The electrical properties of crystallized PZT thin films by Pt thin film heater (Pt 박막히터에 의해 결정화시킨 PZT 박막의 전기적 특성)

  • PZT(Pb(Zr,Ti)O3)는 우수한 강유전 특성을 가지기 때문에 FRAM (Ferroelectric Random Access Memory) 소자에 응용하기 위해 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 스퍼터에 의해 증착된 PZT는 처음에 pyrochlore상으로 존재하다가 후 열처리를 통해 이력 특성을 나타내는 perovskite상으로 천이된다. 일반적인 furnace열처리 방법은 고온에서의 장시간 열처리가 요구되고 Pb-loss현상이나 TiO2와 같은 이차상의 생성 그리고 하부 Pt전극의 roughness증가 및 crack과 같은 문제점이 있다. 최근 들어 후 열처리를 RTA로 이용하는 연구가 진행되고 있는데 이는 열처리 시간이 짧기 때문에 위와 같은 문제점을 개선할 수 있었다. 하지만 RTA방법 또한 어느 정도의 thermal budget이 존재하고 추가적 장비가 필요하며 기판의 전체적 가열공정이므로 다른 CMOS공정과 compatibility가 떨어진다. 따라서 본 실험에서는 위와 같은 문제를 해결하고자 노력을 집중하였고 이를 위한 새로운 열처리 방법을 개발하였다. 즉 Pt 하부전극에 전압(전류)을 인가하여 순간적으로 고온으로 결정화시키는 새로운 공정을 모색하였는데 이와 같은 방법은 열처리를 위한 추가적인 장비가 필요없고 국부적으로 순간적인 가열이기 때문에 glass기판에도 적합하며 RTA보다 승온시간 및 열처리 시간이 짧기 때문에 thermal budget도 줄일 수 있었다.

  • High temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) offer a clean, pollution-free technology to electrochemically generate electricity at high efficiencies. Solid oxide fuel cells in several different designs have been investigated; these include planar and tubular geometries. The tubular type cell is widely researched due to it have advantages about thermal expansion and sealing issues. Unfortunately, lab scale tubular cell for testing has thermal expansion and sealing problems. The previous Jig for lab scale tubular cell testing has many sealing problems. When we feed fuel gas to jig inlet, ceramic glue sealant has amount of gas expansion pressure, because temperature of feeding gas changes ambient temperature to high temperature ($700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$). Furthermore, when we carry out long time test, something like degradation test, crack of ceramic glue sealant due to weakness of mechanical properties can make stop working the test. Additionally, we reduce setting process for assembling, because micanite is not required drying or debinding process.

Comparative Reliability of Nondestructive Testing for Weld: Water Wall Tube in Thermal Power Plant Boiler Case Study (용접부 비파괴 검사의 신뢰성 비교: 화력 발전소의 보일러 수냉벽 배관 사례연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to find which technique, between the PAUT (Phased array ultrasonic test) that has been used widely in practice and RT (Radiographic test) that was used widely in the past, has the higher reliability as a non-destructive testing of welding points in water wall tubes. Methods: To evaluated the reliability of non-destructive testing, eleven test pieces that were fabricated intentionally, which have the most frequently occurred defect types in water wall tubes and then both the PAUT and RT were performed on those eleven test pieces to compare their reliability. Results: The differences of type of defect, length are occurred due to the characteristics of nondestructive testing. The RT could not detect the lack of fusion defect type in specimen #4 and #8 while PAUT could not detect the lateral crack and 1 mm size small porosity in specimen #11. Conclusion: It is concluded that applying both the RT and PAUT result the best reliability rather than applying only one test method, if it is possible, in nondestructive testing of weld water wall tube in thermal power plant boiler case.

  • The brake disc materials for railway vehicle have been mainly used cast-iron. The brake disc and pad should be light, resist to a thermal crack and absorb enough friction energy. In order to satisfy this requirement, aluminum alloy brake disc for railway vehicle has been newly developed. The aluminum itself has not been considered the friction material for railway vehicle. However, in the case of aluminum composite with dispersed ceramic particles, friction characteristics, resistance to wear and heat are much improved. In the present study, aluminum composite brake disc of 20% ceramic particle and three kinds of organic pads have been tested in dynamometer. The results show that Al MMC brake disc and pad have good friction coefficient and wear rate, and thermal cracks in brake disc have not been initiated. Also, the Al MMC brake disc can be applied to railway vehicle of 150 km/h.

  • PZT thin film deposited by rf magnetron sputtering was annealed by rapid thermal process(RTP) in PbO ambient to prevent vaporing of Pb and interface reactions. Si and TiN/Ti/Si substrates were prepared to survey application of TiN/Ti layer which can prevent interface interaction with Si and crack of PZT thin films. As temperature increased. PZT thin films surface on Si substrate appeared more severe cracks which should affect electrical properties deadly. TiN/Ti(40-150${\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$) layer applied for buffer layer suppressed interface interaction and film cracking. The measured leakage current(LC) and breakdown voltage(BV) of PZT thin film on TiN/Ti/Si substrate annealed at 650$^{\circ}$C for 15 sec (thickness of 2500$\AA$) were 38 nA/cm2 and 3.5 MV/cm and dielectric constant was 310 at 1 MHz, and remanent polarization (Pr) and coercive field (Ec) were 6.4${\mu}C/cm^{2}$ and 0.2MV/cm at 60 Hz, respectively.

  • A Ni/Cr plating process has been developed for applying to inner wall of liquid rocket engine(LRE) thrust chamber. Ni plating conditions were selected through thermal shock test and endurance verification of the plating layers was performed through hot firing test of a subscale thrust chamber with Ni/Cr plating. Test results showed that a crack or separation of the plating layers was not found. Judging from the results, Ni/Cr plating could be applied to LRE thrust chamber as a substitute of air plasma sprayed ceramic coating which is presently being used.

A Study on Field Applications of Hydration Heat Control in the Mass Concrete Using Oscillating Capillary Tube Heat Pipe (OCHP를 이용한 매스콘크리트 수화열 제어의 현장적용에 관한 연구)

  • In process of the mass concrete structure, the heat of hydration may cause serious thermal cracking. In order to eliminate hydration heat of mass concrete, this paper reports results of hydration heat control of mass concrete using the Oscillating Capillary tube Heat Pipe(OCHP). There were the several RC box molds which shows a difference as compared with each other. One was not equipped with OCHP. The others were equipped with OCHP. All of them were cooled with natural air convection. The OCHP was composed of copper pipe with 11 turns(outer diameter : 4mm, inner diameter : 2.8mm) and heat type was non-looped type. The working fluid was R-22 and its charging ratio was 40% by volume. The core of the concrete temperature was approximately $55^{\circ}C$ in the winter without OCHP. But the concrete temperature with OCHP was reduced its difference in temperature with the outdoor temperature to $12^{\circ}C$. Finally we saw the index figure of the thermal crack of the structures were varied from 0.75 to 1.47.

But the concrete temperature with OCHP was reduced its difference in temperature with the outdoor temperature to $12{\sim}15^{\circ}C$. Finally we saw the index figure of the thermal crack of the structures were varied from 0.6 to 1.6.

  • A crack-free ceramic composite membrane with micropores has been synthesized by the pressurized sol-gel coating technique using the mixed Al2O3-SiO2 sols. The mixed sols were prepared by mixing nanoparticulate SiO2 and boehmite sols. These sols were more stable at lower pH, but very unstable when their copositions were in the range of 50~75mol% of SiO2 at the same pH. The mixed Al2O3-SiO2 membrane prepared from the mixed sol (0.2mol/$\ell$ of solid content and pH=2) containing 40mol% of SiO2 had the mean pore radius of 0.80nm and the specific surface area of 280$m^2$/g. The nitrogen permeability through the coated Al2O3-SiO2 layer was 42$\times$107mol/$m^2$.s.Pa. It was found that the thermal stability of aluminosilicate membranes, even through similar to that of SiO2 membranes, was much improved in comparison with ${\gamma}$-alumina membranes.

  • SiC has been under investigation as a potential cladding for LWR fuel, due to its high melting point and drastically reduced chemical reactivity with liquid water, and steam at high temperatures. As SiC is a brittle material its behavior during the reflood phase of a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) is another important aspect of SiC that must be examined as part of the feasibility assessment for its application to LWR fuel rods. In this study, an experimental assessment of thermal shock performance of a monolithic alpha phase SiC tube was conducted by quenching the material from high temperature (up to $1200^{\circ}C$) into room temperature water. Post-quenching assessment was carried out by a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) image analysis to characterize fractures in the material. This paper assesses the effects of pre-existing pores on SiC cladding brittle fracture and crack development/propagation during the reflood phase. Proper extension of these guidelines to an SiC/SiC ceramic matrix composite (CMC) cladding design is discussed.
