Recent years, being advanced the phenomena of fewness and aging rapidly in rural areas, rural community has been collapsed fastly. This study is aimed for two intentions: the one is identification of the actual conditions of rural diminishing in population, and the other is having a view of real picture of it in future. The major result of this study is summarized as follows. First, as a result of the rural area's shrinking for a long time advanced, the rural community has grown to under the minimum autogenesis level. Futher more this study have a look out in ten years later that rural community will diminish in population to 42% size compared with now, and the number of elder than 80 years old occupy a half of total population in a standard case. Such a consequence of this study implies no doubt that the rural development policy must lay a stress to cope with a serious situation of rural scantiness. And policy conversion calls for having a new understanding of this situation first.

Purpose: This study is aimed to search the lived experiences of the participants and to analyze the contents so that we can be assured about what the elderly wish and find the appropriate nursing intervention for them in real life. Method: This is based on a phenomenological approach. Participants of this study consist of people older than 65 years old. Data was collected from May to August in 2001. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews and observations. The time used in each interview was from 50 minutes to 2 hours. Each participant was interviewed three to five times. Giorgi's phenomenological analysis was used in data analysis. Result: The elder's wishes are 1) a respected life, 2) a happy life, 3) a peaceful life, 4) a independent life, 5) a financially independent life, 6) a satisfactory life, 7) a mind to depend on someone, 8) a serving life, 9) a historic family, 10) a happy-ending life. Conclusion: The study will contribute for the nursing intervention to enhance the quality of life and successful aging of the elderly.

This study was subjected elementary school books published between 1989 and 1991. There focused on the oriental medicine of all Health-Medicine contents. The results of analysis for elementary school books were much less oriental medicine contents than the others. Also, it was negative trends in many contents like incorrect of historical incidence, etc. That contents was not two medicine's complementarity but two division. This result did possible contribute to misunderstand and negative action toward oriental medicine in the elder age' attitude. Oriental Medicine has been successive to the present and shall be continue to the future as natural korea culture. In order to continuity of normal Health-Medical culture and obtain of worldwide oriental medicine trend, it need to revise contents of elementary school books rapidly.

There are electric four-wheeled vehicles to assist elder people. Because of the vehicles'dynamic characteristic such as impossible to move abeam, it is difficult for these people who has little experience and has little knowledge to drive. Also to judge the future state of dynamic obstacles and to decide how to elude them safely are more difficult. We installed the predictive fuzzy controller(evaluates the future states which several kinds of operation candidates were done and chooses the best one) that modeled humans'algorithms in the system. Human predicts the future states of dynamic obstacles and chooses an operation(wait, steer, go back, etc) to elude safely. To elude dynamic obstacles flexibly, we added expert's knowledge for safe driving to this controller. In this paper, we propose the intelligent soft driving system by the controller that can elude dynamic obstacles safely, and we confirm the effectiveness by a simulation.

This study is aimed both to define a conception of Health Care Systems and to suggest Desirable Reorganization Directions in Korea. The Desirable Reorganization Directions of Health Care System in Korea is as follows ; 1. The Health Care System of Free Market System has to reorganize step by step for the Directions of National Health System. 2. The Health Care System has to reorganize with local socite as the center of local community. Especially, Health Sub-Center should be reorganized to provide Compresensive Health Care, so that the Sub-Center consist at least 15 members of health workers including a chief of governmental office. 3. The Health Care System has to reorganize for the Directions responding problems of the Elder, New Medical Technology Development, and Health Information System.

The purpose of the study was to analyze the family structure in rural Korea systematically and comprehensively according to the broad concept. The data was collected from 810 rural households by interview method with questionnaire. For the analysis, family structure was divided into aspects of static structure and dynamic structure. The static structure was constructed by two components of demographic structure and typological structure. The dynamic structure was also constructed by three components of decision making structure, role structure, and dynamic relationship structure of family members. In demographic structure, family size was 4.1 persons, families, with more female were 35.2%, and families with elder husband than wife were 82.5%, In the typological structure, nuclear family type with two-generation was predominant. In dynamic structure, role structure was autonomic type while conjugal power structure was compounded type with autonomic, syncratic, and husband-dominant type.

The purpose of this study was to measure the body cathexis and clothing satisfaction sccording to the level of age, job, and total monthly income and to investigate the relationship between body cathexis and clothing satisfaction of married women. 43 items of body parts and body functions were selected to measure body cathexis from Secord and jourard body Cathexis scale. A nd 56 items of Mclean's Clothing Satisfac tion scale were used for clothing satisfaction. The questionnaires were administered to 384 mothers in Jeonbug province. 3-way ANOVA and Newman-Keuls test were used for group difference. Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, Partial Correlation Coefficients, Standard Deviation, and Mean were calculated. RESULTS : 1. Body cathexis of married women showed asignificant difference according to age. 2. Clothing satisfaction of married women showed a significant difference to the interaction of age, job, and total monthly income. The elder and higher income group without job had the highest clothing satisfaction scores than any other group. 3. Positive correlations were found among body cathexis, clothing satisfaction, and 6 subscales of clothing satisfaction.

Outer rotor type in-wheel switched reluctance motor for Welfare neighborhood electric vehicle is researched. In-wheel system is to drive the electric vehicle without mechanical transmission, shaft, differential gears or other mechanical system. To calculate drive power for each wheels, the elder's and disable's safety driving conditions are considered. The designed outer rotor SRM has a 6-stator and 8-rotor pole. The determined dimensions as well as the stator and rotor pole arc are simulated and tested with CAD and finite element analysis to verify the performance of the proposed motor.

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of exercise training on the strength and balance ability of the elderly. The results of this study are: 1) After 8 weeks exercise training, knee muscle strength showed a significant increment. 2) After exercise training, forward functional reach and balance index of KAT 2000 showed a significant increment. Results indicate that strengthening exercise can result in improved muscle strength and balance in the elderly. Further studies are required to show long-term effects of exercise training on the elderly.

The purpose of this case study is to apply for the elderly development of health promotion through exercise program in urban health center. The subject of the case study was 20 elder women of volunteer in district aged house. Performance of exercise case program took for 14 minute in once, weekly, enforced 7 times from Oct. 1 to Nov. 26. The result was appeared improvement physical health status and self-satisfaction after the exercise program. In conclusion, this case study indicates that exercise program for the elderly could be effective in health promotion and this program could lead to health promotion service in urban health center.
