Evaluation of the characteristics of the reflection plate to measure defects in the invisible area using infrared thermography

  • Defect inspection system for industrial applications takes the important portion. Non-destructive inspection method has been significantly improved. Infrared thermography, as one of method for non-destructive inspection, can provide relatively precise data and quick inspection time. This study, it was performed to measure defect according to the measurement limit of the non-visible areas such as the back surface of the pipe using reflection plate using reflection plate based on Infrared thermography. The materials of the reflection plate were determined in consideration of the space limitation and the thermal characteristics, and defects were detected by the manufactured reflection plate. Detection of defect in non-visible area using the candidate materials for reflection plate was conducted.

몰드성형 광학렌즈를 이용한 의료기기용 열화상카메라 체열진단의 적용도 평가 (Evaluation of Thermography Camera Using Molded Optical Lens for Medical Applications)

  • With the recent development of less-costly uncooled detector technology, expensive optics are among the remaining significant cost drivers in the thermography camera. As a potential solution to this problem, the fabrication of IR lenses using chalcogenide glass has been studied in recent years. We report on the molding and evaluation of a ultra-precision chalcogenide-glass lens for the thermography camera for body-temperature monitoring. In addition, we fabricated prototype thermography camera using the chalcogenide-glass lens and obtained the thermal image from the camera. In this work, it was found out that thermography camera discerned body-temperature between 20 and $50^{\circ}C$ through the analysis of thermal image. It is confirmed that thermography camera using the chalcogenide-glass lens is applicable to the body-temperature monitoring system.

  • It is difficult to estimate for deterioration of exterior wall by infrared thermography, because of amount of infrared-ray radiation effected by environmental factors such as temperature properties of materials, the outside air and the amount of solar radiation. Therefore we measured the distribution of temperature by times in the same reinforced-concrete structure in order to reduce problems, occasioned by environmental factors, then we analyzed physical influence factors of the infrared thermography. It is the aim of this study to suggest basic data with regard to method of estimation-system for deterioration of exterior wall in reinforced-concrete structures.

적외석 체열촬영에 관한 고찰 (Study on Infrared Thermography)

  • 인체에서 발생하는 체열을 과학적으로 이용하여 질병을 진단하고 치료과정을 관찰하고 예후를 추측할 수 있는 Thermography는 현대의학의 임상 여러분야에서 응용할 수 있는 유용한 진단장비에 속한다 하겠다. 인체의 피부온도는 좌우 대칭적으로 온도분포를 나타내며 여러가지 생리학적인 원인에 의하여 온도는 변화할 수 있으며, 그러한 온도변화는 여러 질병과의 연관성을 갖게 된다. Thermography는 유방암세포의 증식에 따른 유방체표면의 초기온도 상승을 screening 함으로서 조기에 유방암을 발견할 수 있으며, 척추의 신경근 자극에 따른 체열분포를 파악함으로서 신경근의 이상유무 및 척추질환을 진단할 수 있으며, 말초 혈액순환 장애 등으로 인한 질환에 있어서도 뚜렷한 체표면 온도분포를 나타내 줌으로서 혈액순환의 장애분포를 시각적으로 관찰할 수 있는 이점을 지니고 있다. 또한 정형 물리치료 분야에 속하는 근-골격계 질환에 있어서의 근육통, 압통점, 염좌, 염증질환 등을 구별할 수 있고 나아가 치료 전후에 적외선 체열검사를 실시해 봄으로서 치료전이나 치료결과에 대한 객관적인 평가를 할 수 있다는데 큰 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

적외선 열화상 카메라를 이용한 탄소강관 용접부 결함검출 (Defect Detection of Carbon Steel Pipe Weld Area using Infrared Thermography Camera)

  • The piping system accounts for a large portion of the machinery structure of a plant, and is considered as a very important mechanical structure for plant safety. Accordingly, it is used in most energy plants in the nuclear, gas, and heavy chemical industries. In particular, the piping system for a nuclear plant is generally complicated and uses the reactor and its cooling system. The piping equipment is exposed to diverse loads such as weight, temperature, pressure, and seismic load from pipes and fluids, and is used to transfer steam, oil, and gas. In ultrasound infrared thermography, which is an active thermography technology, a 15-100 kHz ultrasound wave is applied to the subject, and the resulting heat from the defective parts is measured using a thermography camera. Because this technique can inspect a large area simultaneously and detect defects such as cracks and delamination in real time, it is used to detect defects in the new and renewable energy, car, and aerospace industries, and recently, in piping defect detection. In this study, ultrasound infrared thermography is used to detect information for the diagnosis of nuclear equipment and structures. Test specimens are prepared with piping materials for nuclear plants, and the optimally designed ultrasound horn and ultrasound vibration system is used to determine damages on nuclear plant piping and detect defects. Additionally, the detected images are used to improve the reliability of the surface and internal defect detection for nuclear piping materials, and their field applicability and reliability is verified.

열화상을 이용한 몰드변압기의 진단 (The Diagnosis cast-resin Transformer using Infrared Thermography system)

  • This paper presents the analyzing method for surface temperature distribution of a cast-resin transformer. For the study, the surface temperature of the transformer winding was measured and analyzed by a infrared thermography system. Alternating voltages were applied to simulate deterioration of the specimen transformer, and the hot-spot on the transformer surface was measured to analyze the condition for the winding. The hot line condition measured to the changes in surface temperature using infrared thermography camera and was set up the based of diagnostic method of the electric power apparatus. The results ould show the possibility of remote diagnosis using internet.

Characteristics on Temperature Evolution in the Metallic Specimen by Ultrasound-Excited Thermography

  • In ultrasound-excited thermography, the injected ultrasound to an object is transformed to heat and the appearance of defects can be visualized by thermography camera. The advantage of this technology is selectively sensitive to thermally active defects. Despite the apparent simplicity of the scheme, there are a number of experimental considerations that can complicate the implementation of ultrasound excitation thermography inspection. Factors including acoustic horn location, horn-crack proximity, horn-sample coupling, and effective detection range all significantly affect the detect ability of this technology. As conclusions, the influence of coupling pressures between ultrasound exciter and specimen was analyzed, which was dominant factor in frictional heating model.

원전 배관 루프시스템의 냉각 위상잠금 적외선열화상을 이용한 결함 검출에 관한 연구 (A Study about Detection of Defects in the Nuclear Piping Loop System Using Cooling Lock-in Infrared Thermography)

  • 냉각 위상잠금 적외선열화상 기법을 이용하여 원전 배관 루프시스템의 가열결함 검출의 선행연구를 통하여 냉각결함 검출조건의 적용에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 배관의 결함가공은 감육 길이, 감육 깊이를 변화시켜 결함조건을 가공하여 루프시스템을 제작하였다. 사용된 장비는 적외선열화상 카메라와 냉각장치를 사용하였으며 냉각장치와 대상 루프시스템과의 거리는 2m로 고정시켜 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과의 분석을 위하여 냉각온도 분포, 위상데이터를 확보하고, 이를 분석하여 결함 길이를 측정하였다. 냉각결함 검출조건은 적외선열화상 데이터보다 위상잠금 적외선열화상 데이터가 측정 결과의 신뢰도가 높았다.

  • In the conventional infrared imaging system, complex infrared lens systems are usually used for directing collimated narrow infrared beams into the high speed 2-dimensional optic scanner. In this paper, a simple reflective infrared optic system with a 2-dimensionaloptic scanner is proposed for the realization of medical infrared thermography system. It has been experimentally proven that the infrared thermography system composed ofthe proposed optic system has the temperature resolution of $0.1{\circ}C$ under the spatial resolution of 1mrad, the image matrix size of $256{\times}240$, and the imaging time of 4 seconds.
