Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate outcome measurement scales of nursing education such as communication, professionalism, leadership, and critical thinking. Methods: A methodological study design was used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scales. Survey was done to the students (n=407) enrolled in baccalaureate nursing schools. Using convenience sampling method, we tried to include all grades of students. Internal consistency, convergent validity and group comparison were used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scales. Results: All scales were reliable and valid. Only convergent validity of the scale to measure critical thinking was relatively low. It suggested that critical thinking skill and disposition might be measured separately. Also it was inefficient to measure the nursing education outcomes with separate scales. Conclusions: It is recommended to develop a new integrative scale to measure nursing education outcomes. Also it is necessary to set the norm of nursing students to evaluate nursing education outcomes for the quality control of nursing education.
Objective : The purpose of the study was to investigate and compare the differences between Parkinson's disease rating, balance, fall and gait scales. Results : Parkinson's disease rating scales include the Hoehn-Yahr Scale and the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS). The Hoehn-Yahr Scale can measure disease rates easily; however it is not sensitive enough to evaluate the disease's process and management. UPDRS's advantage is in it's higher inter-reliability score; however it is more complicated to use. Parkinson's balance scales are comprised of the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and the Activities-Specific Balance Confidence Scale (ABC). BBS has the advantage in that it is cheaper to measure and simple in use. ABC's advantage is especially in it's ability to measure higher functional levels; however it is more difficult measure responses due to scores appearing in both extremes. The Fall Efficacy Scale (FES) and The Survey of Activities and Fear of Falling in the Elderly (SAFE) are Parkinson's fall scales. FES's leverage over SAFE is that it is simpler to measure; however it does not coincide with responses which proves disadvantageous in measuring balance loss in high-level Parkinson's patients. SAFE's advantage is in it's simpler use and ability to be utilized without encountering the fear of fall; however it's at a disadvantage in regards to its use with multilateral aspects providing insufficient inspection. Lastly, the Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) and the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA) are Parkinson's gait scales. DGI is advantageous in its ability to test gait ability when exposed to a variety of external environments; however it is disadvantageous in that it registers higher scores with activities. FGA's advantage is in it's dynamic balance test; however it at a disadvantage with those unable to walk. Conclusion : A researcher of Parkinson's patients must choose each scale while considering their positive and negative characteristics.

It is very important to measure circular motion accuracy of NC lathes it affects accuracy, performance, interchange ability and quality of machine parts machined by the NC lathes in industries. So, in this study, measuring units system to measure circular motion accuracy two axes circular motion accuracy of NC lathes was composed of two optical linear scales installed on the z and x-axes of work coordinate system on NC lathe and a computer inserted with PC counter card enables to obtain measuring data. Here, ATC(Automatic Tool Changer) and moving part of linear scales are fixed with magnet bases in order to measure circular motion accuracy of the ATC of NC lathe. And next, computer software was developed in order to measure the circular motion accuracy of NC lathe under resolution of 0.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ using two linear scales, and also computer softwares were developed so that measuring data could be modeled on plots and be analyzed numerically,
Background: The Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ), which is based on the Demand-Control-Support model, is designed to measure the psychosocial characteristics of the respondent's work, and has been identified to predict health and psychological outcomes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of this instrument and the subsequent adaptation of its scales to the population of Greek health workers. Methods: The Greek version of the JCQ was developed by using forward- and back-translation in accordance with the JCQ policy. The reliability and validity of the measure were investigated in a sample of health workers working in a hospital in Athens, Greece. The internal consistency of the scales was examined based on Cronbach ${\alpha}$ coefficients, and the validity was evaluated subjecting the items of the three main scales of the JCQ (decision latitude, psychological job demands, and social support) to exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Results: The reliability of the scales was found to be acceptable for all the scales, except for the skill discretion subscale. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed a slightly modified version of the original construct including several items to more than one factor. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the Greek JCQ is reliable and valid for investigating psychosocial job characteristics among Greek health workers.
Objectives : A number of instruments have been developed to measure the quality of life in patients with various shoulder disorders. Much progress has been made in this area, and currently an appropriate instrument exists for each shoulder state. The purpose of this study is to review the instruments that are currently in use for assessing the shoulder joint. Methods : A literature research was performed to choose appropriate scales for assessment of function and the disability of the shoulder. Theoretically based scales were selected for review. Therefore, 11 scales were reviewed. The status of scales involved in shoulder treatment of acupuncture throughout several countries was evaluated. Results : 11 scales: The American shoulder and elbow surgeons evaluation form(ASES), Constant Shoulder Score, The disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand(DASH), Shoulder Disability Questionnaire (SDQ), The Shoulder Pain And Disability index(SPADI), The simple shoulder test(SST), Oxford Shoulder Questionnaire(OSQ), The Rotator Cuff quality-of-life Measure(RC-QoL), Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index(WOSI), Western Ontario Osteoarthritis of the Shoulder Index(WOOS), Western Ontario Rotator Cuff Index(WORC), wereevaluated. Each measurement has its own composition and characteristics. Their validity, reliability, responsiveness and practical characteristics were already evaluated. We found 3 domestic and 10 overseas papers about shoulder treatments using acupuncture assessed with shoulder scales. Conclusions : In clinical research, the selection of the measurement scale should take account of the condition of disease, the patient's traits and the characteristics of the research. Moreover, appropriate scales, which havevalidity, reliability, responsiveness and practical characteristics, are needed to enhance the quality of research.

It is very important to measure linear motion accuracy of NC lathe as it affects all other parts of machines machined by them in industries. If the motion accuracy of NC lathe is bad, the dimension accuracy and the change-ability of works will be bad in the assembly of machine parts. In this paper, computer software systems are organized to measure linear motion of ATC(Automatic tool changer) on zx plane of NC lathe using two linear scales and the time pulses coming out from computer in order to get data at constant time intervals from the linear scales. And each sets of error data obtained from the test is discripted to plots and the results of linear motion errors are expressed as numerics by computer treatment.
Psychophysical data, in general, belong to one of the four scale categories : Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, and Ratio Scale. This paper introduces properties of the four scale categories and describes some psychophysical scales that attempt to measure subjective feeling or opinion of human. In addition, guidelines of analyzing and interpreting measured data are suggested. Some examples of analyzing and interpreting paychophysical data inappropriately are presented especially with category scales which have been used most widely in measuring subjective information.
This study attempted to measure personality changes in collegiate nursing students as a result of their psychiatric nursing practice. The study population consisted of 310 students in 8 colleges of nursing in Korea, 96 with psychiatric practice, 103 with other clinical practice and III without clinical practice experience. The objectives of the study were to identify: 1. The self-actualization scores of nursing students resulting from psychiatric nursing practice. 2. The self-actualization scores of nursing students resulting from other clinical nursing practice. 3. The difference between scores for students with clinical practice experience and those without experience. 4. The relevance between self-actualization and sibling order. 5. The relevance between self- actualization and religion. 6. The coefficiently scores for students before and after clinical practice. The instrument used was the Personal Orientation Inventory (POI), developed by Shostrom. It provides a measure of values and behavior which are thought to be of importance in the development of self- actualization. The main findings of the study were as follows: 1. There was a significant difference in the Time Competence, Self Regard, and Nature of Man scales resulting from psychiatric nursing practice. 2. There was a significant difference in the Inner Directed, Existentialist, Feeling Reactivity, Spontaneity, Nature of Man and Capacity for Intimate Contact scales resulting from other clinical nursing practice. 3. There was a significant difference in the Inner Directed, Feeling Reactivity, Spontaneity, Self- Regard and Capacity for Intimate Contact scales between students with clinical practice and those without practice. 4. There was a significant difference in the Self-Acceptance scale for both the eldest and the youngest siblings. 5. There was a significant difference in the Time Competence, Inner Directed, Existentialist, Self-Acceptance and Capacity for Intimate Contact scales for middle and youngest siblings, 6. There was a significant difference in the Existentialist scale between students with a religion and those without one. 7. There was a significant difference for students without a religion in the Time Competence, Inner Directed, Self-Regard, Nature of Man, and Capacity for Intimate Contact scales after clinical practice. 8. There was a significant difference for students, with a religion in the Inner Directed, Existentialist, Spontaneity, and Nature of Man scales after clinical practice. 9. There was a significant difference for students in the Self- Actualizing value, Spontaneity, Nature of Man and Synergy scales according to whether their parents had a religion or not. 10. Before and after practice, significantly different correlations were found between the Time Competence and Capacity for Intimate Contact scales : the Inner Directed and Existentialist scales ; the Self- Actualizing Value and the Feeling Reactivity, Spontaneity, Self-Regard and Nature of Man scales : the Feeling Reactivity and Acceptance of Aggression scales: the Spontaneity and the Self-Regard and Nature of Man scales; and between the Self-Regard and Nature of Man scales.
Objectives There is a controversy regarding the construct validity of anxiety and depression. Some believe that these two symptoms are basically the same construct, that is, both measure what is called 'general distress' or two phenomena are distinct experiences which often coexist. To further understand relationship between anxiety and depressive symptoms, we investigated the factor structure of a combined anxiety and depression scale among psychiatric outpatients. Methods Data of Zung's Self-Rating Depression and Anxiety Scales were gathered from 401 newly visiting psychiatric outpatients at a university-affiliated hospital. We performed a component analysis on the 40 items from two scales. Results Exploratory factor analysis revealed a seven factor structure explaining 56% of total variance. Overall finding indicated that depression and anxiety scales consisted of four symptom domains : mainly depressive symptoms, mainly anxiety symptoms, common somatic symptoms, and others. Conclusions Our results suggest that the construct of self-reported depressive and anxiety symptoms are more complex than previously thought, i.e., either one or two factor theories. These findings also support that anxiety and depression can be better modeled by dimensional approach. Clinicians may be alert for the fact that both depression and anxiety scales measure distinct and also common aspects. Further researches on other scales especially, interview based instruments are needed.

This study aims to develop the scales to measure the innovation configurations of Science. Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) from the perspective of elementary school teachers and investigates the effect of the innovation configurations and related environmental factors on the usage levels of STEAM based on the newly developed scales for the innovation configurations of STEAM. The scales for the innovation configurations of STEAM are based on analyzing the various previous studies and in-depth interviews and consist of four sub-configurations: The 'Preparation,' 'Design,' 'Implementation,' and 'Evaluation.' The innovation configurations of STEAM was investigated with the developed scales through 266 teachers who are leading STEAM school teachers, are involved in STEAM research group, or are implementing STEAM in general schools. The final 19 questionnaires for the scale of the innovation configuration of STEAM are confirmed with exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis. In order to examine the relationship between the innovation configurations and levels of use, the direct relationship between four sub-configurations and the usage levels of STEAM and the effect of environmental factors on the innovation configuration and the usage levels of STEAM have been conducted and their interactions are considered. The results show that 'Implementation' in the innovation configurations of STEAM and 'STEAM training experience' are most important factors to improve the usage levels of STEAM for elementary school teachers. It implies that the scales are very helpful in improving as well as figuring out the current innovation configurations of STEAM.
