  • This paper provides an overview on the characteristics of a-SiC:H barrier film deposited for flexible display applications. Key characteristics such as high crack resistance, high thermal/hydro stability, excellent adhesion to the polymer substrate, as well as very low permeance has been demonstrated. The excellence of this barrier film has been shown from competitive analysis compared with other barrier coating materials. Finally, flexible Polymer Light Emitting Diode (PLED) test pixels have been fabricated on the barrier coated plastic substrate, demonstrating the viability of the device with lifetime data.

  • Thermal conductivities in $La_2Ce_2O_7-Gd_2Ce_2O_7-Y_2Ce_2O_7$ ternary system have been investigated. Pyrochlore phases formed at all ternary compositions and their sinterbilities were decreased with La addition. Thermal conductivities showed a minimum value at $La_2Ce_2O_7$ with moderate increases as $Y^{3+}$ and $Gd^{3+}$ ions replaced $La^{3+}$. Thermal expansion anomaly observed in $La_2Ce_2O_7$, which might be detrimental to TBC application, were suppressed by $Y^{3+}$ and $Gd^{3+}$ additions, with resultant thermal conductivities, $1.3{\sim}1.5 W/mK$ at $1000^{\circ}C$.

세라믹 코팅 고에너지 제동 디스크의 트라이볼로지적 특성 (Tribological Characteristics of Ceramic Coated High Power Brake Discs)

  • Three different kinds of brake discs including two coated brake discs and one steel disc were tested under the same experimental conditions on a reduced scale braking test bench. A braking test bench was specially designed to analyse thermo-mechanical and frictional behaviors of two types of brake with different sizes in stop and hold braking modes. Plasma spray coating technique was also used to coat the discs with ceramic powder. During the test four commercial brake pads were coupled with discs. Ceramic coated discs showed good stability in friction coefficient at high speed and high energy braking conditions. But they caused large wear loss of pad mass compared with the steel disc. It was shown that thermal barrier effect in ceramic coated discs adjusted the thermal partition between pad and disc. For a steel disc. it showed fluctuating friction coefficient at high speed but small wear loss of pad mass compared with ceramic coated discs.

서스펜션 진공 플라즈마 용사법을 통한 YSZ 코팅의 형성 (Formation of YSZ Coatings Deposited by Suspension Vacuum Plasma Spraying)

  • As increasing thermal efficiency of the gas turbine, the performance improvement of thermal barrier coatings is also becoming important. Ytrria stabilized zirconia(YSZ) is the most popular materials for ceramic top coating because of its low thermal conductivity. In order to enhance the performance of thermal barrier coatings for hot sections in the gas turbine, suspension plasma spraying was developed in order to feed nano-sized powders. YSZ coatings formed by suspension plasma spraying showed better performance than YSZ coatings due to its exclusive microstructure. In this research, two YSZ coatings were deposited by suspension vacuum plasma spraying at 400 mbar and 250 mbar. Microstructures of YSZ coatings were analyzed by scanning electron image(SEM) on each spraying conditions, respectively. Crystalline structure transformation was not detected by X-ray diffraction. Thermal conductivity of suspension vacuum plasma sprayed YSZ coatings were measured by laser flash analysis. Thermal conductivity of suspension vacuum plasma sprayed YSZ coatings containing horizontally oriented nano-sized pores and vertical cracks showed $0.6-1.0W/m{\cdot}K$, similar to thermal conductivity of YSZ coatings formed by atmospheric plasma spraying.

  • HVOF(High Velocity Oxygen Fuel)법을 사용한 MCrAlY(M=Ni, Co, Fe)계 열차폐 코팅(thermal barrier coating)은 열기관 내부의 극심한 환경 부하에 대해 구조물 표면에 열적, 화학적 장벽을 형성함으로써 구조물의 내구성을 향상시킨다 이와 동시에 열차폐 효과는 구조물의 온도상승 없이 내부 가동 온도를 높일 수 있게 함으로써 열효율을 상승시키고 연료 효율을 높여 가동비용 절감을 이룰 수 있는 동시에 고 연소를 통한 오염원의 배출을 감소시킬 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 $H_2O$$_2$=5:1 분위기 하에서 HVOF법을 사용하여 Hastelloy-X 기판위에 125$\mu\textrm{m}$의 두께로 다음 5종류의 (Ni, Co, Cr)계 MCrAlY 코팅을 용사시켰다. 준비된 (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-(Y, Ta, Re), (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-(Y, Re), (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-(Y, Ta), (Ni, Co)-Cr-Al-Y, (Ni,Co)-Cr-Al-Ir 코팅시편에 대한 산화성질을 조사하기 위해 대기 중 1000, 1100, 120$0^{\circ}C$에서 50, 100, 150, 200시간 등온실험(Isothermal oxidation)을 실시하였고, XRD, SEM/EDS, EPMA를 이용하여 생성된 산화막과 코팅 시편의 조직 변화를 조사하였다. 산화온도와 산화시간이 증가할수록 산화막의 박리가 많이 발생하였으며, 분석 결과 미세하게 분포된 a-Al$_2$O$_3$ 입자, NiCr$_2$O$_4$스피넬 상, 미세한 Cr$_2$O$_3$가 관찰되었고, 코팅 조성 변화에 따라 형성되는 이들 산화물의 존재비가 달라졌으며, 산화온도가 높아질수록 산화속도가 가속화되었다.
