The finite element alternating method is extended further for general three dimensional cracks in an isotropic body subjected to the mode I loading. The required analytical solution for a dime dimensional crack in an infinite isotropic body is obtained by solving the integral equations. In order to remove the high singularity in integration, the technique suggested by Keat et al. was used. With the proposed method several example problems are solved in order to check the accuracy and efficiency of the method.
We developed an accurate and reliable photogrammetric method available instead of the direct measurement method and the three-dimensional scanning method. Our research was restricted to a head on the body. Approaching three-dimensionally, we calibrated a distorted image of a photograph and got linear equations of camera beams. Then we assigned z values of landmarks in the head and obtained three-dimensional coordinates for each landmark putting those z values in linear equations of camera beams and finally could calculate measurement results from those three-dimensional coordinates. When we compared results obtained by a program, 'Venus Face Measurement(VFM)' that we had developed applying our method with results obtained by the direct measurement method, VFM showed very accurate and reliable results. In conclusion the photogrammetric method developed in this study was testified to an outstanding measurement method as a substitute for the direct measurement method and the three-dimensional scanning method.

The three-dimensional correction factor of the added mass of finite-length elliptic cylinders in vertical vibration in a free surface was calculated. This problem has already been dealt by T. Kumai[5] to contribute to analytical prediction of the three-dimensional correction factor for the added mass in vertical vibration of ships. In Kumai's work, the body boundary condition involved in the appropriate boundary value problem was approximately treated in the course of obtaining the solution. In this work, obtaining the solution derived from mathematically exact treatment of the body boundary condition, the author recalculated the three-dimensional correction factor for length-beam ratio $4{\sim}8$, beam-draught ratio $2.00{\sim}4.50$ and number of nodes from 2 to 7. And the numerical results were compared with both Kumai's results and the author's experimental data for two and three-noded vibrations of the cylinder of beam-draught ratio 2.40 The comparison of the numerical results shows that the author's are always higher than the Kumai's as expected. And the comparison of the numerical results with experimental data shows that the Kumai's numerical results have less deviation in case of two-noded vibration, and that, in case of three-noded vibration, the author's numerical results are in fairly good correspondence.
Objective This study was conducted to gather basic information of 3D CT in detecting and gaining information of esophageal foreign body (FB) models. Materials and Methods The chest model was made using PVC bottle, rubber balloon and plaster. Fish bone, Persimmon stone were used to mimic foreign bodies of esophageal model. The foreign body models were inserted into the balloon removing air from it and the balloon was sealed. The esophageal FB model was inserted into the chest model. The remaining space in the chest model was filled with fish paste and water to simulate soft tissue around esophagus. CT of chest model was reconstructed three-dimensionally by Rapidia software to make images of foreign body models. The axial CT, MPR image and VOI image were compared with real foreign body materials as to shape, size, location and orientation. Results Esophageal FB models were easily made. CT data gave good 3D images and showed realistic foreign body materials. Conclusion The results indicate the usefulness of 3D CT technique to help in diagnosis of esophageal foreign body models.
This paper describes three-dimensional (3-D) standard curves for single prismatic buried bodies in induced polarization (IP) method. Dipole-dipole IP responses for the bodies are calculated by the numerical modeling technique using an integral equation solution. The pattern of IP responses for conductive targets depends on the ratio of the width of body to the depth extent. The IP response of a body of six units in strike length approximates that of a two-dimensional body. In addition, if the strike length is long enough, a layered-earth interpretation is applicable for a body much longer than four units in width. Moving an IP line away from the center of a body alon gstrike produces an effect similar to that of increasing the depth. Moving the location of body along line has little effect to the pattern of IP responses.

The three dimensional aspects of hydrodynamic impact are discussed. Theoretical and experimental results for a sphere and a cusped body are presented. The cusped body is axisymmetric and resembles the bow profile of a ship with flare. The sphere was subjected to both vertical and oblique impact angles while the cusped body experienced only vertical motion. Three dimensional calculations using normal dipole distributions and an equi-potentioal free surface are compared with experimental results. The theoretical boundary value problem was solved using a known interior flow. This procedure reduced computation times significantly. Comparisons between theory and experiment show that, depending upon the body shape theoretical estimates of the maximum impact force may be larger or smaller than the experimental values. But the theoretical estimate can be used for practical purposes.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body, the three dimensional anatomical angle according to sweep shot in ice hockey. The subjects of this study were five professional ice hockey players. The reflective makers were attached on anatomical boundary line of body. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVIEW 6.1 graphical programming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and ice hockey stick were defined. 1. In three dimensional linear velocity of blade the Y axis showed maximum linear velocity almost impact, the X axis(horizontal direction) and the Z axis(vertical direction) maximum linear velocity of blade did not show at impact but after impact this will resulted influence upon hitting puck. 2. The resultant linear velocity of each segment of right arm showed maximum resultant linear velocity at impact. It could be suggest that the right arm swing patterns is kind of push-like movement. therefore the upper arm is the most important role in the right arm swing. 3. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk in flexion-extension showed flexion all around the wrist shot. The angular displacement of trunk in internal-external rotation showed internal rotation angle at the backswing top and and increased the angle after the impact. while there is no significant adduction-abduction. 4. The three dimensional anatomical angular displacement of trunk showed most important role in wrist shot. and is follwed by shoulder joints, in addition the movement of elbow/wrist joints showed least to the shot. this study result showed upperlimb of left is more important role than upperlimb of right.

The aerodynamic characteristics of automobiles have received substantial interest recently. Detailed knowledge of the vehicle aerodynamics is essential to improve fuel efficiency and enhance stability at high-speed cruising. In this study, a numerical simulation has been carried out for three-dimensional turbulent flows around a commercial bus body. Also, the effect of rear-spoiler attached at rear end of bus body was investigated. The Wavier-Stokes equation is solved with SIMPLE method in general curvilinear coordinates system. RNG $k-\varepsilon$ turbulence model with the MARS scheme was used for the evaluating aerodynamic forces, velocity and pressure distribution. The results showed details of the three-dimensional wake flow in the immediate rear of bus body and the effect of rear-spoiler on the wake structure. A maximum of 14% reduction in drag coefficient was achieved for a model with a rear-spoiler.
The purpose of this study was to propose the method reproducing three dimensional figure data to a reconstructed body by the styrofoam board. To make the reconstructed body, the 3D figure data were rotated to make symmetry and the surfaces were edited. The horizontal curves were gathered equally-spaced based on the waist horizontal plane. we proposed the process to cut the styrofoam board according to the horizontal curves, to assemble them to organize the shape of the body figure and to coat the surface with the knitted. The 3-dimensional figure data of straight type, swayback type, lean-back type and bend-forward type were selected and the reconstructed bodies were made as above. And the compatibility was verified by the measurement comparison and deviations between 3-dimensional figure data and reconstructed body.
Many analysis methods, including finite element method, have been suggested and used for assessing the integrity of cracked structures. In the paper, in order to analyze arbitrary three dimensional cracks, the finite element alternating method is extended. The crack is modeled by the symmetric Galerkin boundary element method as a distribution of displacement discontinuities, which is formulated as singularity-reduced integral equations. And the finite element method is used to calculate the stress values for the uncracked body only. Applied the proposed method to several example problems for planner cracks in finite bodies, the accuracy and efficiency of the method were demonstrated.
