneal. The TFT on as-grown a-Si:H exhibited a low field effect mobility, transconductance, and high gate threshold voltage. Some films were annealed at temperatures from $200^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$. The TFT on poly-Si showed an improved $I_{on}/I_{off}$ ratio of $10^6$, reduced gate threshold voltage, and increased field effect mobility by three orders. Inverter operation was examined to verify logic circuit application using the poly-Si TFTs.

Automated radiation field edge detection in portal image using optimal threshold value (최적 문턱치 설정을 이용한 포탈영상에서의 자동 에지탐지 기법에 관한 연구)

  • Because of the high energy of the treatment beam, contrast of portal films is very poor. Many image processing techniques have been applied to the portal images but a significant drawback is the loss of definition on the edges of the treatment field. Analysis of this problem shows that it may be remedied by separating the treatment field from the background prior to enhancement and uslng only the pixels within the field boundary in the enhancement procedure. A new edge extraction algorithm for accurate extraction of the radiation field boundary from portal Images has been developed for contrast enhancement of portal images. In this paper, portal image segmentation algorithm based on Sobel filtration, labelling processes and morphological thinning has been presented. This algorithm could automatically search the optimal threshold value which is sensitive to the variation of the type and quality of portal images.

  • With the rapid development of computer and communication techniques, copyright protection of vector geographic data has attracted considerable research attention because of the high cost of such data. A novel adaptive watermark detection algorithm is proposed for vector geographic data that can be used to qualitatively analyze the robustness of watermarks against data addition attacks. First, a watermark was embedded into the vertex coordinates based on coordinate mapping and quantization. Second, the adaptive watermark detection model, which is capable of calculating the detection threshold, false positive error (FPE) and false negative error (FNE), was established, and the characteristics of the adaptive watermark detection algorithm were analyzed. Finally, experiments were conducted on several real-world vector maps to show the usability and robustness of the proposed algorithm.

Evaluation of Backpain after Continuous Epidural Analgesia by Pressure Algometer (지속적 경막외진통법후 Pressure Algometer에 의한 요통의 평가)

  • Background: Recently postoperative pain control with continuous epidural analgesia has been increased. This study aimes to evaluate backpain following continuous epidural analgesia by pressure threshold meter (algometer). Methods: After informed consent, 50 ASA physical status I or II patients undergoing elective gynecologic surgery were selected. After placing epidural catheter, patients received morphine 0.05mg/kg with 0.25% bupivacaine 5 ml followed by continuous infusion of 0.125% bupivacaine 100 ml with morphine 4 mg for 48 hours. backpain was measured by pressure algometer over lumbar paraspinalis at the L4 level, 5 and 7 cm from the midline on preoperative, operation day, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th postoperative days. Results: Postoperative mean pressure thresholds of were higher than preoperative value (p<0.05). Conclusion: The continuous epidural analgesia dose not provide or aggravate postoperative backpain, but it must be evaluated for long term follow-up.

Deep learning-based sensor fault detection using S-Long Short Term Memory Networks

  • A number of sensing techniques have been implemented for detecting defects in civil infrastructures instead of onsite human inspections in structural health monitoring. However, the issue of faults in sensors has not received much attention. This issue may lead to incorrect interpretation of data and false alarms. To overcome these challenges, this article presents a deep learning-based method with a new architecture of Stateful Long Short Term Memory Neural Networks (S-LSTM NN) for detecting sensor fault without going into details of the fault features. As LSTMs are capable of learning data features automatically, and the proposed method works without an accurate mathematical model. The detection of four types of sensor faults are studied in this paper. Non-stationary acceleration responses of a three-span continuous bridge when under operational conditions are studied. A deep network model is applied to the measured bridge data with estimation to detect the sensor fault. Another set of sensor output data is used to supervise the network parameters and backpropagation algorithm to fine tune the parameters to establish a deep self-coding network model. The response residuals between the true value and the predicted value of the deep S-LSTM network was statistically analyzed to determine the fault threshold of sensor. Experimental study with a cable-stayed bridge further indicated that the proposed method is robust in the detection of the sensor fault.

  • Earlier researches on Sensor Networks preferred symmetric key-based authentication schemes in consideration of limitations in network resources. However, recent advancements in cryptographic algorithms and sensor-node manufacturing techniques have opened suggestion to public key-based solutions such as Merkle tree-based schemes. This paper proposes a new concept of public key-based authentication using Polynomial Secret Sharing that can be effectively applied to sensor networks and a detection of malicious node using the hash function. This scheme is based on exponential distributed data concept, a derivative from Shamir's (t,n) threshold scheme, in which the authentication of neighbouring nodes are done simultaneously while minimising resources of sensor nodes and providing network scalability.

  • Recently interest in the fabrication of LD operated by low current is gradually increasing as fabrication techniques of MQW-LD are progressed. In this viewpoint, theoretical estimation for decreasing the amount of threshold current will be helpful to design and make LD in case that active layer of conventional bulk type RWG-LD structure is replaced with MQW structure. Therefore, the optimum design condition of RWG MQW-LD was obtained from theoretical analysis in order to operate in the weakly index-guided LD and low threshold current. The lateral effective index step has been obtained in RWG MQW-LD structure. Waveguide mechanism including this index step has been investigated by solving the carrier diffusion equation and lateral wave equation. From these theoretical results, the optimum design condition of RWG MQW-LD have been suggested.

  • We present new digital watermarking scheme that embeds a watermark according to the characteristics of the image or video. The scheme is compatible with established image compression standard. We define a weighting function using a parent-child structure of the DCT coefficients in a block to embed a maximum watermark. The spatio-frequency localization of the DCT coefficients can be achieved with this structure. In the detection stage, we present an optimum a posteriori threshold with a given false detection error probability based on the statistical analysis. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient and robust against various signal processing techniques. Especially, they are robust against widely used coding standards, such as JPEG and MPEG.

Effect of Cervical HVLA Technique and Mulligan MWM Techniques on Pain, Function in Patients with Lateral Epicondylitis (경추 도수교정과 멀리건기법이 주관절 외측상과염의 통증과 기능에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: This study was to investigate the effect of cervical HVLA technique and mulligan MWM technique on patients with lateral epicondylitis. Methods: 36 participants were randomly allocated to the two groups; group I involved high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) cervical mobilization technique, mulligan mobilizations with movement (MWM) technique (n=18). group II mulligan MWM (n=18). Patient attended for three times a week for six weeks. Results: The change of visual analogue scale (VAS) was statistically and significantly decreased in both of the group I and the group II. The change of patients rated tennis elbow evaluation (PRTEE) was statistically and significantly decreased in both of the group I and the group II. The change of pressure pain threshold (PPT) was statistically and significantly increased in both of the group I and the group II. Nevertheless, There is no statistical differences between group I and group II. Conclusion: After experiment, pressure pain threshold and visual analogue scale, patients rated tennis elbow evaluation were improved in both group. But Cervical HVLA group does not showed the change better than mulligan MWM group.

  • This paper presents techniques to make image enhancement using unsharp masking. It is the technique to make image enhancement by automatically find the three parameters that makes hard to use the unsharp mask technique. To optimize the three parameters(Threshold, Amount, Radius), at first classify the pixels in the image to three groups, and then according to the groups, apply the unsharp mask to the image differently. We experimented and analyzed the rate of image enhancement by comparing images which is enhanced by human and which is enhanced by proposed technique.
