CFD를 이용한 열회수형 환기장치 운전에 따른 혹한기 공동주택의 실내 열환경 검토 (A Study of the Indoor Thermal Environment in Apartment Buildings in Freezing Weather Operation of Heat Recovery Ventilator by CFD Simulation)

  • In Korea, it is the law that an apartment building which consists of over 100 households must have a ventilation system installed, either natural or mechanical. The heat recovery ventilator (HRV) is great way to reduce energy consumption. In this research we confirmed that based on site's construction plan and existing diffuser form, performed purpose CFD which simulates operation in temperatures below $-5^{\circ}C$ to circumstances of installation of an HRV in an apartment. As a result of this research we found that when the diffuser's aperture area was adjusted, the distribution of air temperature and residence time of air was more equally distributed and air temperature was higher, compared to when the diffuser has an identical aperture area. We also found that we are able to increase even more air temperature and air distribution of air temperature and residence time of air was even more equally distributed when run in parallel with a splitter damper.

대한민국 동하절기 해군 함상복의 착용쾌적성 평가를 통한 디자인 요소 요구성능 분석 (Design Requirements by Evaluating Comfort while Wearing Korean Naval Duty Uniforms for Summer and Winter)

  • The purpose of the present study was to suggest the design requirements for Korean naval duty uniforms by evaluating the physiological and psychological comfort while wearing the uniforms. Two sets of wear trials were conducted with summer uniforms(eight young males) and winter uniforms(seven other young males). The summer wear trial consisted of 10-min rest, 60-min exercise, and 10-min recovery at an air temperature($T_{air} $) of $33^{\circ}C$ and 62%RH, followed by 10-min recovery at a $T_{air} $ of $23^{\circ}C$ and 64%RH(total 90 min). The winter wear trial consisted of 20-min rest at $T_{air} $ $20^{\circ}C$ and 55%RH, 25-min rest, 30-min exercise, and 35-min recovery at a $T_{air} $ of 0oC and 43%RH(total 110 min). Rectal and seven skin temperatures, clothing microclimate, heart rate, oxygen consumption, total sweat rate, and subjective perceptions were measured during the wear trials. By evaluating the experimental results from the wear trials, we extracted the following psycho-physiological design requirements to improve the current Korean naval uniforms: (1) It is important to maintain the skin temperatures within their comfort range, which depends on the body region (higher than $30^{\circ}C$ in winter, but less than $35^{\circ}C$ in summer). (2) In summer, the feet should be protected from the high heat of the ship floor surface. (3) In summer, sweat from the back should be sufficiently absorbed and allowed to dry quickly.

의용소방대용 근무복 소재의 역학적 특성 및 쾌적성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical and Comfort Performances of the Working Uniform for a Volunteer Fire Brigade Member)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate mechanical and comfort performances of the material for the improved working uniform for a volunteer fire brigade member, to get basic data for its evaluation and to help its material and design development. The results were as follows; The material of the newly developed working uniform was thinner and lighter than the material of the current used working uniform. It had better breathability, air permeability and heat transmission rate than the current one. It also had superior anti-flammability In all mechanical properties(tensile, bending, shearing, compression and surface properties), it showed better performances than the current one. It elongated and bended easier and more in both warp and weft directions. The elastic recovery and shape stability after elongation were also higher. The recovery and resistance to shearing and the resiliency and recovery after compression were also better than the current one. It was more flexible, softer and smoother in primary hand value, and was more suitable for the material for winter suit which needs softness and fullness in total hand value. The material of the improved working uniform showed lower thermal insulation value and higher evaporative resistance value compared to the material of the currently used working uniform from the sweating thermal manikin test. It was shown that the physical performances and the hand value of the textile material used in the newly developed working uniform for a volunteer fiber brigade member was improved compared to the one used in the currently used working uniform.

Effects of Clothing Material Dyed with Astringent Persimmon Extract upon Exercise-Induced Thermal Strain and Sensory Responses in a Warm Environment

  • This study investigated the effects of persimmon-dyed clothing materials upon thermophysiological responses and subjective comfort sensations during exercise and rest in a warm environment. Six healthy, untrained women participated in two separate testing sessions, with cotton materials dyed with astringent persimmon extract (DC) and undyed cotton materials (UDC). The physical characteristics associated with heat and moisture transfer were improved in DC; also, stiffness, anti-drapery stiffness and crispness in the primary hand values were higher in DC. The experimental protocol consisted of a 10-min rest, 15-min exercise on a treadmill (at ${7km{\cdot}h^{-1}}$) and 25-min recovery at $28{\pm}0.2^{\circ}C$ and $50{\pm}3%\;RH$. The results were as follows: When wearing DC rather than UDC, mean body temperature, heart rate, heat storage and body mass loss were significantly lower during the whole experimental period. Clothing microclimate temperature showed different profiles between the two clothing materials, being lower with DC than UDC during the first half of exercise and the second half of recovery. Clothing microclimate humidity was significantly lower with DC than UDC during the whole experimental period. When wearing UDC, subjects felt significantly warmer and less comfortable during exercise, and sensed greater humidity during exercise and recovery. These results suggest that eco-friendly clothing materials dyed with astringent persimmon extract can reduce exercise-induced heat load and improve subjective sensations when exercising and resting in a warm environment, due to greater heat dissipation from the body to the outside environment compared with undyed clothing materials.

파일럿 규모 막 증발 공정 적용을 위한 직접 접촉식 모듈의 투과유속 및 열에너지 이동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flux and Heat Transfer of Direct Contact Type Module Applied for a Pilot Scale Membrane Distillation Process)

  • In this study, a direct contact membrane module was manufactured to be used in a pilot scale membrane distillation process to treat $3m^3/day$ of the digestate produced from anaerobic digestion of livestock manure. In order to investigate the performance of the membrane module, permeate flux was measured with and without spacer inside the module under various condition of temperature difference and cross flow velocity (CFV) through the membrane surfaces. Flux recovery rate after chemical cleaning was also investigated by applying three different cleaning methods. Additionally, thermal energy consumption was theoretically simulated based on actual pilot plant operation conditions. As results, we observed flux of the module with spacer was almost similar to the theoretically predicted value because the installation of spacer reduced the channeling effect inside the module. Under the same operating condition, the permeate flux also increased with increasing temperature difference and CFV. As a result of chemical in-line cleaning using NaOCl and citric acid for the fouled membranes, the recovery rate was 83.7% compared to the initial flux when NaOCl was used alone, and 87% recovery rate was observed when only citric acid was used. However, in the case of using only citric acid, the permeate flux was decreased at a rapid rate. It seemed that a cleaning by NaOCl was more effective to recover the flux of membrane contaminated by the organic matter as compared to a cleaning by citric acid. The total heat energy consumption increased with increasing CFV and temperature difference across the membrane. Thus, further studies should be intensively conducted to obtain a high permeate flux while keeping the energy consumption to a minimum for a practical application of membrane distillation process to treat wastewater.

회전형 휘발성 산화장치 이용 다공성 우라늄산화물 그래뉼 제조 연구 (Study on the Fabrication of Porous Uranium Oxide Granule Using a Rotary Voloxidizer)

  • 회전형 휘발성 산화장치(voloxidizer)와 200 g $U_3O_8$ 분말을 사용하여 초기 미세 입자층의 운동형태, 열처리 온도 및 시간, voloxidizer의 회전속도에 따른 다공성 그래뉼의 회수율과 특성을 분석하였다. 초기 미세 입자층의 운동형태에 따른 1 mm 이상의 그래뉼의 회수율은 rolling 운동 때보다 slumping 운동일 경우에 보다 높았다. 초기 미세 입자층이 rolling 운동형태인 경우에는 미세입자로부터 그래뉼이 생성됨에 따라서 slumping 운동형태로 변하며 slumping 빈도가 매우 높았다. 열처리 온도의 증가 및 10 h까지는 시간의 증가에 따라서 그래뉼의 회수율이 매우 크게 증가하였다. Slumping 운동형태를 보이는 초기 미세 입자층의 경우에 voloxidizer의 회전속도가 증가함에 따라서 그래뉼의 회수율 은 81.5에서 88.7%로 증가하였으나, 그래뉼 특성 측면에서 보면 회전속도가 2 rpm인 경우에 밀도, 파쇄강도, 구형도가 가장 높았다.

  • Optimization procedures of performance analysis for ORC(Organic Rankine Cycle) system are established to the characteristics of low temperature heat sources such as open-type and closed-type. Effective heat recovery and heat extraction related to maximum power of the cycle as well as heat quality and thermal efficiency must be considered in the case of the open-type low temperature heat source. On the other hand, in the case of the closed-type low temperature heat source, only thermal efficiency is important due to constant heat input. In this study, thermal efficiency and exergy efficiency representing a level of close to Carnot cycle are studied, as useful index for the optimization of the ORC system. To validate the results of cycle analysis, those are compared with appropriate experimental data of ORC system as a thermal efficiency point of view.

미숙아의 머리 및 발 보온이 출생초기 체중에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Thermal Head and Feet Support on Early Stage Weight Gain in Premature Neonates)

  • This is a nonequivalent control group pretest- posttest design in quasi experimental basis to assess how the thermal head and feet support influences on early stage weight gain in premature neonates. The clients were selected among the premature infants with the weight under 2000gms and with the gestational period under 37 weeks, admitted over 15 days in K university hospital, Seoul. The control group of 29 were selected from January 1998 to August 1998, who were without head and feet thermal support, and the experimental group of 30 were selected from September 1998 to May 1999, who were with the two thermal interventions. The results of the study follow, 1.The experimental group with thermal interventions showed more weight gain than the control group without thermal interven- tions, which was statistically significant between the two groups. 2.The physiological weight loss after birth showed less in the experimental group than in the control group. 3.The recovery of the birth weight after the physiologic weight loss showed no statistical difference between the experimental group and the control group. Consequently, the thermal head and feet supportive nursing intervention could be applied as a nursing intervention program to help the premature neonates' development. With the results above we should like to suggest the following: 1) A continuous application in the practice of our thermal supportive intervention for the premature neonates, a development of the content through evaluation, and a comparision of the results through a long time study. 2) A neccessity of deveopment of various study and cross comparision. 3) A neccessity of multi-angular study on the premature infants' characteristics influencing the thermal therapy and the study of the individual differences of the clients.

  • 폐기물을 이용한 공공 자원회수시설, BIO-SRF를 이용한 민간 열원시설 열에너지를 효율적으로 활용함에 있어 투자 대비 회수 기간의 경제성 문제가 대두 되었고, 이로 인하여 기존에 통상적으로 설계 시공 운영 되었던 온도, 압력 조건 범위값을 넘어서 실현 가능한 최적의 온도, 압력 조건의 열원 설비가 필요하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 국내에서 운영 중인 열원시설을 대상으로 온도와 압력 조건에 따른 모델링을 통하여 에너지 전력 생산량을 분석하였고, 도출된 에너지 전력 생산량을 통하여 온실가스 배출량 감축 특성을 연구하였다. 최종적으로 폐기물 및 바이오매스 연료를 이용한 열에너지 생산시설의 효율적인 에너지 활용을 위해서는 고온의 온도와 고압의 압력 생산시 효율적인 에너지 생산이 이루어지고 경제성 있는 투자와 회수로 이루어지리라 판단된다.

줄기세포를 이식한 척수손상 흰쥐에서 반복자기자극의 효과 (The Effect of Repetitive Magnetic Stimulation in an SCI Rat Model with Stem Cell Transplantation)

  • Purpose: We tested whether repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) improved recovery following spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats with transplantation of adipose tissue-derived stromal cells (ATSCs). Methods: Twenty Sprague-Dawley rats (200-250 g, female) were used. Moderate spinal cord injury was induced at the T9 level by a New York University (NYU) impactor. The rat ATSCs (approximately $5{\times}10^5$ cells) were injected into the perilesional area at 9 days after SCI. Starting four days after transplantation, rTMS (25 Hz, 0.1 Tesla, pulse width=$370{\mu}s$, on/off time=3 sec/3 sec) was applied daily for 7 weeks. Functional recovery was assessed using the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor rating scale as well as pain responses for thermal and cold stimuli. Results: Both groups showed similar, gradual improvement of locomotor function. rTMS stimulation decreased thermal and cold hyperalgesia after 7 weeks, but sham stimulation did not. Conclusion: rTMS after transplantation of ATSCs in an SCI model may reduce thermal hyperalgesia and cold allodynia, and may be an adjuvant therapeutic tool for pain control after stem cell therapy in SCI.
